For the people who want them changed what is wrong with them. Lots of room for me to tweak things.

If anyone knows CSS and has suggestions post in here...

I find the font I'm getting while reading posts is far too big. It's about an 18 pt font and just is a bit too big for me. But then it may just be my computer, been having to tweak some things tonight and it might have messed with my IE settings.

I have to admit I'm not huge on the font change. I much prefered the old basic font. I find it a lot harder to read and adjust to whereas the other one flowed a lot easier for me.

I voted that they're fine, based on my memory and at first glance didn't recognize any problems with the new version, but later found and compared a browser saved forum webpage's print style with the current version.

On being able to see the two side-by-side, I'd reverse my vote if I could, and cast it for the way they were before, for improved legibility. There's just too much space between the lines now, imo, and the typeface seems needlessly larger. Might not a before and after font changes' image be made available for voting purposes?

MS's XP using I.E. 7 (800 x 600 on a 15" LCD monitor)

Be sure to post what browser you are using.

Compare these 2 pages.

New font is much easier to read. Font size affords a clean, tidy appearance to the forum threads and index pages. I like it and prefer it to the old style.

The dialog box font seems a bit large, but thats not a problem, as its a temporary page event.

Is the Capitalized Font for at the Header Index (horizontal webpage listings, top of page) in the same font? Looks like more a classic font. If not, consider changing it to a very clean font like Ariel.

When we pull up the last threads posted/Most recent active threads to which member posted - (old history view), as don't have toggle to get back to the forum, save using the back button on our browser. Needs a minor link addition (Show All Forums) please.

See the text above the dialog box? You need the webpage addy link line:

Show ALL Forums > Plentyoffish Site/Suggestions/Help >How is the new font change?

to go ABOVE the posting instructions currently placed at the very top of the Reply to an existing message dialog box page, not below it.

And you may need to make the webpage addy link line (in marine blue) slightly larger.

You have plenty of room for it.

Nice job and a much cleaner appearance to the Forums, Admin.

I enjoy the larger font while typing. Not to mention it is a font I might actually choose if we had options to personalize our fonts on this site.

It did seem the forum pages looked odd with the larger font.

So many new options. Wow! You are working very diligently these days.

I also noticed the screen spreads out to better fit a larger monitor in the forums! Very nice.

Thanks!

(9)> I also noticed the screen spreads out to better fit a larger monitor in the forums!

They're fine now, easier to read. Seems to be equivalent to one and a half line spaces (versus the earlier single spacing vs double spacing impression of your initial version).

Any remaining objection is based on my monitor screen's size merely being 15" (a minority perspective on POF, I imagine). Which means I have a desire/need to make the best of vertical space, and was (still am) willling to sacrifice some notable legibility for the sake of just getting more info handy on my small screen's display.

I agree. I've also noticed that the font looks different when I am typing my reply than it does after I post it. Why is that?

it's ok, now that i know that it's not just me. I thought my pc had gone doolally. Because my pc did something a bit like this before and my son got it back to how it used to be.

Some, but not all of the pics have changed to red X again thought like they did a couple of months ago.

Great to see Admin asking for input from his members, this site still rocks!

19" monitor set at 1440 x 900 - IE6 - "view" set to LARGE font

YUK to the new font, mainly when typing messages as the kerning is too close & needs to be widened.

I wear glasses to use the pc & even when resetting the res to 1024 x 768 it's still not as nice as before.

Any chance of trying Comic Sans? It's an industry realised font for ease of reading, hence why most Comics are set this way, we've all heard the saying "it's kids stuff".

^^^ Thirded, (post reply font) it's an awkward font, ...the numerical characters are particularly annoying.

I prefer sans-serif fonts for composition.

Not in the post reply field -
To me it looks like "Georgia", the numerical characters are 3 different heights.

That font and Hoefler Text particularly annoying for composition. Times New Roman is a much better Serif font, and much more standard.

I also don't see the point behind using such different Type/Size fonts for composition/posted reply, I find that it can make some editing a nightmare, especially sorting through tags, etc. The standard view is fine.

I don't mind the new font for reading other posts in the forums, but I find it looks too tight when I'm emailing or IMing.

Looks fine to me. I like the extra space between sentences. If my eyes are tired I just hit CTRL and the + to enlarge the font for as long as I need to. Then change it back using CTRL and - when I'm done.

I'm using a 19" CRT monitor at 1024 x 768 32bit res.
Browser is Firefox 2.0.0.2

[q]If anyone knows CSS and has suggestions post in here...[/q]

I don't know it per say, but as far as the character spacing I do believe you can increase the space incrementally instead of just by font size. Can be done in pixels or metric,

The sample I read was as follows... (I changed the html tag in hopes it will display the text not an actual page.)
*edit didn't work trying again

<h tml>

<h ead>
<s tyle type="text/css">
h1 {letter-spacing: +3px}
h4 {letter-spacing: 0.2cm}
</s tyle>
</h ead>

<b ody>
<h1>This is header 1</h1>
<h4>This is header 4</h4>
</b ody>

</h tml>

*edit2 That seems to have done it.
