I always want to say: YES you can be 5?10? heck 15 lbs off the pic, it happens, BUT NO you can't be 5 inches shorter!! And no you can't be 100 lbs wider! | |

And she just wanted something to eat.......bless her heart. She had no idea where she was or headed in life. I felt sorry for her. There were two that was close enough for me that I liked.....But they were absolutely nothing like they described themselves. For example, the old story of being an honest cheated on lady? Left for a younger woman. We all know the story. Break a date with you with a wild made up story, then be at a POF party trying to hussle any guy in the place the same weekend.......LOL....I've learned this: Go by the opposite of their profile and you have them pegged.(especially if they are dramatic and profound about it).........I know why I've been alone for 7 yrs. But I REALLY KNOW why these women are alone..........LOL.........You'll run into guys like that I'm sure. Good luck to you little lady. | |

Posted: 3/14/2007 7:28:58 AM | Well, my pics pretty much show me as I am, my main one is 6 months old the rest were taken in 2005. I've lost a little weight, down to 190 now, I peaked at 217 two years ago, a bit uncomfortable, I'm happy with my weight now.
Like Rocky I've met about a dozen women in person since I started dating again. I would say that for the most part their pics were accurate, a couple looked even cuter than their pics, but also there were a couple that were way overweight and had tried to hide the fact. There are all types out there, different every time.

Posted: 3/14/2007 7:31:43 AM | There is a picture that circulated around the net a few years ago that appeared very angry when seen up close but very happy when seen small or at a distance. In our own pictures, our impression is clouded by our own self image and to some extent, our gender. We select our picture choice based on our self image and what we think would be the most appealing. Those that say they look like their picture may be fooling themselves because they are too close emotionally to make that judgement.
To the op, I like your profile. You actually seem to value your own intelligence. That seems all too rare in the 40+ crowd.

Posted: 3/14/2007 8:15:45 AM | In my experience, it seems that the women with the average pics turn out to be some of the most beautiful women in person. A lot of people take pics on their best day, but when you meet it may not be their best day. Many of you have been doing this internet thing for a while and hopefully you all have figured out that pics and real life my be a little different. Now things like weight, OLD pics and other things like that is just plain decieving.
I know looks matter, but a pic can be decieving on both ends of the spectrum. You may be pleasantly suprised by what you see in person. | |

i have been told that wow you look much better in person. I have also been told, wow you look skinnier in person.
so this is how i describe myself so there are no surprises. I look like a cotton swab long and skinny and fuzzy on top. Or a flag pole long and skinny with a little nub on top.
i also have a web cam so thier are no surprises with me at all. please no requests i charge for those shows. lol j/k webcams are cheap and i think i am going to pass around a petition that anyone doing online dating should have one so we wont be fooled.
No i dont turn it on for just anyone. sorry. | |

I want you to know what you're getting. If you contact me, I assume you are fine with me the way I am, and I can be relaxed.
I don't understand people who post pictures that don't look at all like them. What do they think, that when we meet I won't notice? Same with people who lie about their height. I'm 5'10" If you say you're 5'10" and I'm three inches taller than you while wearing flats, I'm gonna notice..lol. | |

It doesnt mean we or they have to be a super-model. however, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. thing is you dont have to be ugly to someone just bc youre not attracted to them. i always reply, but maybe that is bc i only have 1 e-mail a week.
like i said earlier i have been surprised at just how attractive some have been in person but not in pix. | |

I never judge a book by its cover. However, if the title is young stud and the story is about an old crippled man I got a problem...
I have been told many times that I look better than my pic, but my pics are recent. I also hate taking pictures...so to me they are all bad pics. | |

I have seen some pics of people I know who are on the site and thier pics look different than they do in person, some better and some worse. the picture most people put on thier posts is relative. Peolple gain weight, lose weight, dye thier hair, or make any number of changes after they post thier pics. Some will look exactly like thier pics, but they are not usually in the majority. I had to alter the pixel rate on my pic and turn it sideways before it would fit POFs limitations to be able to be posted. The best thing you could do is to ask them if it is a current pic. but, even then it isn't an exact science. | |
