| Drum Circle Posted: 3/16/2007 9:15:51 AM | As seeing that music is very important to me and others aswell i'm sure, I wanted to know if anybody would be interested in a drum circle type event..bongos, conga drums, tom-toms, any percussive instrument..just casual, not trying to be a band or anything, just make some beats...and meets some peeps..
I think it would be a lot of fun....
|
| Drum Circle Posted: 3/16/2007 9:19:25 AM | | Are you referring something like a Pow-Wow?? | |
|
| Drum Circle Posted: 3/16/2007 9:23:28 AM | Not a powwow, more of a grateful dead- hippy type thing... just people who have an instrument, and enjoy making music,(whether or they they are any good) | |
|
| Drum Circle Posted: 3/16/2007 9:23:58 AM | | I'd do it but I don't have any percussion instrumentation | |

| Drum Circle Posted: 3/17/2007 10:12:46 AM | Dr Malcom>I never saw that^^^ episode what happened? is there some thing i should watch out for? come one.. whats the worst that could happen
Anybody interested in a POF drum circle type event, please post and say what kind of drum/noise maker(s) you can bring. I think it would be a lot of fun....
Not a powwow, but tribal drummers are welcome, more of a free form, cultural crossfire of rhythmic expression.... a deadhead- hippy type thing...just people who can play & hopefully brimg 1 or more instruments (for those who dont have any), and enjoy making music, (whether or they they are any good)
..bongos, conga drums, tom-toms, steel drums, maraccas, shakers, any percussive instrument..even clapping qualifies.. and what are drums without dancers Location: I'd be open to any suggestions. since decibel level may be a consideration, somewhere out doors, like the any of the parks along the beach when it gets a little warmer. I don't think I would need to get a permit, would I?
Date/Time wise: Weekday or Weekend? afternoon or evening?
|
| Drum Circle Posted: 3/17/2007 10:46:46 AM | ^^^^^ I have none of the above instruments you mentioned but I do have lots of pots and pans. Do they count???? | |
|
| Drum Circle Posted: 3/18/2007 9:34:14 PM | I could do it, played the drms for like 11 years. I got some bongos and can keep a good beat going. I'm not a lead rather I keep the pace going.
p.s. You could call me a hippy, tree hugger or whatever, I just miss playing!
|
| Drum Circle Posted: 3/23/2007 1:00:25 PM | Hi all, I will post a date /venue when I have a better idea of the number of people interested.. Meantime I will just try to get this thread back on the first page, generate more awareness..
Hey Schmetz w bongos .. good to hear, hippies are welcome
Hey Moxie w pots and pans.. you can bring them and bang them, just don't ask me to wash them..
Leanne, stardust and agapantha... everyone is welcome, bring your rhythm even if you don't have an instrument..
Everyone else ....if you are too shy to post in the forum , send me a private message, hopefully my filters let you through...If not change your settings...

| Drum Circle Posted: 3/23/2007 1:24:22 PM | | I would love to be there, even if it's just to supply my own groove, my hips hold their own rythm, but I'd need to know when and where. Keep me informed. | |
|
| Drum Circle Posted: 12/24/2008 2:13:30 AM | drum circles are the best, what happened to the one suggested by this post, you don't need to be a musician to be in a drum circle, it is an exciting thing
we used to have a great drum circle here in kitchener, it was really something when it was in full swing, sometimes 20 or 30 people drumming on drums, just jammin, it really sounded good
as for those who like more organized music, i once saw a band of about 12 people, all percussion, all banging on different things, a couple even had large water bottles, real exciting stuff
|
| Drum Circle Posted: 12/28/2008 4:10:59 PM | I'm game to try the drum circle. I have a set of bongos and have always wanted to try. I might have a tamborine too. I'll have to look. Let me know! | |
|
| Drum Circle Posted: 12/29/2008 10:16:30 AM | | sounds good! Let me know when it begins, I'll be there if I can | |

| Drum Circle / Drumming list for Ontario Posted: 5/2/2009 2:46:08 PM | There is an online Yahoo group with list of drum circles in Ontario, and classes, stores etc.. for local drum culture.
I've been deeply immersed in that culture for many years now, and it's the only thing that keeps me sane.
WRite me back on here if you want the address and stuff to get on that list.
