| OKC get together?????
Posted: 3/18/2007 3:34:04 PM | The name is Debbie, and although I've been on POF for several months, I've JUST decided to check out the forums.
If there is anyone else out there, like me, who is somewhat disappointed at the lack of single social events, give me a shout. Am curious if there is enough of us, who truely want to get out, and actually MEET. 
I'm all about "making new friends" (men and women) and think this may be the best way to accomplish that. So, if of same frame of mind....let's do it!!!!! Whatcha say?

Glad you popped in....nice to meet you. I had almost given up, about any interest. Hopefully, we will see more responses, but if not, I was thinking about writing some emails to the local folk, (through this site) asking them to come to the forum and toss out some ideas, on how to get this ball rolling.
I "totally" think a get together is do-able...thanks for the offer of help. Just might take you up on that....

Would be a crying shame, to HAVE to go to that distance, just for something to do...I had checked out that Oklahoma Singles Club that started here last year. Seemed like a good idea, until they wanted to CHARGE for being in that club. Can't see why a bunch of us around here, couldn't do the same, without paying a monthly fee....I guess I like my money too much...
Anyway, we'll keep an eye on the number of people interested, and plan something soon. And I agree, Bricktown would be a good place to meet....is ALOT of things to do there.
Stop in from time to time, to check out the latest news on getting together......

Surely we can all benefits from a few more friends and there is something comforting from being in numbers instead of one on one with a stranger. Let's do it! My suggestion is Bricktown Brewery Upstairs in the next few weeks.

I was just thinking that the more that know the better it might be. I wish there was some way to send out an invitation/query to all fish from Oklahoma. You would think with so many fishes looking for friends, fun, companionship or what have you that they would jump at the chance to meet like minded people in person in a non threatening casual atmosphere. Happy as heck to see more people are wanting to actually get out and make new friends.
Well, I guess I better get "pro-active" about this and send out some emails to our local folk on here and make some DEFINATE plans. It may take a little time, for this "snowball" to grow some, so I'm thinking the first Saturday in May. I think that is the 5th. Hope that works well for all who are interested, and enough time, to hopefully encourage more potential friends to make arrangements to come.
If anyone interested in helping get the word out, give me a shout and maybe we can arrange an organized effort to let as many people as we can, know of our little "to do".
Keep checking in...and thanks again for everyone's input.

You can really expect to mob a place and know that they will be able to accommodate the group. I guess we'll see what you or anyone else comes up with. | |

If we really wanna get this thing going, with a wide range of ages, and people, I'm going to ask all who are interested, to shout out to all the people you have contact with on here, to mention this forum thread. I'm glad to see, that we have more people dropping by, and showing some enthusiasm to an actual face to face gathering.
As long as we have an idea, how many will actually show, I can make arrangements at any restuarant, for seating. I guess first things first, need to see how many will make it.
Thanks to all of you...we MIGHT actually get this thing going..........

Posted: 3/30/2007 7:31:11 PM | Sounds fun, I've done this before and we had asked about 30 people, 20 said they were coming and about 11 of us showed up, but it was still a lot of fun. The best part was that there were very different people, yet everyone had a blast. We need to think of a place that is centrally located in OKC and we shouldn't consider Bricktown for something like this, people have to work up a little bravery as it is to do this, having to deal with parking, walking and being trapped in the "mini city" will just give people another reason not to go.
If we do something like Henry Hudson around 4pm on a Saturday there aren't a bunch of people in the place, the one's that don't care for cigarette smoke won't get smogged out and the people that don't drink won't be completely surrounded by people that have had too much to drink, however, those that want to stay and watch the sun go down are in the right place. | |

Posted: 3/31/2007 3:31:00 PM | DRUM ROLL PLEASE.....after considering the emails that I have been getting...and all of those who have expressed an interest in attending, on this forum...I think the FIRST official meeting of the POF Get-Together..ers, will be May 5, Saturday at 5:00 o'clock at the Henry Hudson's at 400 W I240. I picked that Henry Hudson's since it is right off the highway, and centrally located. You will be responsible for your own tab.
I still need to get an idea of how many will be attending, as to make sure, we have enough seating so, please be dears, and either let me know here, or by email, if you can make it.
Still need help in getting the word out..so if you've been doing any searching on this site, and have seen someone, you would like to see there, tell them about this OKC Forum and direct them to this OKC Get-Together thread. I would love to have a HUGE turn out
Thanks again for all of you who have helped by your input or sent out any emails about this.....TOGETHER we CAN make it happen......
