Ok, thought we could have some fun with this one.........

What was the first album (yes, as in record), cassette and/or CD you bought or were given. Even better if you remember all 3...........

Should be a good thread for a laugh or two

First album was most definitely "The Wizard of Oz" as my dad made a huge point of telling me it was in "stereo" and therefore it could be played on the new turntable, lol (and not on the portable like the books on record I had)

First cassette was a tape my friend made for me of "The English Beat" since I was always taking his Walkman at lunch to listen to it.

First CD was one of Moe Koffman's. And I bought it at one of his gigs at "George's"
months before I even owned a CD player! He autographed it for me! :)

I don't know if it was my first but I do have vivid memories of my Mini-pops record, which would have made me about 7-8 years old i think when it was released??? I remember singing and dancing to that all the time...i hang my head in shame LOL

Agapantha......... no worries, you are not alone! Not that I think I should be admitting this, but I had it too. Mine was on cassette though and I remember my gf and I dancing all around my basement to it and my brother yelling at us to "shut the stupid stuff off!" We'd laugh and turn up the volume. Ahhh, the memories..........

Billy Joel " An Inocent man" ..for my first casset walkman ..(I guess mom figured if she was buying it she got to be the DJ) .. it was size of your avrage concrete block.. and just as heavy.. if you to fall in the lake warring it you'd drown..life jacket or not your going down.... not a pretty way to go .. last words heard lyrics of "Up town girl"

Can't belive I can remember the songs off that tape.

The first album I ever received was Harry Belafonte Live at Carnegie Hall 1959, which I still have.

The first 45 I ever bought was the Rolling Stones 'Satisfaction', 1965, which I still have.

The first album I ever bought was a Beach Boys, which was stolen many years ago.

I still have my late Mom's 8 track player (and tapes) with built in amp, AM/FM radio and accompanying turntable. I also have an extra turntable my sister gave me and some of her old records from the 50's, as well as some of my very vontage Al Jolson records. I gave away some Elvis records.

I have my television hooked up to the stereo in case I need more volume, like when there is a car race on or a good song.

I don't know which was the first but my first album was either Sharon, Lois and Bram or The Stories of James Harriet.

My first cassette was Bryan Adams 'Reckless'.

My first CD was probably something like Poison or Duran Duran. I belonged to Columbia House Music back then and I started my CD collection off with their introductory offer of buy 1 get 5 more free or something.

The first record I ever received was a 45 that had "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" on one side, and "Easter Bonnet" on the other. Both songs by Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. The record and label are both yellow in colour, contrary to the usual black. I received it, from an aunt, for my 3rd Easter. I still have it and that makes it 55 years old, next month.
