when you tell a gal that she is pretty, does that mean she is less than beautiful to you ? I mean, is " pretty" something that is less than " beautiful "?

What is the difference to you guys anyway ?

Pretty means nice to look at, and beautiful means you would like to wake up next to her every morning.

I never tell a woman she is beautiful. I tell her she is pretty, meaning attractive and sexy.

Landscape is beautiful. Women are pretty. That is just a personal distinction I make.

If I go out with a woman on a date, I always say "You look nice". Never ever, great, fantastic, beautiful, gorgeous, blah blah. Nothing will put her out of reach quicker. You end up feeling inadequate and unworthy to kiss her feet (which I'll want to do;).

Do you ever say "You're so handsome!" to a guy?

Pretty is solely a description of looks.

Beauty includes everything about that person... Looks along with personality, etc...

But yes, to me, pretty is less attractive that beautiful...

jumbo mumbo: so by that definition, do you ever tell a woman she is beautiful after the first date or two ? or beautiful is something you reserve for later on when you know her well ?

I never compliment a woman ever.. and I suggest the same to all my boys out there. This is a perfect opportunity to one up a chick. Let her tell you that your handsome, but just say thanks and don't offer a return compliment. Women want to be told constantly that they are pretty, hot, sexy, skinny, beautiful, i mean you name it. But all that does is bolster a chicks ego and make her think..... well.... if I'm that hot then I don't need this loser. Thats how they think.......do you think I'm beautiful????.......come on, come on, men stop falling into their retro pychotic traps and be real men again. Oh and by the way it works good. You will score more, and faster by not complimenting a women. When their ego is in check and not inflated they are more likely to loosen up and give you the lovin you want

This bud's for you guys

If I want to wake up next to her every morning, I will tell her she is beautiful the instant it occurs to me. That way she knows, so if she likes me, too, we're there, or if not, she can make good her escape.

Yea, you bet I do ! If he is handsome, I will tell him. What is so wrong with paying someone a compliment ?

don't understand why telling a gal she is beautiful would put her out of reach for you -- besides, whether you say it or not, its probably in your head already anyway, what you think of her.

Well for me it pretty much means the same thing,i usually say a girl is beautiful or very cute.I really do not use the word pretty very often to describe a girl but it means the same thing as beautiful too me.

To me there isn't any difference. I try to mix up what I saw to my lady so it's not always the same thing. So it doesn't seem monotonous to her, at least I hope that it doesn't...

Re: "I never compliment a woman ever.. and I suggest the same to all my boys out there" and "come on, men stop falling into their retro pychotic traps and be real men again"
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can I suggest that this sounds like a very narrow view to have and perhaps its just that you havnt found that woman who lights your fire enough yet, one that warrants you telling this to her?!

If you truly think a woman is beautiful then tell her! We are not mind readers, and although we may be able to tell if you like us, if you are thinking she is beautiful then it is nice to share it! I have to say that not all women will just have their ego boosted by that but rather will find it flattering and appreciate the compliment! And if I find a guy attractive then I will tell him.

What is the point of holding thoughts like these to yourself? If everyone just said what they are thinking then the world would be a simpler place!

tinkerbell, tinkerbell, sweet tinkerbell.....Thats what I do, it may appear narrow to you but I understand women. I have made a lot of mistakes. The difference is I learn from those mistakes. Women these days are so hung up on all kinds of stuff, like wanting a career, and wanting to get married, wanting to be skinny, and wanting to stay home and raise babies, and wanting to go back to school. I refuse to take part in a womans pychosis by playing a sick part in telling her she's pretty beautiful or whatever. I think two things are beautiful.......... and the other one is money

That's right, Tinkerbell!! You get back in the kitchen, keep birthin' those babies, and make sure you NEVER have an opinion about anything that isn't, "my man is the greatest thing to ever grace this earth and my life."

Crazyrocker, on behalf of females everywhere, I say "blow us."

WOAH!! Now hang on a moment Crazy, I don't think you really do understand women. Not if you are thinking like that. There are plenty women out there who are perfectly sound of mind, just want to get on with life, and find a special someone to share it with, same as I am sure there are men the same. I find it slightly insulting that you are banding us all with the same brush.

I for one am happy with my career, yes I want to get married and have babies (eventually, not yet, I hasten to add), I am happy with my weight (but it has absolutely no bearing on my life whatsoever - why would it?), I would never want to go back to school or to stay at home, I am not psychotic, and I dont play games. In fact, I am just plain old normal - what most of us are, hence me describing myself as normal.

I suggest Crazy, you take a good long look at yourself and try to chill out a little, and start to see the better side of people rather than expecting the bad!

"I find it slightly insulting that you are banding us all with the same brush."

Why do u find it insulting if you know it's just a generalization. That's obviously crazyrockers experience. He doesn't value women enough to compliment them on their beauty, it's a shame he can't bring himself to compliment women but itw will only be to his dteriment and not yours.

(bonus points for me baby YEAH)...

Aye, you're quite right variance. It really doesnt bother me either way what he thinks - I just think for his own sake he needs to look at some of his opinions!

I dont think it much matters really as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I am in the majority tho, as to that, what is thought to be attractive ( slim, clear skin, good smile, clear eyes and healthy) and only attracted to women who actually are attractive.
Dang--- it will become better and many more pretty/ beautiful woman as my eyesight goes with age I suppose. The future looks bright !

To me, "pretty" means a different style of good looking then "beautiful" or "cute" or whatever, not better or worse. Someone who's cute or pretty can be better looking then someone who's beautiful, just in a different way. But I've learned that women don't see it that way and get all bothered if you use a compliment that they don't think sounds as good, so I try to mix it up. Even if I think a woman is "cute" (which is the type of looks I prefer) I'll call her beautiful and pretty sometimes just so she gets to hear the one she wants to hear.

AwP: so what is the difference to you anyway - what style means "pretty" and how is it different from "beautiful" to you ?

Is "pretty" more girlish than "beautiful" then ?

say, someone like Angelina Jolie, to me, she is definitely "beautiful", but not "pretty" - do you guys agree ??????
