| What are your thoughts on the Vimy Memorial re-dedication?
Posted: 4/10/2007 11:04:15 AM | I watched the ceremony from start to finish yesterday and was very happy with the entire ceremony. In particular our Confederation Centre Youth Chorus !! I thought they did an awesome job - they made me even prouder to be an Islander. Thank you Donald Fraser and all the young people who worked so hard to do us proud!
The song they sang, Dreaming of Home, was incredible - I have been listening to it all day. Found the words online and found them very touching.
I was fortunate to have visited the Vimy Memorial as a boy when I lived in France with my family. It is something I will always remember. My father was able to explain the battle and it left a great impression on me.

Posted: 4/10/2007 11:52:49 AM | I'm mad at myself for not watching the ceremony. I had intended to turn the tv on so I wouldn't forget. But once I get busy I forget about everything else. If anyone taped it, I would love to borrow it.
I would dearly love to go to Vimy Ridge. My paternal grandfather took part in the attacks. I have a copy of his military record. It is quite interesting. He died before I was old enough to ask any questions.
