Question for all you guys /gals out there....

Would you pose nude for an artist?
Nothing sexual... just as an artistic subject..full nude, partial nude... what would be your limit and why or why not??
don't jump to a quick yes... think about it ... seriously...

mmmmm I would consider it. DOVE is doing a great job of placing the 'common' body up on a pedastal now. If I could be paid and depending on the setting and in no way sexual, yes I think I would say yes. If you had asked me prior to 5 or 6 years ago, I would probably have said NO WAY! But life has a way of changing us.

As long as the artist was a real artist and not some perv looking for a cheap thrill, I would do it. My only issue with it would be sitting still long enough for the artist to paint or draw me.

sure actually. as a photog, i've done self artistic nudes to perfect lighting and understand how the model feels when nude. and trust me, you don't want to make your model uncomfortable.

there definitely has to be mutual respect for each other and for the art. then things will work out well. :)

cheers!

I would do it,it would be interesting to see the finished product...not for an abstract artist though,I just don't have the appreciation for it.

It would depend on the circumstances. I think the actual posing nude bit would be fine as long as it was a proper artist. The bit I would have difficulty with would be who sees the finished product. This is strange as I would quite happliy sunbath on a nudist beach but I prefer to contol who sees me naked. I would not like any of my family or male friends to see it and I think i would just die if my dad saw it

Would I? Yes, and indeed I have modelled for a lot of artists and art classes. It's interesting for a variety of reasons and it can be a lot of fun. However it's definitely not always fun because holding long poses can be dreadfully boring, if not well planned your limbs can go to sleep, and sometimes it's cold. Also it doesn't pay very well.

Things that are great about modelling nude:

One of the appealing things about posing for artists is that they want models with interesting bodies and/or they want models to assume interesting poses - no I don't mean pornographic ones. So you suddenly get to see and experience your own body on completely different terms than we typically do out in the world. It's actually delightfully liberatingand empowering. You also quickly discover that being naked in front of a group of artists is very different from being naked in front of a bunch of random people.

Modelling is also an acceptible and pretty safe way to enjoy any exhibitionist tendencies you may have.

It's fun to see how people draw or paint you and unless they're very skilled artists you have no reason whatsoever to take bad representations of yourself the wrong way.

By and large artists really appreciate having live models to draw or paint.

Different models have different styles. Once I worked met a woman who modelled as though she was on stage at a peeler joint. Both the other models and the artists found it a bit inappropriate and distracting - though of course kind of entertaining too.

My suggestion: try it. You might like it. I definitely did.

I have and it was a very interesting encounter. I love the human body and I'm comfortable with what I look like. I'm not skinny or beautiful, but I'm human and that's all that matters, really. Every body is beautiful in its own way. The lines, the look, it's a lovely form to draw and paint and take photographs of. So I have no qualms posing nude. I think everyone should do it once. And I think all artists should experiment with beauty.

I would not do that. I spent many long hours posing when I was a child and a teenager. I have put in my time. At this point I won't get naked in front of someone if the lights are on, let alone let someone sit there and study my appearance, no matter what the occasion. Thankfully we have brave troops in Iraq fighting for my freedom not to pose if I don't want to.

I have been doing it for over a year. I pose for a drawing class and hold poses for up to 20 min. at a time. I know about 1/2 of the people in the class and some I have never seen until I model for them.

The new outlook it gives you on yourself and your body is a very exhilerating feweling. It helps you to get beyond the societies "perfect" stereotype.

Since I took the class before I started modeling for it I always try to see what the artist is seeing. I don't want to have them bored with the picture they are drawing. I also know that once an artist has seen the model the first time they will forget it is a model and be focused on the shape before them and how the lighting affect it. Anyone that thinks modeling nude is sexual really has a narrow mind.

I did it for years in my teens and early 20s. It paid well and I never had to worry about what to wear to work - beat the heck out working retail.

Earlier this year I fulfilled a long held ambition to attend life drawing classes. We had 4 different models in 8 weeks and they were great, as were the others in the class. A challenge and a lot of fun between the serious effort of translating curves and angles and sometimes getting the proportions right.

I would happily model if I had the stamina needed to create interesting poses for the required very long times and if the students needed an overweight old bod to work with. LOL

yeah I'd do it.
I've been on the other side enough that I don't think it would bother me. I've actually been considering it as a side cash gig. Probably be fun.

For all you people worried about the long poses try doing it for an animation class. They usually start with about ten to twenty minutes of thirty second poses then do nothing for longer than 5 minutes at a time after that.
Life drawing for animation is all about nailing lines of action, balance and proportion as quick as possible. It's good practice for the skills they need. Its tricky to get used to, but after a while when you do it, a 5 min. pose it seems like so long.

Hello - yes I would do it. I paint with watercolors and acrylics and have taken several drawing classes with live models. I agree with everything CharmingSecret stated plus I do not have inhibitions about my body.

Hi
I have in the past and love it. I have worked for photographers, paints, sculpters, art classes and so on.
I have also done work that is a bit on the wild side. I have done work for barely legal and 18eighteen.
It's a personal choice. I'm a bit of an exhibionest at heart and im not going to run for political office :)

Yes, and I have for my art school. It was a lot of fun. I even had to model for classes some of my friends were in! I thought it was a great experience and it really put up my self confidence because I love art and everyone there treated me like art, not like a shape to judge.

How about you? Would you pose nude for artistic reasons only?
