that what i been seeing lately in vancouver and especially in richmond,bc. all the asian guys with the nice new recent model honda, acura, infinti sport cars usually to almost all the time had a cute or hot asian girl in the passenger driver seat.
that with the chinese community i see it less with white couples. not sure if they are cbc or honger types. i think a mixture of both
i believe being a chinese cbc guy if ya don;t have the money or the car-nice one that is-good luck geetin a chinese cbc gf, maybe try flip, thai, malaysian,viet or ven white if white gal willing to go out with us chinese guys-as when they come to this country are usually poor and not as rich as honger or chinese cbcs.
not only does the cbc chinese guy have to have a car ,but a nice nice recent model car. you even see a chinese cbc or honger drive a older model any honda or even american -ah never. tehy all drive nicce new cars.

any asian guys have had this problem before-aisan chinese girl all into ya and then when they see ur car-its like ahh no logner interested and shes all quite. the car be it a 96-03 cavalier, sunbird or a late 80's honda . some car worth 2000 to 6000 max and nothing really special either

I used to own a Chevy Beretta which was by no means an upper level sports car, but it looked good and sounded like like a beast. Anyway, it definitly got me more attention than I would have gotten if I was riding a bike or driving a Ford Tempo or some garbage. Of course this was when I was young and foolish (18), so within a month the front end was smashed in by an out of control drainage ditch. Damn that stupid ditch for being so reckless.
Anyway, what I'm saying is having a car is a clear sign of independance, and a good car has the bonus of showing you have money, and therefore are able to go out and do fun stuff with her without having to count your pennies. Plus some girls find sports cars sexy in themselves, and that often transfers over to the guys driving them. | |

Posted: 4/14/2007 4:26:13 PM | It could very well be the case.. I'm in the scene here in Calgary and it's not completely true.. I've seen the "Asian Girl + Asian Guy + Nice Car" but I've also seen it with "Non-Asian Girl, Non-Asian Guy + Nice Car"..
I see more of it at the younger age (like late teens, very early 20s)..
But I mean.. you can say the same thing with bikes too.. I lost count of how many positive comments I got from girls when I rode Motorcycles..
But if we're talking about Asians and cars.. Asians are very status oriented which in a way ties into materialism, because how is status judged? By what you have.. I grew up in Hong Kong and it was drilled into my head over and over again from relatives, family friends, etc that if I want to find a beautiful girl, I need to be nice, educated and successful..

Onto your post. I find the racism more disturbing than the shallow girls who discriminate guys based on cars. This is assuming I understood correctly what you meant, despite your masterful use of punctuation and capitalizations. Which brings me to my next point.
The ability to spell correctly with proper punctuation will likely attract a lot more girls than driving a good looking car, unless you are going for the shallow girls... In that case, work on getting that Ferrari.
Now, onto something that is equally racist. I am not attracted to Chinese guys in general (exceptions can be made), because of the inferiority complex in the Asian/Japanese culture. Everywhere I look, Asian girls are carrying LV and Burberry. (I have nothing against designer bags, but if someone is carrying LV just for the monogram canvas and to look like every other Asian chick, then I see a problem) Parents in Japan go gaga over blond-hair-blue-eyed Caucasians, paying wads of $$$ for their kids to learn English from them. I think the original poster's attitude is an epitome of this culture's values and insecurities. Finally, I would like to note that those "shallow" girls you mentioned are not really Chinese born "Canadians". They are hardly Canadians; their values would make them wannabe-Canadians more than anything else. | |

I've had numerous arguments with family friends and relatives because they still believed in the traditional Chinese values.. I remember having a talk with my dad years ago because I told him I don't find Chinese girls that attractive (Not that I won't date one) , and all the girls I've ever been interested in or dated were all Non Asians.. He says I haven't reached the level to appreciate Chinese girls.. The argument started soon after..
When I was in Japan, I was surprised to see all the English schools there.. although depending on age group, I don't think it's much more of an English school than it is for Japanese girls and Caucasian guys to hook up. | |

She wanted to marry for love, but this was like unheard of in her family. You wanted to be supported financially first and foremost. It's a shame but I would think a lot of cultures are like this, not just Asian. Certainly Americans are materialistic and getting worse.

If am a car guy and feel a greate deal of pasion towards them. Right now I drive a beat up under powered Camaro that I am working on trying to make a better car piceing it together and making it nicer, faster and safer.
I like fixing old cars up and making them faster and better looking, I find it a better use of my time and money then just going out and buying a Flasy BMW M3 or what ever else it popular with the kids today. Sure I Get laughfed as some times but Mostly I get thumbs up for people who knows. I am helping perserve a future clasic or at the very least I am beating around town in a car that wasn't bought off the dealership to be fast and rearly driven that way. When I wanted a car my father bought me wreches and told me to learn how to fix cars first before you own one. Now when I help others get there drivers licance I make them work on my car (or there car If they have one). There is a lot to be said for knowing how to change your own flat or Giggling the battery cables before you need a jump. I have scraches on my car and scraches on my wrenches. I want to find a girl who can respect that becase I am not going out and buying a Brand new car to start impressing her. IF she wants that car she should be going out and buying it herself. Let her Deal with the Car payments for five years. I will be enjoying having the extra 3-6 hundered dollers a mouth to waist away on geting new tires and saving up for a Wicked small block to bolt in. If she isn't happy with that She WILL NOT be happy with any aspect of my life. Simple reality.
Another simple reality, If I just happen to win a BMW M3 or a Corvette Z06 I wouldn't be geting any becase every girl I took out for a rid would be throwing up they way I take Apexes. I would get sick of the compaining so I would be driving alone. | |

I am a CBC, probably more Canadian than most women you will ever meet.
I have never dated a guy based on the car he drives...in fact I never ask what kind of car a guy drives...only what colour it is so I know which one it is when he comes to get me.
These threads about Asian girls and CBC girls being all a particular way really bother me.
Has it ever occurred to you that maybe, because Canadian Chinese families (in particular those that have immigrated to Canada several generations ago, that have struggled with impoverished times before Asians had become widely accepted in the work force, and society in general) have raised/encouraged their daughters to look for a stable lifestyle. It may not be that CBC women are looking for a guy with a fancy car...perhaps he happens to have one...but maybe he has a steady income, and a stable job.
It is not that CBC women are gold diggers. A lot of CBCs that have ancestors whom have been in Canada for generations will have heard stories of poverty and hardship in their family history. These families died working in bottom rung jobs with horrific racism, and literally fought for the equal rights that now exists for the Asians who have recently immigrate and reside in Canada today...for the past couple of generations.
These very Asians who walk around with their so called "bling" and claim to be CBC. Perhaps they are CBC...but do they know why they can walk around with the freedom that they have?
My ancestors have been in Canada before Vancouver even existed. The stories of racism and poverty I have heard would make the ones you hear on POF sound like nothing. So that is why TRUE CBC women look for the best prospective mate...it is not about the car, it is about the survival of the fittest. We know where we came from...we know where we want to be...where we want to go. | |

I find that off putting.
And threads like these complaining about why girls are not interested in an Asian guy without a fancy ride...well just be happy that you are allowed to date anyone who consents, or that you have the freedom to go to school...or that you have the freedom to apply at any job you want, or that we can now vote because our Chinese predecessors went to WWII.
For that matter, be grateful that you can walk down the street without being spat on or being beaten up.

Not an Asian guy but have certainly driven 'newer' imports and dated Asian girls/women, so I will chirp. Influence of western culture is very real, regardless of which generation or Asian culture specific the woman is from. Influential even if she's not Asian.
Ya, ideally it's shallow to be materialistic, but as talista said, if you actually "know" your history and the struggle your family has endured, and it actually " means" something to you, it is only natural to gravitate towards security, whether that is in the form of a woman looking for a guy who is paid, or a guy looking for a woman who can upgrade the family tree. Taller, Smarter, Faster. lol
My 'newer' import is now old, but I still have it. Even though it currently doesn't run, the memories were priceless! Have stepped up to owning where I live, and mostly driving, while practical, a non-bling truck :). When I figure out what 'spare time' is again, the crew on "Pimp My Ride" will be proud.

When I was sixteen I had to drive the hand me down hoopty but as I moved up in my career I upgraded the ride. Right now I'm driving a company sedan all it attracts are soccer moms.
