| Bread & Butter Pudding Posted: 4/16/2007 5:10:49 AM | Have had a hankering for Break & Butter pudding for a few days now, haven't a clue why?
For the life of me can't remember what to put in?
I know its bread, sultanas, butter and a sprinkle of nutmeg all layered into dish, but don't know if I put milk, cream, custard or what with it.
When I ask people I keep getting different answers.

| Bread & Butter Pudding Posted: 4/17/2007 12:07:54 PM | | My fav is bread pudding ( bit different than bread and butter pudding ). I use stale bread bits, milk, eggs, sugar, varieties of raisins, and lots of treacle. Treacle is similiar to molasses, but with an amazing flavour. I don't measure these ingredients, but just taste it as I go along. Ensure that you bake it long enough to cook all the way thru, and to make it just perfect, top it with warm custard, and enjoy. | |

| Bread & Butter Pudding Posted: 4/17/2007 12:16:01 PM | My mouth is watering. Think bread pudding was what my Nan used to make, she was a welsh lass, and thinking about it now, I can practically taste it.
Yummeeee.

| Bread & Butter Pudding Posted: 4/20/2007 3:30:57 PM | Hi, you could try fistncuffs recipe but as a twist try 1/2 a tin of ready to serve custard in the mix and glaze the top slices of bread with a little apricot jam. This will caramelize on top in a hot oven and keep the base from firming up too much. | |

I have a good recipe for a Chocolate Bread Pudding. I made it for Thanksgiving and my family loved it.
Chocolate Bread Pudding
INGREDIENTS: · 2 cups milk · 6 slices bread, cubed · 1/2 cup sugar · 1/3 cup cocoa · 2 egg yolks, slightly beaten · 2 tablespoons butter · 1 teaspoon vanilla · 2 egg whites, stiffly beaten PREPARATION: Scald milk. Remove from heat; add bread and beat until quite smooth. Add sugar, cocoa, and egg yolks. Beat until well blended. Add butter and vanilla. Fold in beaten egg whites. Pour into n 8-inch square baking dish; set dish in a pan with about an inch of hot water. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes, or until firm. Top with whipped cream and maraschino cherries and serve warm or cold. Chocolate bread pudding serves 6.

| Bread & Butter Pudding Posted: 7/11/2007 9:58:20 AM | Hiya, I make a luxury version using dried exotic fruits.......pineapple, apricots, mango etc., Then add a touch of rosewater to the sauce, and a dash of brandy. Don't know where I found that recipe, but it's now an old (welsh!) favourite. | |

Bake in a 35O for about 45-60 min or until slightly golden.
