Posted: 4/18/2007 2:17:35 AM | Ok so I've figured out how the girls on POF work. It's quite simple, really. They get lots of mail and are flattered by the attention, so they become more picky than they would be in real life (And forget the reason they're on here in the first place--they're single) So if you're not their ideal guy they won't reply.
That's why I've come up with a highly scientific formula to find out how many responses to expect back. You take the number of girls you've messaged (Let's say 20) then you divide it by 4. So 20/4=5. You should get 5 responses (On the high end) if you msg 20 chicks.
In real life they' d be fine with whatever attention they can muster, but on pof they get an inflated sense of their attractiveness to males so only a fourth will reply. | |

Posted: 4/18/2007 3:32:50 PM | Did you ever think that the guys the girls do not reply to are guys they wouldn't reply to in any arena - be it online or in their hometown? No matter how many men I meet anywhere - be it online or around town - I don't try to pursue something with hardly any of them. Could be based on looks, geography, interest, etc. but I know myself and what attracts me and I don't want to waste anyone's time.
As to "the inflated sense of their attractiveness" I think maybe they just don't find the other person attractive, interesting, etc. Not to say that someone else will not but not everyone is going to think you are the cat's meow, just because you emailed.
Just my two cents...and I'd like change back please. :) | |

As for the abnormally high statistic of girls rejecting the messages guys send them, well it's simple. In this arena there's plenty of fish, and means there's plenty of guys to go in the rejection pile. It's not that the arena is different and has different rules. The problem is there's heaps more unattractive guys (not physically but personality and psychologically too) and so there's plenty of rejection to get sent around. Maybe you should seriously consider your opinion of women and think about what these women are saying to you about it. | |

So women get waaaaaaaaay more mail than guys. WAAAAAAAAAAH!! 
Women get periods, have to bear children, still make .70cents for every male $,
are most likely to live in or near poverty levels if/when they are single moms, are often killed for being female in some parts of the world, are less likely to become CEOs of large companies, have less access to education in many parts of the world, are more often the victims of sexual harrassment and domestic violence,
and MOST vexing of all, many of us have to wear pantyhose at work.
BUT...........we get more mail on dating websites and we are also capable of multiple org*sms.
'Nuff said........... suck it up OP, and like the others have said here, change your attitude and you might actually get more mail.

They look in the mirror and see a 9 or higher, when in fact they are at 3 and down. Also this poor judgement may also have something to do with brain damage as well as poor eye sight....

ok im attached and am only here for the forums, but when i was single i was on this site for a bit. i didnt meet my man here in fact i got hardly any response to my profile on this site.
never assume that women get inundated with so many messages it takes them days to wade through them. because its not always the case.
if you dont get responses its usually because the women your writing to dont find your attractive (personality and looks). dont get discouraged and dont expect everyone to fall head over heels for you because frankly your not going to fall head over heels with every woman on this site either. | |

play a game almost to see how many will respond (never intending to follow up on the initial comeon!) So in essence, they are playing rejection games with these women!
Please don't make this a one sided issue! And from what I hear... if you are a bit on the heavy side (ok, thank goodness I am not!) you are virtually nonexistant here... if you post a picture showing that. And then if you don't, or just post a face and then actually meet someone - chances are that he is blabbering to his buds the next day about his "bad date" with a fatty!
