| 10 Reasons Geeks Make Better Lovers (from Wired) Posted: 4/19/2007 4:31:52 AM | In a recent Wired magazine commentary, Regina Lynn, an author who has sold millions of books about sexuality and technology, posted about why Geeks make better lovers. I contacted Regina to ask for permission to repost here, and while Wired doesn't allow complete article reprints, I was granted permission to "quote however you like and then link back to the article."
The article in full can be found at http://www.wired.com/culture/lifestyle/commentary/sexdrive/2007/04/sexdrive_0406/.
The article goes into detail about the following 10 reasons:
1) "Geeks build it so you will come." Geeks build all the new high-tech adult toys. 2) "Geeks get personal with tech." About how Geeks try to make items more personal. 3) "Geeks dig consensual role playing." 4) "Geeks interact." Geeks LIKE to have open lines of communication 5) "Geeks know how to get things done." Geeks get all the other stuff out of the way to get right to the bedroom. 6) "Geeks are hot." Duh! 7) "Geeks don't shock easily." Geeks have seen it all and accept most everything. 8) "Geeks know kinky people." 9) "Geeks understand multi-dimensional relationships." Geeks allow people the freedom to be who they are. 10) "Geeks aren't threatened by new tech or 'the future of sex.'" Geeks have a vivid imagination and accept change readily.
Regina goes into a lot more detail on each of these points, and the article is well worth reading. Perhaps to be read while listening to American Hi-Fi's "The Geeks Get The Girls"
Thanks to Regina Lynn for permission to quote from her article!

| 10 Reasons Geeks Make Better Lovers (from Wired) Posted: 4/19/2007 4:58:09 AM | | Thats just too rich, even though I think number 8 should be changed from knows to are just from personal experience. Thats why I love being a geek and knowing and informing people about things that make em go, "huh? you can really do that?". Its just too much fun sometimes to see reactions. | |

| 10 Reasons Geeks Make Better Lovers (from Wired) Posted: 4/19/2007 4:25:58 PM | I am so happy to be a geek
We really are fun (speaking for the female geeks anyhow). Not sure about male geeks besides my co-workers as I have never had a relationship with a geek. Although.....
geek + geek could be fun
hmmmm perhaps I should start looking for one

| 10 Reasons Geeks Make Better Lovers (from Wired) Posted: 4/19/2007 5:35:15 PM | I love my geek, he is the most wonderful man I have ever met. I had to sort through a few other geeks first, and so what if you sometimes have to dress up like Sylvanas Windrunner occasionally, it's totally worth it. In my experience:
A geek can fix your computer. Hook up your surround sound. When he says he will call, he calls. They are happy with just a pizza, if you don't feel like cooking. They are generally well intentioned, rarely nasty. They don't have friends who are complete jerks. Geeks are smarter. They can carry on a conversation. Since they are often overlooked by women, there are a lot of them to choose from. Geeks are far more loyal than most men. They appreciate what they have. If you can't come over some evening, you know where they are. Not running around with some other woman, but usually in front of a monitor with chips and Mountain Dew. And the best part is, they usually value you more highly for who you are, than for appearance. So, if you are sick, or don't feel like getting all dolled up, they are still happy to see you. It's easier to be yourself with a geek.

| 10 Reasons Geeks Make Better Lovers (from Wired) Posted: 4/19/2007 7:49:04 PM | Well, I don't consider myself a geek (more like a goofy guy), but then again i've been told I look geeky, is that because I like computers a lot.. LOL.. Anyways if I am then I totally agree and support your 10 Reasons.. hahahahah.. But only if I am a geek.. | |

| 10 Reasons Geeks Make Better Lovers (from Wired) Posted: 4/20/2007 12:29:45 AM | | Well I have never considered myself a qeek but well after reading this I basically have all the same qualities so well maybe I am but well who is to say we are the geeks maybe we are the real men. See I am very handy as I can fix pretty much anything I put my mind to I am open and honest, don't sleep around, find quality friends more important than quality. I love technology, everything from computers to t.v's, stereos. If I say I will do something I will. Ya I must be a geek but well it is hard to refer to myself as such but on the other hand I am proud of who I am so if that is a geek so be it. | |

| 10 Reasons Geeks Make Better Lovers (from Wired) Posted: 4/20/2007 7:59:57 AM | How much easier could it be find a geek than the one who started the thread? ;)
As to the geek + geek relationship... I was in one about 10 years ago for 3 years. It was fun, and we enjoyed ourselves, and when we decided we wanted to go our seperate ways it was amicable. Hell, she was at my wedding, and I was invited to hers. We still go out to dinner and stuff now and again. Her husband is an UBERgeek (read, engineer.)

| 10 Reasons Geeks Make Better Lovers (from Wired) Posted: 4/20/2007 8:07:04 AM | I admit...I'm a geek. Sure, this blonde mullet and leather jacket may LOOK badass. Inside it's all about the toys, hwo they work, and how I can make them bigger/faster/louder/funner (funner isnt a word by the way).
I totally shred the guitar, and have a half decent voice. But Counter Strike and Unreal Tournament are totally where it's at.

| 10 Reasons Geeks Make Better Lovers (from Wired) Posted: 4/20/2007 8:42:26 AM | Geeks are some of the coolest people I have ever met. Oh, wait maybe I'm one, hehe.
15 years of AD&D, 10 years of MTG, now is mostly online gaming.. Ultima Online, Star Wars Galaxies and World of Warcraft. Playing the games was not near as fun as writing scripts to macro the characters to uber proportions. Computer programmers don't byte, they nybble a bit. ;)

| 10 Reasons Geeks Make Better Lovers (from Wired) Posted: 4/20/2007 9:16:59 AM | It's true, geeks tend to be perfectionists... so we devote a lot of time and energy into being good at things that interest us. And every geek is interested in sex. :D

| 10 Reasons Geeks Make Better Lovers (from Wired) Posted: 4/20/2007 9:35:20 AM | On line...thats where I found mine
I love geeks...they are amazing
I can't pinpoint exactly why they are better boyfriends/lovers but they are
Every guy I dated who wasn't a geek was a total jerk...all my long term relationships have been with geeks

| 10 Reasons Geeks Make Better Lovers (from Wired) Posted: 4/20/2007 10:05:24 AM | Some of the comments I have personally had from past relationships, and this is not trying to be braggerdly...
"Really, you don't mind that I only got mine tonight?" "I really like how you remember important details..." "This is the best steak I have ever had! You are a great cook" (Dinner, folks, not dessert.) "... you honestly don't care if we go to the late movie and I wear my pj's?" "Geek Squad woulda charged me $200 for that! It took 10 minutes!"
But my favorite is "I didn't have any idea that I would like 'x!' WOW!"
Dating a geek tends to expand one's horizons.

| 10 Reasons Geeks Make Better Lovers (from Wired) Posted: 4/22/2007 6:07:57 AM | I am a total geek and proud. However, here in San Diego being a geek is like being a social leper lol. I would love to find a nice geeky girl to lavish with my geeky attention but they seem to be like unicorns; I have read about them (in monster manual of course ) but I have yet to meet one. | |
