You see them on the news spouting off about everything like there better then everyone else and normally there so out of touch and twisted them self they are hardly the one to give advice.
The latest one was Sheryl crow and the one piece of toilet paper thing. First I doubt I could even do that! And I won’t even try it.. Second we would double or tipple the usage of petroleum jelly as we all would have raw a$$ from it.. This woman probably uses more gas, electricity, wood, and such then the average person with her touring.. Hypocrites and that chaps my Butt. I like her music but that was just dum
|
| celebrity know it all's Posted: 4/29/2007 7:55:10 PM | | dum lmao I thought it was spelled d.u.m.b. but I digress . Last I heard this is America and Sheryl Crowe has every right to give her opinion . You make judgments about this lady , but truly you offer no evidence that she uses anymore resources than the average person .Seems you are stereotyping someone of means . I think its great that someone who has a voice is concerned about our environment . We need more Sheryl Crowes not less in this world . This circumstancial evidence based on her wealth is not fair , just like it is not fair to judge or stereotype the impoverished in our society ,on whatever issue. | |
|
| celebrity know it all's Posted: 4/29/2007 8:15:02 PM | The dum.was a typo.. I normally type out my post on word.. I missed the D.. Oh well.
Evidence ok fair enough.. Now she is on the stop the global warming tour.. How do to propose she gets to these events or even her tours? Planes? Busses,Semi trucks a fleet of them, stages there’s tons of wood use to build them, not to mention the gobs of power to run the sound, lights and so on.. then i am sure she has a nice big house maybe two that love to gobble up the energy as well.. well I don’t know about you but I am willing to bet I don’t use nor do many ¼ of the resources she uses and I am to use one sheet of paper.. give me a break!
Let’s see I bought a car that gets 37 miles to the gallon, puts out little pollution, a new efficient furnace, both cutting my consumption in half as well as my bill..
Sure she has the right to her opinion.. She can say what SHE her self is going to do But don’t tell me what I need to do when she is no better and in fact is much worse.. I bet she uses more paper to print her programs and tickets for her shows then I use in A$$ wipe in 3 years.
|
| celebrity know it all's Posted: 4/29/2007 8:25:32 PM | | LOL You BET . That statement right there means you concede you do not know for sure. In America our whole basis is innocent until proven guilty. 99.999 percent does not mean guilty . People on the right tend to throw out all sorts of accusations without proof . I hear it all the time... its called talk radio . | |
|
| celebrity know it all's Posted: 4/30/2007 1:22:11 AM | The one square of toilet paper thing was stupid. I can understand why Karl Rove didn't want her touching him. | |
|
| celebrity know it all's Posted: 4/30/2007 1:56:28 AM | When I first saw this thread, the first thing I remember was Tom Cruise's self-professed knowledge of the history of psychiatry. Hahahahahahaha. But he's a Scientologist, so he can also fly and probably turn invisible, depending on how many of those books he's read.
But our society has become so obsessed with everything (no matter how mundane) about celebrities that I think I'm more annoyed with the talking heads who actually get paid to rant about them (every other VH1 special, the E! Channel, etc.) than the actual celebrities themselves.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I think it's noble to speak out on a cause if you know your voice will be heard. It's a good way to take advantage of your situation. But when their opinions hold more value than anyone else just because they're on TV, then there's a problem.
|
| celebrity know it all's Posted: 4/30/2007 4:53:58 PM | I do know for sure.. What more proof do you need? You want receipts? You think she doesn’t have a luxury tour buss? I know she dose.. I’ve see it.. You think she doesn’t have a fleet of semi truck to move all that equipment? Using tons of fuel, and spewing out pollution. I know I’ve seen them. You think she doesn’t use planes? More then that average person? You think all her Cd jackets, tickets, posters, programs don’t use up the precious trees she is trying to save..
You think it doesn’t take tons of electricity to run the lights of the stadiums, sound systems, lights.. It has nothing to do with left or right, rich or poor. It has to do with people that are not setting an example telling others how to live.. Ed Begley JR I have all the respect in the world for him even if I don't agree with all his views.. Why? Because he lives to the best of his abilities to practice what he preaches and encourages other by his life style not stating what others need to do.
But when their opinions hold more value than anyone else just because they're on TV, then there's a problem. I agree

| celebrity know it all's Posted: 4/30/2007 7:44:43 PM | | I think some of you people that are so anti Sheryl Crowe should be more concerned with misspelling easy words than how many pieces of toilet paper Sheryl Crowe uses . It is unbelievable to me why so many people get so worked up over Sheryl . lmao . I like Sheryl Crowe and she makes good music and if she feels something can help the environment , than its her constitutional right to speak it . The fact that she has a bigger platform to express her opinions is irrelevent . Life is not always fair. Rush wannabes , get over it . | |

The day Tom Cruise got in Matt Lauer's face was the day Maverick died for me. What a wack job. The only reason they get a platform to speak from is because they are already famous. Some of them are ok, I think Bono, while controverisal, does a lot of good things, but for the most part they are a lot of wind.
P.S. Sheryl Crowe has a new tour bus that is run on corn or something....so she's ok too in my book. If they practice what they preach, that's alright by me.

Thank you for having the balls to say this. I totally agree with you.
Okay - Maybe they have all this time to sit by the pool and ponder world events - I personally dont think this is what they are pondering - I think they use thier celebrity status as thier soapbox - I think the common folk of this world have better ideas and better vision and a better hold on what is going on then them - I mean, I cook for myself- no one else is doing it - I apply my own makeup and do my own hair- no one else is doing this for me. I wipe my own a**- no one else is doing this for me.
I do not listen to anything they say and I put no faith in thier views. I dont care - I can think for myself- if I want to use corn to run my car I dont need Cheryl Crowe to bring it to my attention.
These people can do whatever they want to save the planet and I will do my part - I dont need to take the lead from them - like they are the Messiah and I should listen because they are famous and what they do is gold - yeah they have the money to do what they do and bring it to the forefront - there are lots of people behind the scenes who do just as much - without the fanfare or the kudos- What do you think - Angelina was the first person to ever adopt a child from Africa - There are tons of families in the United States and around the world who have done this- You just dont see them on the cover of Time Magazine.

He played a character named Maverick in Top Gun. I've lost that lovin' feeling now. Sad sad sad.

She must shit like a rabbit, in which case she'd love the parks in Walkersville, Maryland.

What's up with the TP issues these days on the forums? Do you people need more fiber? Damn, folks! Eat some veggies! Take some Metamucil! Prune juice! Whatever it takes to get your mind off your ass!

Edit: I enjoy celebrity know-it-alls. They're doing what they're supposed to be doing: making me laugh and entertaining the hell out of me; never mind that I'm laughing at them.

| celebrity know it all's Posted: 5/2/2007 3:20:59 PM | | It is Celebrities who shove their political views down our throats that irks me. Take for example the Beastie Boys. I was a big fan of their music but when To the 5 Buroughs came out and they went all political it irritated me. Like with the Dixie Chicks as well. I don't give a crap what your political stance is I pay you my money to be entertained thats it. Sorry but thats how I feel entertainers are to entertain not dictate people's political points of view. | |

some Guy/girl that pays $500 for a hair cut, thousands for their outfit telling me to use one square of TP? Or other such nonsence..LOL! I also agree some do good things like bono, Angelina jolie and such.. But I also don’t see them pointing a finger at me or you telling me WE need to cut back..
Sad thing is I don’t even buy in to the green house effect, but I still do my part to save energy, not pollute, conserve.. I think it’s just the right thing to do financially, for the next generation and for the health of the planet over all..

| celebrity know it all's Posted: 5/2/2007 4:54:34 PM | Interesting thread Jim, and I heard about the Sheryl Crowe 1 piece of toilet paper and if it works for her, more power, as for me, give me several pieces thank you..lol
I feel that many celeberties have the right to their viewpoint, and I like to think they actually follow what they say. I am somewhat amazed by how much attention Anna Nicole Smith death and how many people glamourize this particular woman. If its taught us anything, its important to get our affairs in order and have a will that is current, if anything she was extremely disorganized. The tragic aspect of fame, is that people who don't have it, put many on pedestal and draw on every word. This is why I think we see growing Papparazzi chasing after a famous person, so that tabloids can sell what is real or fabricated. When I hear a celeberity endorsing a product, claiming to be clean & sober, or wanting to adopt children from afar, then I can only hope its not just for the spotlight but they actually do it, and want the same by sharing their positive results.

And had no choice but to use the public rest room.. Would she cover the seat with TP? And could she wipe with one sheet of that 1 ply rice paper they use in the public rest room?
I know I build and weave a friggin birds Nest on that thing if I have to go..
Also.. Know I don’t hate her.. I like her and her music.. Just thought the comment was dumb. Now Rosie? Don’t get me started..

| celebrity know it all's Posted: 5/11/2007 11:48:31 AM | Paris Hitlon should be given the dumb blonde award for all her stupidity. If I was her fired agent, she layed blame for the legal woo's and returns to work with her, can we say ...Stupid!!
I don't know if our society has been brainwashed into thinking socialites or famous people deserve to be in the spotlight. I really question the reality tv show's that allow to view the private lives of celeberties. Are they desperate for money or attention and when the viewers turn into reality tv, you're giving the producers to come up with show's that have no content.
Let's ask ourselves this question, what has this famous person done to get this attention. Do they donate their time to things that need change or party because they can unlimited amount of cash? The simple life, Ozzy Ozborne, Danny Bonaducci, Hollywood kids, Survivor, The Apprentice with Trump or Stewart to Big brother have reduce our intellect, to what is great viewing to the public and giving them fame, when their star isn't as bright anymore.

| celebrity know it all's Posted: 5/12/2007 2:04:34 PM | | Well, unfortunately, our youth has been brainwashed into idolizing these people. I mean, I don't know about any of these instances other then what I've picked up in conversation, but the fact of the matter is that no matter what celebrities do/say, people notice. I think that even if they don't always practice what they preach, even preaching the right thing is a plus. I mean, remember when actors, singers etc joined the military in war time to set an example? Gone are those days, and I think we should all do what we can to encourage our celebrities to set a good example any way they can. | |
