Posted: 4/26/2005 11:06:52 AM | Jesus had it all wrong. Think about it. He had to walk. He didn’t have a cell phone to check his e-mail. He couldn’t watch reruns of Gilligan’s Island, the Beverly Hillbillies, or keep up with the soap operas. Come to think of it, He couldn’t memorize the batting averages of the ’52 Yankees, root for the Cowboys on Sunday, or enjoy a good cigar with a martini while reading the Wall Street Journal at the country club after a hard day chasing golf balls.
But what do you think America would pay, $50,000, a plate for a dinner with God?
Think about political fund raisers, shoe endorsements, maybe a weather spot on Good Morning America, Oh! The money God would get from all the lottery and bingo winnings, and bets in Vegas!
And for Sunday sermons, billboards with little quotes, ‘Sinners Welcome Don’t Forget Your Wallet,’ ‘Visa and Master Card Accepted By God,’ ‘Give Today Or Be Gone Tomorrow,’ maybe ‘Souls Saved For $100 a Week.’
Poor Jesus. He could have had it all. He could have been America’s Greatest Preacher, or The Great American Patriot Preacher, The True Patriotic American Preacher, something with American and patriot together would sell like…..like…….uh…..hotcakes and freedom fires, or hot dogs.
Of course as it is, who could be displeased to ride in the backseat of Jimmy Swaggart’s limo sipping champagne while talking about the soul saving business?
Besides, Jesus wouldn’t make a good American. He wouldn’t fit in. He doesn’t mingle. He doesn’t like liars, cheats, thieves, hypocrites, or lawyers. He’s not known for His tact, or uniting the Jews. The rich didn’t like Him, the poor couldn’t understand Him, the educated tried to disprove Him, and the uneducated couldn’t believe Him.
He wasn’t a star on ‘Survivor.’ He hasn’t made any CDs that can be played backward to hear satanic messages. He never batted .300, or hit 60 home runs, never led His team to the Super Bowl, and wasn’t a pro wrestler. He’s not on any American sports team or riding the Tour de France. He never made a movie, discovered a new pill, new drug, or diet. He didn’t work for corporate thought or governmental idea. Hey! No wonder they put Him to death! What good was he?
And death appears the only election He could win. He didn’t have gaboodles of money to pay for losing it.

SOME JUST LAY DOWN AND WAIT FOR ALL OTHERS TO DO THEIR WORK! SOME ARE PASSIVE SOME ARE ACTIVE.
A WAGON FILLED WITH ROCKS IS HARD TO PUSH UP A MOUNTAIN BY YOURSELF!
ONE COMES ALONG AND CUTS YOUR LEFT ARM OFF BUT YOU DON`T GIVE UP, YOU ARE STILL PUSHING.
DESPITE THE LOSS OF BLOOD YOU MADE IT TO THE TOP.
ONE COMES ALONG AND STABS YOU IN THE HEART WITH A KNIFE. DESPITE THE BLOOD LOSS YOU STILL STAND BUT ALONE AND HELPLESS!
`SOME` COME ALONG AND TAKE THAT KNIFE FROM THE ATTACKER. YOU DON`T STAND ALONE ANYLONGER. `THE SOME` WHO CAME ALONG KNEW THE KNIFE AND THE ATTACKER!
