| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 7:51:44 AM | I am just curious... polling really. I want to get some opinions on guns from women. How do you feel about dating a man who keeps guns/rifles in the house? Handguns included, and let's assume that the man is properly trained, certified by state training courses or military training.... I know there are underqualified idiots with guns, but I also know you nice ladies would never willingly date one of them. | |

| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 8:02:34 AM | | Great question. It depends upon his purpose for having guns. I don't like guns but if it was required that he have one (or more) in the house due to his job, I'd be okay with it. If he only had guns for hunting, I'd be less comfortable with it. Actually, if I were just dating him, I don't think it would be too big of an issue for me. If we began to get close and there was a possibility of us living together in the future, it would be more of a concern to me - especially if there were minor children in the home. | |

| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 8:12:20 AM | | I wouldn't have any problem with it, I'm actually a big supporter of the 2nd Ammendment. I grew up in a house with guns and learned how to use them at a very early age. | |

| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 9:01:37 AM | | I personally dont like the thought of having guns in ones home . If you are a cop , then it is part of your uniform and so that is understandable . I realize that people who hunt think of this as a sport and the gun as their "tool" for that sport . Personally though I dont believe there is a "need" to go hunt moose , deer or whatever it is your hunting . In this day and age we have grocery stores with wonderful sections called meat departments . If there really was a demand for those types of meats , they would be offered in your local store . | |

| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 9:23:41 AM | i would stay away from a man who has guns | |
| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 9:30:00 AM | | Never in a million years would I be near a guy who owns a gun!!!!!!! Even if he uses it for hunting - I would never have one in my home - nor would I visit a home that had one!! | |
| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 9:39:20 AM | | I own them, I am licensed to carry one, and I go to the practice range often. My only concern is the type of weapons. Some of these people make me wonder if they are expecting a stand-off with the Feds. | |
| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 10:26:25 AM | | Guns don't bother me at all. But I don't have any little ones around. My ex-husband was an avid hunter and gun collector, but he'd also had proper training and kept them in a gun safe. I might be concerned with someone having a gun if they had anger issues. | |
| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 10:45:07 AM | | From my experience, if a girl likes guns, shes a freak in the bed, just to let you know ;) | |
| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 10:56:19 AM | Illegal here in Chicago and it tollay SUKS.... cause I'm all about shoot first, ask questions later...

| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 10:59:11 AM | | So it's about 50:50, guns:no guns, with scenario dependence. In the case of gun safes and children, for me this falls in the "guy is not an idiot" clause. Little ones can damage themselves well enough without supplying tools to do the job. I split my head open on a C-3PO action figure and had to have stitches when I was a mere babe (2-3 y.o.), God knows what damage I could've done if I had access to a gun. So let's state that, in the presence of children, the guns are properly stored in a safe location -- "safe" stating that the children do not have access to it. | |

| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 11:03:48 AM | | It wouldn't bother me. I'd just feel embarrassed for him when I outshot him at 300 yards with a Bushmaster XM-15. | |
| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 12:20:07 PM | It wouldn't bother me a bit as long as they were kept in a locked safe because I do have kids. Callie~I don't know about where other people live but i love deer meat and they don't sell it at any stores around here. | |
| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 12:21:49 PM | | I'm not a huge fan of guns and would prefer to not have them in my house, but if whoever I live with is an avid hunter or is a cop or something and needs a gun for his job, then it wouldn't be too bad as long as they were well locked up somewhere out of sight and the bullets were well locked up out of sight somewhere separate from the guns. I also don't see the need for a large gun collection in the house. Is there not somewhere else you can store all the guns you have if you're a hunter? Do they really need to all be in the house? Do you really need 20 guns to go hunting? | |
| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 12:48:45 PM | | No guns. No way, no how. | |

| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 3:00:11 PM |
Arugula: .... I'd just feel embarrassed for him when I outshot him at 300 yards with a Bushmaster XM-15. Hmmm... Sounds like something of a challenge
| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 3:02:38 PM | lol ^^^ the next time I'm in Texas, we can go shooting. | |

| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 3:08:58 PM |
Arugula: lol ^^^ the next time I'm in Texas, we can go shooting. Let me know & you can show me what you can do at 300 yards. You prefer irons or glass?
| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 3:49:28 PM | | there are people who enjoy target shooting and who enjoy working on guns...why does every 1 think because they own guns that theyre evil?out of the ppl i know who own guns their intentions are 100 percent innocent...theyre responsible they keep them locked up....and for a couple of those ppl those guns are a big part of their lives...thats all theyve got..its their thing....im tired of ppl picking on guns...lets pick on knives for a while...where i live theres a freakin stabbing every 2nd day. | |
| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 3:49:40 PM | I would also stay away from a guy with guns, just makes me nervous for some reason. | |
| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 3:58:16 PM | | I LIKE TO SHOOT LITTLE ANIMALS. lol like gophers...thats fun...and skeet shooting is awesome too....so guns aren't that big of a deal to me! I love to learn! | |
| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 4:22:52 PM | There will be NO guns in my house. I personally don't want to date a guy who has a gun. I guess we forget that most women who are murdered are murdered by someone close to them i.e. a loved one. Oh and you can say "guns don't kill people, people kill people'' well guns just make it a whole lot easier.
I can understand if a cop or someone in the military needs one around for their job. That's one thing. If you need one for protection, well that's your deal. Every one is entitled to their opinion....and I just don't like them. And I'm speaking as someone who was raised around guns and I used to target practice in the back yard...we lived in the country. I was good at shooting. But, I never got on any power trip nor wanted to shoot anything living in order to feel that power trip.
Guns have become cool and glamorous. It's nothing for kids these days to kill just because someone looked at them wrong or started an argument with them. I'm around kids all day and it appalls me to hear how they think nothing of talking of taking a life if someone disrespected them. Gun violence in my city continues to escalate....it's very sad. Sadder still is that you can buy ammunition on ebay.
| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 4:41:40 PM | | Do not have a problem with guns in the house. I actually go hunting each and every season that I can, big and small game. I own a Browning 9mm for protection, a Brit 303 for rifle hunting and a standard 10 guage for bird. There are some of us that do not have a problem with weapons if there is a valid reason and a true respect for them. | |
| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 5:20:15 PM | | I have no problem with it if he has guns for protection purposes. I'm all for it. However, if he uses these guns, for instance, to kill animals (I abhor and despise hunters with every being of my soul), that's a huge, huge, huge no-no for me. Otherwise, I have no problemo and would probably be interested in learning how to use these guns, aswell. Always wanted to. | |
| Guns Posted: 5/2/2007 5:28:23 PM | So glad you asked! I'd be fine with it.
Girls, have you ever seen a man in uniform rack a shotgun? Oh, my GOSH!!!!! It's so hot! I swear, sometimes I feel like I need to change clothes by the time they get it ready to put in the car.
That only works for shotguns, though. Pistol? Nah. AR-15? Nah. JUST the shotguns.
Seriously, I'd prefer not to have any guns in the house as I have small grandchildren, but if my man had guns, well, any man I'd like would be one I could respect so I know he'd be very aware of gun safety and would take care of his weapons properly.
