| Has the mymatches function been changed recently? Posted: 5/2/2007 9:03:38 AM | | Recently, I've noticed that smokers have begun to appear on mymatches selection list, when previously they didn't. What's up with that? Is there a way that I can have these people filtered out who are obviously not a match? | |

| Has the mymatches function been changed recently? Posted: 5/2/2007 2:29:50 PM | That's too bad. Why did they change it?
Doesn't this make the mymatch function a bit redundant then if they only thing that we have in common is the fact that we live within 50 km of each other?

| different colors on my matches...what does it mean? Posted: 5/2/2007 5:23:47 PM | Hi, I noticed a difference in My Matches as well. The IM User or Online now are in different colors. So it looks like they have made another change. Is there a place that they can post the changes, or is there one that I just don't know where it is??? thanks in advance for your help. | |

no it doesn't - in order for something to be redundant - it would have to be the same. In this case the match functions are different. Perhaps the "my matches" function could be bettered labelled.
One of the shortcomings of matching logic, is that people lose sight of "other" options when they're so hell bent on matching right down to how many hairs their supposed soulmate has on the knuckle of the third finger of the left hand? Hence the site tries to offer you an alternative to perhaps broaden your horizon - hence NOT "redundant". One of my exes was nowhere near to what I was searching for, and was more than pleased - just something to ponder.

| different colors on my matches...what does it mean? Posted: 5/2/2007 11:49:29 PM | | Redundancy can also mean uselessness, which would apply in this case to the mymatch function if the only thing that it looks for is geographical association, instead of type of relationship/smoker vs non/etc. | |

| different colors on my matches...what does it mean? Posted: 5/3/2007 12:50:31 AM | Redundancy can involve the over-use of a thing to the point of the repitition not being useful. It is inclusive. It does not mean useless in any definition independently.
I can't see how "my matches" are useless based only on age, location and what we are looking for tho.. it gives a broader base of people to talk to, for the last ten screens and also to send us in our latest matches. I think it would be disheartening to log on over and over with no one online because our matching criteria met the nth degree of anality.
Smokers wish we could remove the "must not smoke" filterers from our matches too, After reading a few long profiles only to find out they don't want to talk to a smoker it does get discouraging. Using the search option to narrow down the search has always been an alternative.
Oh and.. ahem.. trapped.. who has hair ON their knuckles? So I think I'm going to be the particular one on that front. tehehe

| different colors on my matches...what does it mean? Posted: 5/3/2007 8:31:32 AM | I didn't realize that somebody people consider smoking has being something trivial, but I hear what you're saying about seeing the same people online over and over again.
Then again, experimentation is good for this site if it's going to continue to grow, so we'll see if there is other feedback as well.

| different colors on my matches...what does it mean? Posted: 5/3/2007 9:56:27 AM | Personally I'm not a huge fan of the new 'My Matches' rules, preferring the older filters that included filtering out people who smoke from the list presented to me.
Maybe giving the individual the ability to define the filterset use for 'My Matches', to the same level of granularity as the advanced search options, would satisfy everyone.
