| What is a "Real Man"?
Posted: 5/5/2007 5:33:17 PM | Women often say they are sick of (other) men, so i'm asking, 'What are the things that real men do?' What are the things real men don't do? What are the things that real men have?
Are we talking special manners, money, or something else?
Spill it out ladies. I'm dying to hear what you are looking for.

On a serious note,I think a real man is one of mostly old school values.Protects his home,hearth.One that beleives ALL women deserve respect.One that believes he is the protector.Loves his mom,apple pie and country.
I believe when a woman walks into her man's arms she should feel it is the safest,most loving place on earth.His arms have to be wide enough to accept her follies,family and friends.When he can do all this with a smile and with love,he is to me a real man. | |

I think women will define "a real man" differently than a man will. I'll bet that a womans definition will end up resembling that White Knight image rather than a "real world/day in day out/30 years with the same man" reality. We're all people who change over time and with the circumstances of the moment. To place static criteria on a dynamic situation will never work.

mrs lucci hit it right on the nail .. It is funny I always say my dad was a real man along with my brothers ..They are all guys who take care of the women in their lives , rather wife ,sisters, neice what ever . I also admit I expect a man in my life to meet those standards . | |

A real women is pretty much the same way except she is the female version offcourse, but other then that, pretty well the same. | |

Most men who are the best at all the things mentioned in the other posts, are not the ideal looking man. Most guys who are faithful and loyal and protectful of their ladies, arent the most attractive men in the world. Are some women so shallow as to they would rather have an attractive guy that treats them like crap, over the not so attractive guy who will treat them like queens? | |

Does a real man cry ...or just keep 'rolling w/the punches' for a fight begun by a girl whose jealousy and desire to see it materialize in her 'latest bodyguard', but didn't because he knew better, count as real? I'm referring to the 'pin prick tests' that make me feel like some experiment before someone who deserves the same respect as that being expected of me. Dontcha think?
I, for one, am also tired of competing w/ daddy, who's either long deceased and now immortal ...or who didn't give his baby girl all the attention that she desired when he was still alive. I don't have a problem w/ being a rock of my own constitution, but please don't ask me to fill the shoes of someone that I'd not had the pleasure to know. Sorry, but I need that brandy to erase what I've learned for what women expect before accept for my having my own father, and a mother whom I obeyed more when she wasn't whipping me into line. | |

What is a real man/woman? The REAL you... you being yourself.. it isn't a list of qualities that you don't necessarily possess.. it is YOUR qualities.. YOU at your best.. what is so hard to understand here?? The word REAL sort of implies the answer, no?

HA HA you men might be shocked but there are men out there like that , wanting women to make the house payment and all bills , taking care of the cars , driving them around like a taxi service, to the point yea might as well tuck them into bed too. Which im sure its why the phrase wanting a real man started ... there are men out there that its like the woman took another CHILD on , heck I have a friend right now in that situation and shes now frustrated , the guy dont even know how to go pay their light bill .
and to lonestar .. would be nice if its true but not all men are considerate back just as not all women are .. | |

"Real Man" = A term used by women when talking to other women, usually involving alcohol and some sexual arousal. as in, "God look at that guy over there, I could use a Real Man right about now."
"Real Man"= Seldom used, A term some women may use to the man she is with to express her approval, sometimes even during sex, as in, "God, oh God, I finally found me a Real Man!"
"Real Man" = Obscure usage, pehaps used by women of lesser intelligence while window shopping, as in, "Is that a Real Man in that window?" | |

Now I know for sure that every man is a real man. They are who they are and they are good at who they are.
Ihaveaname4you.. well it's obvious from this thread that the definition is different from woman to woman and certainly worth asking to find out her particular views so that you can see what it is she wants, but I think a REAL man is a man who knows who he is, his strengths AND weaknesses and doesn't need to put on some kind of facade for he is confident within his masculinity... kind of sad how rare that is..
