How far would you go to protect your childrenPage 1 of 4    (1, 2, 3, 4)
I know this maybe a touchy subject but I have been asked countless times even from my own son,how far would you go to protect your children from harm on the most awful levels, could you give up your freedom to save your child from harm.Without going into graphic detail I am not talking about getting bullied in the schoolyard.

Talk to them. Keep communication ongoing. You don't need to scare them by keeping them street smart so I think the best way to protect them is to be honest and talk often.

I guess my question is- why would your son push for this answer? I mean, I can understand wanting to know your parents would be there for you no matter what-- but this seems more than that. Why?

honestly every parent can say i would do this or that... but in reality, you never really know what you are capable of until a situation presents itself.

cheers

I know exactly how far I would go. Mexico. When I left my husband I went all the way to Mexico to get my daughter away from him. He wasn't physically abusing her but he did so much damage to her self esteem, that I would have taken her anywhere in the world to get her away from his bad influence. A parent has to do what they have to do to protect their children.

Not all parents will do that. My mother would not have crossed a room to save me. There was no way I was going to let my daughter suffer when I could prevent it.

I would do anything I had to do to protect my son from any danger and if I lose my freedom or my life well then so be it.

Like other posters have already said, there is no too far where your own kids protection is concerned. If I discovered that somebody had been abusing one of my kids, I would do time in jail as I'd kill.

There is Nothing I would not do to protect my child. That is our job as parents. Unlike my ex who won't even buy a pack of diapers for his child. Thats where some of us differ. Once we have children we are suppose to do all we can to protect and care for our children. Especially when they can't protect themselves and care for themselves. If you are unwilling to do everything you can for your children then you should not be a parent . My daughter is autistic and she can't stand up for herself and speak so I have do all I can to help her thats why I am fighting with all I have to get her as much help as possible. I have written letters to the newspaper and to my member of parilament fighting for their help and support getting our children the help they deserve.

There is no limit when it comes to protecting. Do not be blind and defend them no mater what because sometimes they need a good lesson it is part of life and they need it to grow. But never give up and never stop protecting them.

Whatever it took. The best definition of parenting was given to me by a dear, dear friend who lost her only child: Being a parent is being willing to let your heart run around outside of your body. I thought that was about the best way to sum it up.
Cheers

I would do anything, go to the ends of the earth, kill, dismember, whatever was necessary, but only if it was necessary. I once thought my ex's boyfreind was being abusive and I took him for a little drive where I straitened it all out peacefully, but with a very stern warning that any continuance of this behavior or even a hint of it will result in him being shark food. Or crabs. Whatever gets to him first!
Every parent that is worth being called a parent would do the same thing. It's what seperates parents from DNA donors.
