OK - After reading several forums, I am starting to wonder about a lot the people who post responses on this site. If you are willing, and remember...what were your S.A.T. scores? I'm not looking to attack anybody, I am just honestly curious. Please be honest and share the info.

Never took it. Never took any test to get into college. I went to the University of Michigan on merit alone.

1320. I feel like I would have done a bit better if I'd taken it a second time though.

1460 on 1600. That was in 2003.

I think since this year, it's 2400 total.

Just curious, why do you ask?

Hi dianoor,

She is trying to prove that POF attracts scores of folks with a less than average IQ and education. She equates SAT scores to intelligence. There are, however, two fallacies in her little endeavor:

1. One, SAT scores does not necessarily correlate to IQ and;
2. She assumes people will be honest about their responses (good luck with this one) lol!

Hey OP. Why don't you ask about their GMAT or GRE scores instead! That is more revealing.

^^^I agree with you and I for some reason did not think that was the reason.

Anyway, I don't believe a high SAT score is an indicator of intelligence ( even though mine was pretty high). SATs are based on multiple choice type questions. You don't have to know the answer, if you are having good luck and have a strong intuition, you could get the perfect score and still be dumb as a brick. I know many people who had very high scores but very low GPA compared to the SAT scores. And I don't consider these types intelligent even for a second.

You also do need to understand that many people are not very good at standardized tests. Some may have excellent GPA's and be strong leaders in every activity they participate in and still have relatively low SAT scores.

Secondly, I believe the GPA is a major indicator of intelligence. Why? Simply because it's not a one shot type situation. You have to continuously work hard for 4 long years to maintain a perfect 4.0 GPA. This is not an easy job. Finally, if you do succeed in achieving a 4.0 GPA when you graduate from college ( I won't say high school, because it's way easier to achieve this in HS) then indeed you are smart and not only smart but patient, responsible and ambitious.

I have absolutely no idea - it was a very long time ago - almost 30 years ago. I remember being very pleased with the score - but what it actually was? Not a clue.

Well... back in the early eighties.... before microwaves, MTV, and Madonna....

I forget.... both my SAT's and ACT scores were unimpressive. In the 700-800 range for the SATs and mid to low 20's for the ACT's.

No SAT .... had something called SATO way back in the mid 60's ...
there are ... I.Q. tests on the net ... if you are into that crap.

maybe you should be asking people if they use .... spell check
and howmany corrections they need in their posts.

I think a high GPA is a major indicator if intelligence. No doubt about that, but a lower GPA doesn't necessarily correlate to lower intelligence because of the other factors you cited: patience, responsibility, and ambition.

In high school, getting a 4.0 was a breeze. In college, only a 3.1 (well, 3.09)--factors: patience (lack of), responsibility(none), ambition (little), beer (massive quantities), structure (none), 500 miles from home, etc. You can't be a lazy b*stard sleeping through classes and cramming the last night and expect to get a 4.0 in college.

Had a 30 cumulative on the ACT in 1986 which was in the 99th percentile, but doesn't mean much any more.

Well... if we're going to compare the size of our GPA's.... 3.96/4.0

And the Google Toolbar comes in very handy for spell checking forum posts.

Never took it. Graduated from Washington State with a degree in Accounting and another in Finance. My GPA?? Could have been better. I was one of those guys that read the book once and rarely looked back. So I was 3.0 student.

Sorry, no S.A.T scores in Canada. Besides I was never a good student in school as I just found other things more interesting. Mind you I did do enough work to get into University, so I guess that I am not brain dead. But looking back, I had my struggles but know I have a career that I enjoy, so SAT scores really don't seem all that important to me now!

I wish we didn't down here. But the American way seems to enjoy the McDiploma method so much that the assembly line educational system churns on.

I wonder if I should move up there to raise the village? I'm already prepared to hit the highway if Bush stages a coup as it is.
