Are people in your state religious?

Do you have a wide mixture of affiliations in your state (say NY state with the "city" and all) or is it mainly just a small number of affiliations? Do a large percentage of people attend services regularly?

Where I am it is virtually all of christian affiliation - both protestant and catholic - with the exception of a few pockets of islam in some of the major cities.

I really dont hear much of others here. In fact I've travelled quite a lot of the state in the almost 4 years I've been here and have yet to meet a single Jew for example. When I moved here, I remember being amazed that almost every block had a church on it and the parking lots were always populated on Sundays and throughout the week.

Well, if you lived in australia, you might live amongst believers in the jedi religion.

From here:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/2218456.stm

More than 70,000 people in Australia have declared that they are followers of the Jedi faith, the religion created by the Star Wars films.

May the farce be with you.

In my state (Utah), we have a blend of protestants, Catholics, evangelicals, and Mormons... lots and lots of Mormons.

Southern Idaho, basically the same make up as flyguy's description of Utah, just slightly less mormons and more protestants (although evangelicals are protestants...not sure why you make a distinction.)

Colorado. We have catholics and protestants... then in Colorado Springs there's the evangelicals and fundies, and in Boulder there's the Hippies and Jedis. There are a few buddhist temples here and there, but it's mostly catholic/protestant.

Lots of kooks here in Florida...I'm trying to get more evangelical at my church, the church of the flying spaghetti monster. Here we truly don't believe in gambling or alcohol and aren't hypocritical like some churches who have bingo night and beer tents.

Plus for us it isn't a cookie and wine...we have spaghetti dinners...and do take it literally..."this is my body given for you". However, the cracker and wine crowd have it easier, they toss the cookie in the old pie hole and take a swig of wine....

Ever tried to eat spaghetti while walking back to your seat at church and look dignified?

Oh man, this fever is getting bad...in a few minutes I'm gonna have a "vision"! Lets see the apostoles at my church are Chef Boyardee, some monk named Ragu, one dude from Jamaica...but he's an offshoot....he makes his spaghetti using cannibas so he is a pastafarian and eventually we'll have to excommunicate him...(when the quality of the pasta he uh...provides goes down).

Funny, the term "Pastafarian" exists in the vernacular, and refers specifically to the parody religion that deifies the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

So you're a heretic for disbelieving in the Pastafarian Prophet! :-P

Yeah, too bad for you. I heard Texas is filled with those odd Christian types. Us Pagans and Witches out number the Evangelicals here in Victoria. Thank Goddess. Most are non-religious but spiritual, followed by Anglicans, Catholics, Protestants, Jewish, Sihk, Buddists ...

6 yrs ago I worked the census in Vancouver, BC and the Jedis far out numbered the Baptists.

Hey hey, Bay Area was where the Church of Satan was founded!!!!

Mostly we just have crazy ass homeless people though.
