| People who seem to know it all Posted: 5/15/2007 12:16:32 PM | You think that's bad?
Imagine how us know it all's feel, having to explain everything to the world, so that everything is done right.

| People who seem to know it all Posted: 5/15/2007 12:24:10 PM | Yep, I have a roomate that I've lived with for the past eight years and he definately thinks he knows it all. But thankfully I do have a phyc background and put a lot of the things he says and how he says them into perspective. It hardly gets to me anymore. | |

| People who seem to know it all Posted: 5/15/2007 1:05:04 PM | Yup MOI They say the deities know it all I know better
OK, it is much about how things are communicated, some do well and others don’t have that talent. It is also about the intent behind the “know it all” some just like to dominate, brag while others truly like to share. But really, whatever another person knows and is willing to share, even if it is not necessarily all correct, as long as it is more than you know yourself it is something one can learn from. Accept it as that and apply your own judgement. I am totally open to information/thought/opinion exchange, don’t mind asking others or sharing what I know. Isn't that part of what forums are about?

| People who seem to know it all Posted: 5/15/2007 1:17:44 PM | It's great when they seem to know it all if they know what they are talking about. However, if they are giving out the wrong information then it makes them look like an ignoramus aka Cliff Clayburn from Cheers? Pple who like to give incorrect unwarranted information have some kind of insecurities. If someone ASKS me for my advice and if its' wrong I tell them "please don't quote me, i don't know". Hence key word is ASK and not to provide unwarranty information. Unsolicted correct information is okay for me cuz I'm not really listening to you anyways as I've tuned you out and only got snippets of information absorbed in my head as there is ONLY so much information that will stick in my pea sized brain! | |

...to everyone else! While I do agree such conduct can be annoying if it is obnoxious. Didn’t we miss the point?
It is also about the intent behind the “know it all” some just like to dominate, brag while others truly like to share…. Accept it as that and apply your own judgement.. The WHY may have as many reasons as there are different people. Some people are well read, experienced with self confidence and like to share others are not, perhaps have inferiority complexes and may just show off for attention. Give someone the benefit of doubt you’d expect to be granted for yourself, observe and the reasons will become clear.

| People who seem to know it all Posted: 5/15/2007 4:08:06 PM | okay...in all seriousness...I learned that I don't actually know it all when I was in university. couldn't have told the sixteen year old me that, tho! and I'm not a 'know-it-all' about everything but there certainly are things I know a lot more about than some others, just as others know a lot more than I about other things. and I'm not afraid to ask for suggestions/opinions/advice when I feel I need them/it (you tend to do a lot of 'consulting' when you parent on your own...just to make sure you're not over-reacting to situations that are new to you and your child)
that being said...when I have a tried and true (read "logical") method of accomplishing something in an efficient way, it ain't likely someone else is going to sway me from doing it in the 'best' way. and I might 'share' my method with lucky you!!

| People who seem to know it all Posted: 5/15/2007 6:14:10 PM | How about when you get told you should'nt do that.... they should really stop saying that.Or your supposed to do it this way.Suppose Im right for a change K...Should you have your foot in your mouth so far? You should'nt do that.
What may be right for me may not be for others,I love passing on my wealth of information as vague as it is...ya I know alot too,I just forget most of it. So the moral of my story.. People who tell others what they should or should'nt do.... should'nt do that! If they are right tho well that just ticks me off.

Ancient native wisdom: "of all the animals people are the funniest critters" how true
Suppose that’s why no one has really answered the OP’s question, the answer to which I have been looking for as well, one thing I don’t know and I was only guessing before . Question: "WHY do you suppose they are like that?"

| People who seem to know it all Posted: 5/16/2007 5:41:50 AM | Maybe people who “know a lot” get that way by being open-minded learners, curious about the world. While people who “know it all” may be opinionated and narrow-minded, full of false conviction… the Archie Bunkers of this world. Why are we like that sometimes? Fear. Insecurity. I know whom I’d rather be with, and how I’d rather be. Maybe. | |

| People who seem to know it all Posted: 5/16/2007 5:46:08 AM | Some people get a bit excited when they think someone is actually listening to them and they want to share too much too soon. Others are just silly oafs.. smile and nod and "oh, I just remembered I left the oven on."

Yup, I think we all have one of 'those' in our lives... they seem to know it all long with being 'one up' on you or whatever story youre sharing...
I have to agree with OhDrivers post: those that are are generally very narrow minded seem to think they know all... those that really do know more usually are more open minded with life's obstacles and pleasures.
