| Review of profile
Posted: 5/22/2007 5:56:23 PM | I'm new to this online dating stuff and have been told that my profile is lacking. I tried to change it twice but am not sure if it sounds any better. I've been told it makes me sound fake and that is definitely not who I am.
I''ve included it below and was wondering if you could read it and tell me where I went wrong. I'm pretty thick skinned so as long as you're well intentioned I welcome your feedback.

Men and women are alike in my opinion.....
We both want security, laughter and purpose in our lives. Security is important because variety maybe the spice of life but too much spice will burn a hole in your gut [and your butt] lol. Laughter is great [who doesn’t love a belly laugh??] but having a comic in bed just isn’t romantic. Having purpose in life gives you direction which, again, is very important but that too must be in moderation, if happiness is to be had. Major demands at work, in your family and/or extra-curricular life can create a tug of war that will rip you apart, metaphorically speaking of course.
Where is this all leading too?....... it’s leading to what I believe is most important in life…Balance. I know I don’t have the ability to design my life BUT I'm striving for a Balanced life. Balancing my life means balancing pressures from work, family, friends, and extra-curriculars that can make life miserable and that’s what I try to do daily. I balance my work life by not spending too much time thinking about or being at work. I balance my family life by checking in with family and myself to keep things real. I balance my life with my friends by indulging in new experiences with new people. I balance my extra-curricular life by remaining humble. I attend school part time and there’s nothing like learning something new and sitting in a room full of young people to humble you and put the small issues of your life in perspective [try it sometime].
On paper it might sound like I have a full happy life, and I do , but there is something missing. Its difficult to explain but something, or rather someone is missing......and if you compelled by my words I hope that someone is you.
I could describe myself, as a sincere, caring and happy person who many would consider a catch but who knows if my “happy” is your “happy”, etc . I could say that I’m an independent person [out of necessity not out of desire], but that could be up for debate too. But one thing I think you can see is that I'm a forth-right, down to earth person who wants to connect with the right man, like the man who would feel compelled to answer this message after reading it [can't go wrong with your first impressions!!].

Posted: 5/22/2007 8:51:21 PM | I can't see how that makes you sound fake, but some quick comments on the rest of your profile:
A full body picture will help. Lots of people who are really way up there in a few extra pounds put average down, etc
That second paragraph is too big, us guys are lazy
Your current title "Men and women are alike in my opinion" will attract creeps. Should change it unless you want that | |

- You need at least a full body shot
- Your headline will attract "interesting" people
I think you put a lot of effort into your profile and it reads fluent, except I find the word "balance" is used too many times in your second paragraph.
It might help if someone your own age group gave some input here, as we all know that our tastes and opinions change with age.
