We are going to meet up at the Sports Center at 7:00 and all go in as a group. The responsibility of getting the tickets is for the person going. For all those who are attending and so that anyone that joins late or is a newbie we have decided instead of having balloons that the members wear glow bracelets or necklaces so we all can be easily identifiable (Just in case we get lost LOL). This way if anyone comes late or is a new person they can find the group easily. GLOW bracelets or necklaces can be purchases at any dollar store. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them.
FLATLINE most POF members have seen and heard already which their talents are wonderful and are an excellent band to see. Here is a little bit of info on the other band:
THE USUAL SUSPECTS are made up of five highly experienced players. Extensive touring backgrounds and differing musical styles - from Punk to Jazz. With five players that are adept at vocals, the bands harmonies are finely layered. The varied styles of music is also a different approach for a cover band. The Usual Suspects tries to stay away from the typical top 40 cover band song lists. The material is all well known but differs from what has typically been played by cover bands. The band covers a lot of material from the 1980's, as well as some more current top 40 material. Made up of Lead Vocals, Guitar, Drums, Bass and Keyboards, this line up allows the band much flexibility in selecting material. A mere small sampling of the music selection includes Van Halen, Billy Idol, Huey Lewis The News, Phil Collins, Inxs, David Bowie, The Fixx, The Romantics, and Thomas Dolby. Some have said that the band sounds like the original acts that they cover but more similar to what one would expect from the covered bands "Live". Subtle changes/paraphrasing gives the band this unique quality.
Lets get of the computers and have fun and make new friends. To all newbies coming to the event find the POF people with glow bands and will be happy to make you feel comfortable and welcome.

| JUNE 9, 2007 VICTORIA POF DANCING BUCCANEER DAYS WITH FLATLINE AND THE USUAL SUSPECTS AT ARCHIE BROW Posted: 5/28/2007 2:21:11 PM | Hi guys. Oops.... and ladies!!! I've never been to one of these events so it's all new to me, but I've got to get my feet wet somehow, and what better way than at the Archie Browning Center?
Just had a message from "happy2Bmoi" telling me a bit about the group. Sounds more casual than I had feared in the past. While I've been getting postings about the outings, this will be the first time I've ever attended.
I'm a bit shy, and I know that's usually a woman thing, but maybe that's why so many women say I'm sweet and caring, as opposed to funny and full of action.
Trust me... I'm not a bore. Anybody into practical jokes? Just bring a Glue Stick and stick the end of the washroom's toilet paper right to the roll, so people are stuck there, trying to find the end! Trust me guys, the ladies will want to borrow it! Just watch out for their casual "pat on the back" afterwards.
Meeting at the Pharmasave with glow bands and name tags does sound like we're elementary school students, or tourists, but I guess I can live with that.
Looking forward to meeting you all on Saturday the 9th. If something comes up that weekend and I can't go, I'll let you know. By the way, my real name is Matthew.
Take care guys! Oops... and ladies (sheesh! I'm gonna have to get used to that). | |
