| | AzureusPage 1 of 1 | After doing research, I recently acquired Azureus. I went to their help page and, well, it wasn't very helpful. I was hoping that some one here could assist me.
What I'm needing is - seemingly - quite simple. I'm wanting to get music by a specific artist or song title. How do I do this??
When I go up to the upper left side and type in the name, I get games, movies and things that I'm not sure what they are - but nothing to do with that artist or song.
I'm sure I'm going to feel like a fool when someone points out my errors - but this has been driving me bonkers for hours!

| Azureus Posted: 5/26/2007 3:31:22 PM | personally I gave up on using azureus and any torrent sharing devices 6 months ago.
The far easier way and far quicker is to find some decent file sharing sites where people post links to albums, movies ebooks etc.
send me a mail here as to what you are looking and i will see if I can find it on one of the sites I use. Then if you are happy with the quality I can forward you further details

| Azureus Posted: 5/26/2007 3:34:30 PM | I'm wanting to avoid using some of the P2P programs that have spyware and the such.
I'd email you but I'm too old (again) and the wrong gender.

| Azureus Posted: 5/26/2007 9:19:33 PM | | If you are looking for music, I recommend Frostwire. Bittorrent isnt the best for music, more tv shows, movies and games. | |
|
| Azureus Posted: 5/27/2007 5:28:55 PM | Torrent programs like Azureus work a bit differently than other P2P clients.
Normally in order to find something to download, you need to go to a torrent search engine (do a yahoo on it, there are several) which, after it finds what you want, will give you a link to click on that will give you a file you have to open up in Azureus to start the download.
Also, as torrents are primarily designed for large downloads, you're not likely to find too many individual songs out there. Whole CDs maybe, but probably not individual tracks.

| Azureus Posted: 5/27/2007 6:30:14 PM | the last poster had it pretty much bang on...
torrent is best at large files, so you'll normally find the full album, or even the full works of the artist...
Limewire is the one P2P which I've found to be the best at getting single songs, or other single, small files.
torrents are found by search engines, primarily, and thus, you'd do the equivalent of googling the stuff you want.

| Azureus Posted: 5/28/2007 5:06:13 PM | If you insist on using bit torrent for this. Give this a go.
Find the album the song you want is on, and then press the enter key on the keypad part of the keyboard. One of those tabs provides an option to choose the files you do and don't want, as well the priority of each file, so that the ones with the highest priority get downloaded 1st.

| Azureus Posted: 5/28/2007 9:42:37 PM | | if you are looking for torrent sites, try utorrent. It has 3-4 torrent sites you can download from and one of them is bit torrent. | |
|
| Azureus Posted: 5/29/2007 8:55:19 AM | | Us uTorrent. It's better and easier to understand. | |
|
| Azureus Posted: 5/29/2007 4:40:17 PM | I use utorrent. It uses less resources than azureus. Do a wikipedia search on bitorrent clients. As for files I search torrentspy and torrentz. With many bitorrent clients, it is possible to download a album and then select the songs you don't want to download. | |
|
| Azureus Posted: 5/29/2007 6:27:10 PM | | Goto filesharingplace dot com and look at the downloads section. They have just about every p2p and torrent client in one place. I use bearshare for single files, but limewire is ok. Limewire has some really nasty spyware on the free version though, so I suggest finding a torrent site and searching for the pro version for it or bearshare. | |
|
| Azureus Posted: 5/29/2007 7:16:05 PM | Frostwire is basically a spyware-free clone of Limewire Pro,which is open source. For complete albums, sites such as Maxalbum host links to all the latest albums. | |

| Azureus Posted: 6/2/2007 11:35:36 AM | | Yeah, uTorrent is my favorite! I've had no problems or errors at all. | |
