| Cheap Hotels?? Posted: 6/3/2007 12:10:42 AM | I'm going on a road trip later this summer and I'm trying to find out how to get a really good deal on a hotel room. I'd like to stay at the Radisson, but whatever is nice for a low price, I'll take. If anyone has any advice please let me know.
I've already checked with Hotels.com, Travelocity, and Expedia. I was hoping to get a better deal than what any of them were offering. I want to stay for 7 days and I thought someone would have a deal where u stay so many nights and get a discount or something??
HELP, please!? | |

A 3.5 star hotel is usually the Hilton or something which generally goes for half the price then if you got it elsewhere.

| Cheap Hotels?? Posted: 6/4/2007 6:24:08 AM | Motel 6, they'll leave the light on for you.
Useless trivia: The Motel 6 was named after the room rate when the first one opened, $6.00 a night.
|
| Cheap Hotels?? Posted: 6/4/2007 10:04:38 PM | | I'll attest to Motel 6....open 24/7...cheap, CLEAN, no frills, and secure. (If someone wants to jack a car, they'll go to a Radisson first!) | |

| Cheap Hotels?? Posted: 6/5/2007 12:35:09 AM | | I have been in many $20 dives. Motel 6 is good, I usually always do Best Western. Best thing to do is, contact them through something like expedia or travelocity, see what the rates are, then phone them up, and get a different rate. Sometimes its cheaper calling them. Cheapest way to sleep is in the vehicle. | |
|
| Cheap Hotels?? Posted: 6/8/2007 9:51:20 AM | Google it,simple as!
You'll find plenty of places to stay,i found my place of stay in Dublin just a few days ago googling, usually expedia and the likes can be a little more in cost than if ur looking by surfing.
Give it a go,if you haven't already

| Cheap Hotels?? Posted: 6/8/2007 3:00:03 PM | | PRICELINE.COM is where I have consistently found good rates .... even beats Expedia and Travelocity in MOST markets I have found .. and cant stand William Shatener LOL but still a good site :) | |

Swedish church has a forum for private renting in NY, www.swedishchurch.net, both sharing and private, short or long term.

| Cheap Hotels?? Posted: 6/12/2007 6:51:12 AM | When I went on vacation earlier this year I found myself in a wee bit of a pinch. Needed to find a hotel room in Dominica on the Saturday night of Carnivale....with about 3 days notice. Obviously because of Carnivale everything around the capital was booked up or uberexpensive. Then I tried orbitz.com
I scored a hotel room for like $75ish US. A shipmate of mine in the same predicament on a different island paid over $200 US for her hotel room.
Orbitz works. Quite handy....

| Cheap Hotels?? Posted: 7/26/2007 4:14:28 PM | Vamp, Galveston isn't the cheapest city to stay at, pretty much resort prices, if you decide to go there you may want to go across the ferry and perhaps stay at Winnie.
Galveston's hotels run about $100-$200 a night Winnie $60, not as exciting (no beach) but if you're looking to save money it may be an option. Al-T's restaurant in Winnie is a great restaurant, pretty much everything else in Winnie is fast food chains.

| Cheap Hotels?? Posted: 8/16/2007 9:17:57 PM | | Call the Convention and Visitors Bureau in the towns you plan to overnight in. Ask them to recommend inexpensive hotels. I recently did this on a trip to Salida Colorado. Anything I found on line was $80 per night and up. Through the CVB I found a private mom & pop motor court hotel for $40 a night. It was clean, well kept and safe. You also might want to visit with people who regularly travel cross country on motorcycles. They seem to have a knack for homing in on less expensive digs. | |

It just depends. | |

| Cheap Hotels?? Posted: 8/18/2007 1:25:36 PM | Here's a little info on finding a cheap room if you're already on the road:
If you don't have reservations, but are already there and need a room, check the motel parking lot. If it's half empty, you can often negotiate a lower price. Ask the room rate when you get to the front desk. When they tell you how much they want for a room, tell them it's a little out of your price range. Ask them if they can do better. If the hotel is at 60% occupancy or less, they often will.
Motel 6 is good when your on the road because, even though they will rarely reduce thier rate, the rate is advertised. You know what they are charging before you go in.
If you see a hotel advertising thier rooms at, say: $79 AND UP. Don't bother pulling in. That "and up" means ALL the room are more than $79. It's a bait and switch. They never have the $79 room. I pulled into a place in Glenwoods Springs, once. $59 AND UP a big huge sign said (twenty feet long, ten feet high - right across the front of the hotel).
"The 59 dollar rooms are all occupied," the front desk clerk told me. "We've got some nice 99 dollar rooms."
"I'd like to make a reservation, then, for the 59 dollar room, when one becomes available" I said.
"Umm . . . not sure when any will be available." I was told.
"I can wait," I said, "I'll give you my phone number. Call me as soon as you have one."
"I'll get the manager . . ."
There were no 59 dollar rooms - never had been.
