| Whats your favourite Sunday Meal Posted: 6/3/2007 4:56:31 AM | Wow Marie, I have just been wondering "am I mad" because I am cooking roast beef at the mo in this sunshine!!!
Then again it's my son, who's 8, that requests the roast. He actually eat a roast everynight.
So in answer to your thread, and even though I make it sound like it's all for my son, it has to be the good old fashioned roast for me on a Sunday.

| Whats your favourite Sunday Meal Posted: 6/3/2007 5:13:17 AM | In the winter, roast chicken beats all for me.
In the summer then home made potato salad, stacks of fresh salad with smoked salmon.....mmmmm yum!!!
|
| Whats your favourite Sunday Meal Posted: 6/3/2007 5:15:34 AM | | I only do roast dinners in the winter, kind of makes it more special. My fav is roast chicken, which tends to be the what I eat most of the time. I love roasted veggies and cabbage, carrots, cauliflower cheese, bread sauce, sage & onion stuffing, roasted onion (parsnips & Yorkshire pud for my son) and thick homemade gravy. (Not necessarily all in one sitting) it does vary in veggies lol. I like boiled pots too as you can mash it all up with the gravy. Used to love bubble&squeak the way my gran made it to. | |

| Whats your favourite Sunday Meal Posted: 6/3/2007 8:03:17 AM | Has to be Roast Lamb, Cabbage, Carrots, Roast & Mashed Potatoes with a lovely thick gravy and plenty of fresh mint sauce | |
|
| Whats your favourite Sunday Meal Posted: 6/3/2007 8:04:49 AM | Yes Sunday roast is good, however I would prefer to go down The Curry Mile AKA Wilmslow Rd and have a massive mixed shish/ donner kebab from Camel One takeaway.
If I did stay loyal to the English option though, my meat would be beef, there would also be roast potatoes, new potatoes, sprouts, brocolli, cauliflower, Yorkshire pudding all swimming in gravy.
Would also have apple pie and custard as a desert
|
| Whats your favourite Sunday Meal Posted: 6/3/2007 8:14:46 AM | Salad for tea. I like that there was time for two meals.
A mid afternoon apple pie and custard. Or Trifle, not a meal, but mmm. 'Sunday dinner': Lamb based. The veg. will vary. (No to parsnip, can give cabbage a miss too.) Beef, Chicken are options. Tend to cycle through them each week. Turkey now and again.
And since I won't be having it for a while, who'd like to show me her puddings?

| Whats your favourite Sunday Meal Posted: 6/3/2007 8:14:48 AM | I'm a cook in an old people's home and I worked today. They had roast chicken, roast pots, carrots cauliflower, stuffing and bread sauce. It was delicious - compliments to the chef!
My favourite is lamb but I get a bit guilty when I see little lambs running about in a field. I know the two are the same thing but when I'm eating it just doesnt seem that way.
|
| Whats your favourite Sunday Meal Posted: 6/3/2007 9:00:23 AM | This time of year I'd go for fresh salmon, local new potatoes, asparagus, baby carrots, tenderstem brocolli.
If forced to have a dessert, either treacle sponge with vanilla ice cream to balance the heathiness, or some tropical fruits to be virtuous!

| Whats your favourite Sunday Meal Posted: 6/3/2007 9:01:33 AM | Im really quite surprised as to the amount of people who still have sunday roasts at home. I had envisioned people going to the restaurants and saying Sunday in the kitchen is a no go area. Im really pleased aww youve all made me smile. I just love our Sunday roast dont matter if its beef, chicken, lamb or whatever. Not too keen on the old pork, half the time I dont cook it right & end up with tummy bugs.
