Does anyone else hate to see "Shopping" as a hobby? I mean, I understand that it is a way to kill time. To the women who are self professed "shopaholics", I want you to know that it makes you look like you have no real source of entertainment, and that the only means of satisfaction you can find is running up hundreds/thousands of dollars in credit card debt.

Am I the only one that clicks on to the next profile when I see shopping listed as an interest?

The average bloke will last for 89 minutes before getting bored following his wife/gf round the high street. Personally, I can last much longer than that as long as I can have a cuppa every 89 minutes.

I don't mind seeing shopping in a womans profile just as long as she has something a bit more original to accompany it.

I just get bored of reading the same old profile (likes socialising and going out. First date, meal and get to know each other) surely these things are a given with 90% of people on here.

Shopping is only fun when its someone else's money I get to spend on myself.
The rest of the time, no thanks!

Who says anyone has to spend money while shopping? A lot of times, I go just to look at new toys i.e. tools, electronics, etc. I don't always buy something. A lot of people do that. Not a big deal if I see it in a profile.

I Agree ! Shopping is not a hobby. However, I agree it is a chore unless you are just out and buy something cool or nice you saw. Then it is fun.......... Look! What a great motorcycle! I think I'll buy it!

I loathe shopping. I usually go to the grocery store a few weeks after I've run out of food. :)

Long live internet shopping for teh win!

In the UK shopping is classed as the most popular weekend activity, and since shops have been allowed to open on Sundays, in the last 15 years or so, the shopping centres are crammed on the weekends. More pressure on people to spend money with 2 weekend shopping days rather than one!

I hate shopping I only go for clothes twice a year and a small grocery store on the way home from work and thats it. If my woman likes to shop it is something she can do with her friends. Shopping drives me bananas

I HATE IT ...I HATE IT....IHATE IT

I really can't understand why so many people spend saturdays and sundays SHOPPING it is the most boring past time of all.

If I can't find what i want straight away I lose interest.

Even food shopping is done by making a list that follows the order of the store.

In grab what you need and back out again thats my motto

I guess it never occurs to some folks that those who list Shopping as a hobby do so because they enjoy it regularly enough to consider it a hobby and just maybe, they can afford to indulge?

No. Most just assume they're in gold-digger territory and move on.

Actually.. you go on with your bad selves... move on and stuff

Puhlease....I refer to it as "retail therapy", no one spoils me like I can spoil myself and I'm not in debt. I also have other interests and do not live in the malls. Sometimes you just have to have something pretty or fun.

I once asked a very successful man how he became so successful? He answered “I really never had a choice, when I was young and poor, I had a wife that liked to shop at very expensive stores.”

Way I see it is that if you spend all day Saturday and Sunday shopping , you dont have time to do more interesting "fun" things ..... sport , countryside , culture , lazy days in bed , etc etc etc ..

I hate to see "shopping" as a hobby , but hey - each to their own , just dont expect me to tag along all afternoon !!!

I sure would not put that as a hobby.
I hate shopping. If I need something I go and get it and be gone. If I can't find what I am looking for I leave and that's the end of it.
There are only 3 things that I would not mind shopping for - guitars, lingerie, and diamonds/emeralds. Even then, though, if I cannot find what I want, I split.

I think shoppings more of a personal enjoyment than it is more than a hobby but some girls just love it its what they do

I hate to shop... having to shop is not the same as choosing to shop... they are different things. One is a chore, the other is not.
I do not like shopping for food, home items.. including furniture... tv's or any of that.. yuck !......but I do like shopping for things I do not need at all ( fun useless things that are pretty)
crazy huh?
I know people who shop every day as a form of recreation. They invite me, I decline becase its actually boring... and serves no purpose other than getting out of the house. I'd rather go for a walk in the park.

Hmmm. I adore shopping for furniture or other home stuff (I'm in heaven at Pier 1 and World Market). I'll even go shopping and re-do someone else's place (on their dime, natch!). I love the home improvement stores. And let's not get started on the paint chips or we'll never get out of there.

I don't much like shopping for groceries, etc., but I can spend hours in a good needlework, bead or book store (especially a good used book store). Now to find a guy who can tolerate my hobbies........
Cheers

Personally I hate shopping-
I do- it sucks . If I need somehing I have a picture
in my mind I go to the store- I get what I want and
I am done.
I agree with the above poster- I love book stores and toy stores.
I will stay in them longer than normal but the usual stuff- no.
