| What do you think of London's 2012 Olympic logo? Posted: 6/9/2007 1:42:26 AM | | Have seen the new Olympic logo the other day in the paper. What does everyone think? Personally I think a GCSE graphics pupil could do better than the £400,000 logo they have developed. What do others think of it? | |

It will become London 2012’s visual icon, instantly recognisable amongst all age groups, all around the world.
Yup, definitely Lisa Simpson.

To 28-year-old Zhang Xin, a video game music producer, the London logo is too "avant-garde". "I don't really like it because it's too electronic looking," Zhang said. "It looks like it was designed by the French or Americans."

Personally, I think the Olympic should be held in countries or states with not a large amount of people. So that way the money that they get can help build up those places. Heck what do I know? That's my 2 cents worth.

Well New York and London have about the same population so not much on this particular subject.

The price tag.......with all the graft and corruption in the Olympics, its true cost was probably around 400 dollars give or take a pound. Cheney and Halliburton should be taking notes.
As for the actual logo...I am trying not to have a gran mal seizure while I look at it.

Actually it looks like it could be an overhead view of buildings and pathways and the like.
It's the 80s all over again.... run!

I think the 2012 games are in deep trouble when the organizers don't know the difference between "cutting edge art" and "ugly, random scribbling." If they'd held a contest, and asked every child under the age of 8 in England to submit design ideas, every single entry would have been better than this.

Have you heard the excuses? "It's dymanic"... well that's no good when it also has to be static... Unless of course they have worked out how to have it animated on T-Shirts, posters, leaflets etc.
It reminds me of the old art-world quote "You just don't understand what the artist is trying to say"... Well if I don't understand what he's trying to say, then he's obviously not very good at getting his message across is he! If an author wrote incomprehensible twaddle he would quickly starve, why does this not seem to apply to artists/designers?
Then again, we are talking about it aren't we, and look at the amount of TV coverage it has received, so maybe that's all the wanted. Pity they spent so much doing it. I could have got even more coverage by arranging dog doodoo in the digits 2012 for the price of a couple of tins of chum.
