| the aussie POF forum Posted: 6/10/2007 6:37:37 PM | | i, at time, have had a quick scan and browse through the other "area" forums and the main page as well....and have noticed that the aussie forum seems to be a lot more friendly........i was just wondering if other people have noticed this, and also if you have....why is it so?? do u think we are just friendlier people??? or is it that we just dont mind taking the p!ss out of each other and having a laugh at ourselves as well??? | |
|
| the aussie POF forum Posted: 6/10/2007 6:40:53 PM | Think the fact that its a small forum group makes it a lot friendlier. But im not friendly.........im a b1tch!! | |
|
| the aussie POF forum Posted: 6/10/2007 6:42:16 PM | ah... this is a long standing question.
yep, i find it tends to be a lot more friendly in the aussie forums. It's not that aussies are more friendly (hey, i am a canadian after all, and we recently took that title from you as the most friendly country, lol). I think it's because we have a small "community" here, and we get to know each other.
Also gets us in trouble for "chatting" on the forums because there are so few of us to keep it going...sigh, just can't win!
|
| the aussie POF forum Posted: 6/10/2007 6:51:50 PM | I agree that that Hilly chick is a biatch, but everyone else is really nice.
Actually, what I have noticed in the global forums is that people don't often respond to other posts. They post on the topic (erm, like you're meant to) but it's not like a conversation...people come on and say their bit and move on. It's one way communication only, with no apparent knowledge of each other at all. The only time you might get actual interaction between posters is if someone has said something really outrageously offensive and someone gets to come on and call them "Honey" and tell them off, lol. So whilst the total anonymity of posting on the other forums can be nice for a change, spending too long in the global forum could tend to make one feel a little invisible at times.
I like the way here in the Aus forum people react and respond to each other more. And you get to know a bit about the regulars, so you start to be able to judge their tone a little better based on their 'history'.
Plus, I personally like to read a whole thread before I respond to something, and when you're talking 40 pages of posts in those global forums, who's gonna bother?

| the aussie POF forum Posted: 6/10/2007 6:54:11 PM | Did someone say something?? Only kidding ........duck woman! | |

| the aussie POF forum Posted: 6/10/2007 6:56:28 PM | ^^ Honey, (ooh, it's one of them 'honey' posts) you don't know what you're talking about girlfren!!
(oops, that was directed at Hilly) Honey.... (winks)
|
| the aussie POF forum Posted: 6/10/2007 7:01:13 PM | im not a big fan of honey.....but i will put up with it as long as you say it in that husky cigarette smokers voice...........ok my little puddle duck
We always stay on topic in the aussie forums im sure of it!!

| the aussie POF forum Posted: 6/10/2007 7:14:41 PM | it seems just about every thread that the "forum regulars" go into ends up being a rather odd discussion about livestock, or people getting pushed off balconys, or some other random thought hehehehe no wonder we seem so friendly!! | |
|
| the aussie POF forum Posted: 6/10/2007 7:19:02 PM | I think we should all try to be serious and stick to topic for 24 hours.......just to see if we can actually do it!! | |

|
| the aussie POF forum Posted: 6/10/2007 7:32:26 PM | I will need a load of firewood (and I do stress that I am talking firewood ) before winter's end, so I'll take that bet. No chat from me for 24 hours...topic stuff only. Starting now!
I also find that the Aussie forum tends to contain topics and perspectives that are more relevant. Also certain terminology and references will be understood by others, whereas on the globals certain things are lost in translation.

|
| the aussie POF forum Posted: 6/10/2007 7:40:31 PM | | Another thing I like about the Aussie forum is that you can take people at their word. If they say something, they mean it, cos Aussies call a spade a bl00dy shovel and also would never reneg on a bet or something like that. | |

| the aussie POF forum Posted: 6/10/2007 7:54:28 PM | Great bunch of people here and probably the best "balcony pushers" i have met | |
|
| the aussie POF forum Posted: 6/10/2007 8:14:24 PM | You're right, the global (make that USA) forums aren't conducive to the kind of stuff we do here kiddies. I've posted the odd thing out there and didn't get a reply on the forum (nooo, that would be unamerican) but got a mail message form a lass who said she'd been 'touched' by some drivel I'd put up there (some weak 'whoa is me' poem).
They don't converse out there. They don't get the quick wit and self deprecating humour we thrive on. If you get to travel with a bunch of yanks you'll see how this kinda thing goes over their heads, and occasionally they take offence (well most of them anyway, except those who are well travelled abroad).
You can have alot more fun with Poms, Kiwis and Canadians...they get it like we do...

|
| the aussie POF forum Posted: 6/10/2007 10:25:49 PM | I think only naamah has stuck to it so far.........that girl has grit! But its boring so i will provide the firewood if she gives it up.......who suggested it in the first place......silly b1tch!!! | |
|
| the aussie POF forum Posted: 6/10/2007 10:31:07 PM | Another thing I reallllly like about the Aussie forum is that there are people here with lots of grit (but very little firewood) who like to discuss topics raised without chatting. | |
