Let's face it people - many of the people on the Colorado site claim

"I like the outdoors, hiking, wildlife, camping, trails, blah blah blah "

but the TRUTH is that people who claim that do NOT have those interests or any desire to ever start.

One person even claimed meekly "I am the one who always gets lost in the mountains but I am an outdoor girl. . . " but tell the truth. It turned out that she hates the mountains (then why does she live here ?) and she has never even been into the mountains around here.

Most people are indoor comfort slugs with no more outdoor interest than the distance between the car door and the front door, Their lives are empty, and they claim that they are "outdoor people" to make themselves sound interesting when in fact they are couch babies. Here is a sample. . .

"hiking, sightseeing,. . . concerts (especially outdoor), moonlite walks, . . . "

Here is another . . .

"hiking, camping, biking, anything outdoors . . ".

In both cases the authors of those claims didn't even have a pair of all purpose walking shoes, much less, hiking shoes or camping equipment.

Folks - if you are dull just admit it. There are enough dull people like you out there for you to find a mate without lying abut it ! Geeze !!!!

Headed out the door for a four mile walk . Later.

I completely agree, as I have run into this problem before, both on dating sites and in the real world. My girlfriends have never been as enthusiastic about the outdoors as myself. They might like to drive into the mountains, but none of them have liked backpacking, mountain-biking, or anything other than car camping with a group of friends and a tremendous amount of alcohol. Although car camping has it's place, I like a girl that will climb Colorado's 14'ers with me. To be honest, I don't really mind it if she isn't as interested in the outdoors as myself. However, if she's anti-outdoors, she should always refrain from complaining when I drive out to Moab with my friends and leave her at home.

LOL why live in Co? because it's beautiful here:) because the "culture" is great. The jobs... well sometimes the jobs are good. You don't have to be an outdoor freak to love this place. Colorado became home the second I set foot here. But that doesn't mean I have to love camping (ew I actually hate camping I *need* my shower, running water, and a toilet that flushes) that doesn't mean I wouldn't support and encourage someone to do it. It just means I'd rather not=p

i'll be perfectly honost. i am not an outdoor person unless it invloves alcohlic drinks. sure it can be fun, but its not my whole life. i've been camping in the rockies twice since i've been here and that was just to be able to drink somewhere different. but i'm not dull. i don't even watch alot of tv. you are not better than me cuz you like the smells of the outdoors. a four mile walk? that's for babies. besides i play guitar, study, play pool i am far form dull. the real question is why do you ask dumb*ss questions. i don't enjoy being called dumb cuz i have different indoor hobies. i was feeling your pain about just general dishonosty on profiles. people make certain statements about interests and then when you try to talk to them they seem lost. well anyways i think i've vented all my anger, and besides your pic makes me want a hamburger. well anyways best of luck to find someone to share a four mile walk with.

Are you joking? Who wants to walk for four miles? To me, THAT'S dull. I do agree with you about people lying about being athletic and "hiking-oriented" on their profiles. I'm not an outdoors-type person. But, in my defense, check out my profile, I blatantly admitted it.

Maybe they're listing things that they want to be true in the future? I know someone who had a profile on another site, and she listed all kinds of activities that liked to do... but when she had chances to do them while I knew her, she kept declining, usually to go to a bar or watch a movie on the couch. People have an idea of who they are, and reality sometimes conflicts with that idea... but we all put in our profiles the person we think we are, or the one we're trying to be. Just playing devil's advocate here...

One of those standard things you have to say. Personally, I'm an indoor guy, computer honk, but trying to break out.

In my own defense, i walked across six state last year (2005). So hiking and camping are fun for me, as it was my only way of getting anywhere or sleeping. As for others, maybe they used to be into all the wildlife stuff and now they're a home-body. Who really cares? If ya catch someone in a lie, tell 'em to piss off.

My profile is totally honest about being outdoors, I love it, at all times of the year for me folks. There are actually times I am too tired (exhausted), or feet are too sore that I have to slow down from being on the trails or mountains around here.

My mind says go, my body says whoa! Yikes. I have found some very beautiful places around here and would love to share them with some lady friends.

The only misrepresentation(s) yet I have found here are people showing up ten years older than the pictures they post, lol. Oh well, I suppose I have my quirks also.

P.S.-Nice profile Bhappy.

I hope you don’t mind me crashing in on your thread from here in the UK.

I don’t class myself as an ‘outdoor person’, however I do love being out in the open air, and have recently (over the last eighteen months) discovered the joy of walking, especially hill walking. Where I live there are no hills nearby and it wasn’t until I went to meet my wonderful friend in Ireland for the first time, that I realised the true wonder of exploring on foot rather than driving around staring through the car window. Still consider myself a novice, though my last walk at the end of summer was 13.5 miles.

I only wish I had been in this frame of mind when I visited beautiful Colorado many years ago. Having always felt that moutains were magical, I will always remember the lump in my throat and the tears that welled up in my eyes when approaching the airport and seeing the foothills for the first time. I spent a wonderful 2 weeks driving around the mountains, seeing all its beauty (or so I thought). If only I had my walking boots then! Did manage the short hike up to Hanging Lake, a walk around Maroon Lake and one or two strolls in the Rocky Mountain National Park.

My dream is to return one day, complete with walking boots!

Hey maybe I am an 'outdoor person' after all.

Oh and as for waks along the beach (Msg 3) .......... give me moutains any day!

ok did we all miss the definition of "outdoors"? that means anything not inside a building. just becuase somebody likes the outdoors does not mean they like to hike and camp. perhaps they like parks, or jogging, maybe they like to paint out door scenery or taking pictures (those can all be done outdoors). lets not get carried away on our own definition of what someone considers themselves and maybe take the time to ask 'what makes you an outdoor person?" and listen to what they have to say.

i can understand if they specify "bicycling" and can't ride a bike at all, but this is open to alot of interpritaion.

I think you manly men should take into consideration that many lovely ladies probably DO love the outdoors and camping, etc., but are probably waiting for the right guy to accompany them in the wilderness. I have camped with only women, and I am willing to admit (this should draw all the true Camping Women out of their caves) that men seem to have better luck with campfires and erecting tents, etc. To support this claim, I refer you to any of the past seasons of Survivor.

Replying to moneyguy(d73441)....Hey there are a lot of people that are probably outdoorsy. I am for one. But looking for that right fit of partner who likes some of the same outdoor things as you is not easy. Not everyone is into the same things. Depends on what they can do or will do. Trying to be social to be with someone is not a crime. I like to downhill, cross country skiing, biking, walking, beaching, etc, etc. But it's not always fun doing any of it alone, but sharing it with someone. But if someone hasn't been there in a while, you become a little self conscience. Life should be fun! Isn't what we're all looking for anyway? :

I like camping, hate hiking.

I like to sit around a fire and tell storys, or sit near a lake and just be lazy.

Canoeing I loved when I did it. Am looking to do it again sometime.

I too hate people that say they are all outdoorsy, I am more into the profiles that dont mention outdoors at all.

Money guy,
So people that say they like outdoors actually don't? Hmm that is quite a general statement. The hiking, biking and camping sounds like something I wrote at one time. Does this mean you don't really go on four mile walks and are just lying?
I love the outdoors and hiking, biking and camping. Does that mean that I don't own any hiking shoes nor equipment? I wonder what that stuff in my garage is then...?
Sounds like you have some deep seated issues all your own...maybe you need a ten mile hike to work that aggression off.

I have found on dating site there are a handful that really are who they say they are. AND I am one of them. I say what I am and I am nothing different.

Why lie it all comes out when you meet them.
