| Paypal Posted: 7/6/2007 1:51:05 AM | Ok peeps, here is my experience, do any of you have the same problem. Here is what happened.
Purchased a computer game and the code to use the game had been used. Rendering it useless unless I had the sellers info. Contacted the seller and she said return it & she would issue me a refund. Ok returned & recorded she signed for it but no refund. She left a message on my feedback that she had refunded me. I contacted Paypal and made a complaint gave them all the evidence required, she did not once respond to the complaint. Even after so many days of waiting Paypal then decides that I wont get a refund. Now far as im concerned this can be seen as fraud. The womans feedback has gone down dismally and people are not quite happy to say the least. I have contacted Paypal Europe and logged a complaint, mentioning everything and demanded that I get a full refund.
How would you sort this out. Obviously I have her addy but taking her to court would cost cash & trading standards are not interested as she is a private individual.

You CAN obtain alternative authorisation codes on the net but many sites are riddled with trojans and viruses so beware.
It is always best to purchase software from reputable shops who have validated the item works and if it doesn't will refund you. Buying "cheap" is never an easy option and one should never buy software via ebay. Indeed, ebay have rules regarding software you should check out but I also think that your plea is a personal one better placed in an Advice type website and not here.
Good luck | |

| Paypal Posted: 7/6/2007 2:14:33 AM | I was quite happy to use paypal on the belief that a full refund would be given and i has so many protected rights by using paypal. That was until i didnt receive a particular order... all in all the purchase was extremely cheap yet the postage and packing took the amount to around £50... but unfortunately because the item was under £15 i could not claim a refund... logged a complaint, user deleted account I could not get a refund. I was extremely disappointed. I have previously worked for a shop selling gold and diamonds mainly as ebay sales, and the company involved were fantastic in resolving disputes. Luck of the draw i guess ! | |

| Paypal Posted: 7/6/2007 2:20:16 AM | After purchasing a picture on ebay a couple years ago, a tryptich set, i found when delivered the colours in the paintings bore no relation to what was displayed in the picture. Contacted ebay and paypal and won the dispute to be told i had to ship back to germany at own cost...end result, the charge to ship was more than the £70 i had paid for the item. Ended up stuck with item as at least i had something to show for my cash. Think both ebay and paypal are pretty useless to be honest in regard to rights and return charges for items like this.

| Paypal Posted: 7/6/2007 3:07:26 AM | I've had experience as a buyer and a seller on this one.
My son saved up to buy an xbox or something like that. As he is great with computers I let him choose the one he wanted on ebay and he told me the price and said it had all the specs he wanted etc so I told him to go ahead. I should have checked it as well though as the name of the seller was >> call999quickly or something like that. Needless to say nothing came and he had paid £90 (his entire savings) As it was paid via paypal I duly put in a complaint and around a month later we got about 75% of the total cost back. (LUCKY)
On the other hand I sold something to a customer using a dropship service (this means my supplier sends direct to the customer) I put the order in and assumed that the item had been sent as I heard nothing more from the customer. About a month later I get £30 taken out of my paypal account. The customer was accusing me of not sending the item and wanted a full refund. I explained to paypal that there had been no interaction between myself and the customer and I would have happily have sorted it out if they had let me know. Another month later I got the money back. I tried to contact the customer on several occassions but their email address didn't work. My theory is that they did receive it, but were trying to get it for free.
So... for me paypal has been really good.
I have to say that I would not buy anything where the postage is as high as £50 unless I had checked myself to see if that was the real value. It is not allowed to put inflated prices on the postage for this reason as it takes away your rights to reclaim money if things should go wrong. Learn from this experience, they are deliberately shifting the money around to get an item on ebay cheaper and make sure your guarantee is for a lower value.

| Paypal Posted: 7/6/2007 3:27:15 AM | The only reason i was happy to pay the postage... think it was 32.99 or something was because the item being bought so cheaply , i expected them to recooperate some loss through the postage. The item was being sent recorded delivery from china ,again if item lost etc can reclaim back) yet the bogus id post number given during the dispute shortly before the user closed account obviously wasnt registered as was never posted,so could nt claim through that either. I have since bought items.... one being £50 postage as was rather large and had excellent service. This again outweighed the £100 purchase price, yet what i bought was worth around £500. I did question the postage, but my purchase which sellers do seem to play up on, was well sought after, if you dont like the charge come and pick it up personally, i couldnt do that so paid the courier charge. | |

tend to buy games new only, as once used it wont work, but then if i had tat to sell, ebay could be a good place, who cares if it works or not

| Paypal Posted: 7/6/2007 5:29:19 AM | Some PC games are a bit picky about keys being re registered. Console games are ok though.
Only time I have had a problem with ebay is when I paid full price for a DVD copy, I did manage to get it for nowt in the end & their account closed a couple of days later.

Bit of a difference between £50 and £32.99?
You are told when selling on Ebay that you are not allowed to put inflated prices on postage and packaging, it's against the rules of trading on there. Of course they can add a few more pounds for the wrapping costs, but insurance should be added as extra if you want to take it and again be for the exact amount, as you are not meant to make a profit from the postage and packaging.
As a customer you should avoid people doing this as you are not insured against fraudulant ebayers if the item does not arrive or arrives faulty and you are refused a replacement, apart for the amount you actually paid for the item and as you mentioned if it is a smaller amount like £15 it isn't enough.
It's pretty easy to work out what the average cost is by looking at what similar sellers are charging or just do a search on the net. A bargain is only a bargain if you get what you want and in good working order. Dodgy deals can easily = Dodgy merchandise.

| Paypal Posted: 7/6/2007 6:29:58 AM | | bootielicious.... the total came to around £50 for first item including the postage i said... and i know costs shouldnt be recouped through postage , but as you can see from fluctuationg costs.. it does... so its the individuals choice whether to go ahead. I was unfortunate, most arent and i dont knock ebay selling at all. I do think they should have set charges for postage though, i learnt by my mistake . | |
