Posted: 7/8/2007 5:02:02 PM | | Since becoming single again two years ago I have totally revamped my wardrobe. I went out and got stuff I thought was cute, sexy and classy. When I started getting out there.....I have seen girls wearing those low rise jeans that almost flash thier cooch, halter tops that didn't hold them in very well, short skirts so short you could see ass cheeks hanging out...and those empire waist blouses that look like maternity wear. I can't see myself wearing half that crap. Besides which...at 39 I'd look stupid wearing the "hot" fashions these days. I just don't wanna go out looking dumpy either. I see nothing wrong with cleavage as long as it doesn't look as though my boobs will come popping out at any second. Cute jeans are great, but low rise??? puhhleeeze..no one needs to see that. I'm not a skinny minnie and I don't weigh 300lbs either. I feel like I've got some pretty stiff competition out there. What I'd like to know...do men really find the aforementioned styles sexy??? If not what do men find sexy on a woman in her late 30s to early 40s? | |

Honestly, don't go too tight. I've seen women with bra cross straps(I don't know what you call the part that goes across) over the top part of their shoulders. eeeeewwww
However, don't go baggy. Get clothes that FIT. Cleavage is an art that only a few women have figured out how to create.
TLC has a show called "What not to Wear." It tends to be right on in my opinion. | |

I also hate to see women and men out in public wearing sweats. I feel those are for gym and or work out type places. Ripped pants would also be a major turn off. Those are about the worst things i have seen on women. Next to the ones that carry the little doggies that could fit into their purses.  | |

Of course "men" (whoever this vague and nondescript group is) like those fashions...provisionally. Those clothes look good _if_ the look works for you. My opinion has been, for the longest time, that the best-dressed women are the ones who know what fashion archetypes they can appeal to, and which they can't, and so act accordingly. As such, it's fair to say that there are some people who can look remarkably sexy in sweats and a hoodie...and some that would look like slobs in the same. Conversely, some dress as you've noted and look fantastic. Most don't. Step in front of your mirror, be critical, and decide what "styles" you know you'd look ridiculous in. Experiment from there. | |

Just use your best judgement. Maybe browse thru a fashion magazine. Go to a shopping mall that has an upscale clothing dept. in it. Or even go to an early church service to see how the older women are dressed. They usually dress very nice for church. With the exception of the red necks that could care less, but you will run into them everywhere. | |

I saw several women in an upscale club wearing them and it looked like I was at a lamaz class. Cute and sexy are always good, and it all depends on your body type and style. Low rise jeans are ok, but you need the hips for it. Crop tops are ok, but you need the abs for it. halter tops are ok if you have the body for it, short skirts work if you have a tight butt.
If you want to go a little more classy, go a little more casual than business casual and that usually works for me. | |

and the reality shows that purport to make em over just scream female ineptitude for fashion.... 
how can a woman judge when she looks attractive to the opposite sex without some input from the opposite sex ......

Last time I went to the mall I spent 2 hours trying to find a pair of jeans that were not either lowrise or super frumpy looking. I ended up in the Guess store, where the salesgirl was very helpfull. I have a few sexy tops and a ton of cute shoes. There's a very fine line between sexy and trashy. Someone, at most ages, can wear all those slinky outfits and look very classy. They just know how to dress and carry themselves. Others can do the same thing and look like a hooker.
As for church....I don't think I'm going to attract anyone in what a lot of the women wear...long flowered dresses....eeek I don't think so.
I disagree completely. Girls in a nice dress with 3" heels or something can look totally hot. | |

Clothing after all is 'gift-wrapping' ...and I believe that you've reached the age and level of maturity where if an item of clothing or a shoe makes you feel and walk confidently for the 'statement' that you care to make, then go for it. You want men to notice and also appreciate you. Personally, any woman who feels the need to advertise her physique in a "Hey, look at me" way is not of interest other than my welcoming a glimpse of her that makes the horny boy still alive and well in me smile a bit. | |

1) A white blouse, coupled with a velvet, close-fitting jacket, with a skirt that cover the knees. Shows off your curves.
2) Hair long, or in a bun with one of those Chinese combs that sit on top.
3) Jeans and a T-shirt, with a denim jacket.
4) A skirt that reaches to your ankles, but with a thigh length-split that can be hidden in the pleats, but revealed at a crucial moment, to make me gasp and go weak at the knees.
General rules:
1) Less is more, especially when it comes to skin-baring. Lots of skin = Easy.
A little skin, in a place where I can only catch it when you let me, is sooo tempting. I have to keep looking at you to see when I'm going to get another glimpse.
2) Style is what YOU find stylish. Most people don't know this. They think style is what other people wear. It isn't. It's what you'd wear with an enormous wardrobe full of clothes, on a desert island. Wear that and it's very difficult to go wrong.
3) The idea is to spark the imagination. Make me wonder about what you look like underneath. Make sure the bits I do see are amazing. Make sure that I don't see the same bits all the time, so I have to imagine those bits again. So, you've got my imagination going. Then, I start to imagine the rest of you is that good. Doesn't matter if it isn't. If you keep it going for a few hours, the 'halo' effect will take over, and I'll be so convinced you're a goddess of beauty, my imagination will paint over everything and make you look unbelievably beautiful in my eyes. It really does work.
Sex really is about a man's imagination, not his eyes.
Edit: more rules.
1) Wear high heels and a skirt/dress that allows me to see your ankles. That arch drives me wild. Plus, it makes your bum much more perky. Wear on special occasions to knock his socks off.
2) Wear a touch of make-up. Not cake. They used to say: "What's the difference between high school girls and college girls? College girls wear less make-up." A hint of blusher, and a hint of mascara, can draw me into your eyes, and I fall into those limpid pools, and I never want to leave.

Can also sub in running shoes for the Keds. Also still like overalls and white T's. I know those arent the 'sexiest' of clothes, but works fine for me

All that aside I have to admit a few things...one, tight jeans always seem to do it to me, especially if there is a cowboy hat involved. Two is that I love camo, something about a women in camo drives me nuts. The third would have to be that Playboy knew what they were doing when they made their outfits the first non-service pattened uniform. | |

If there are words on the ass of your pants (e.g. "JUICY!"), you are either under the age of eighteen, or completely lacking in class and style.
If you are wearing sweats, you had better be sweating. Or shopping at Walmart with the other plebs.
If you see it on Paris Hilton, burn it.
If it has rhinestones, throw it in the Rhine.
If it has tassles, it had better be covering your nipples.
