We're working on a new publication for what's going on in the burgh, targeted at doing things, and getting out, not buying/shopping like so many others. It's too soon to post anything more, but we are looking at a pub date in under 2 months, so there will be some info soon. It's going to be linked to an interactive website, not games/etc but a way for people to comment/rate and share experiences about the venues and goings on.

.....if you look, I have posted for a Pittsburgh Bash.....as soon as we get some responses, I'll firm up the time and the place.

Let me know how to get ahold of your publication, Artist......I'd like to see something for around here that's NOT simply trying to sell me schtitt.

>>> Let me know how to get ahold of your publication, Artist

When the website portion goes live, I'll post that. The publication should be distributed around town. As I said, we don't have any ideas for subscriptions yet, but I'm sure we could work something out.

We are in the advertising gathering stage, and this time of year is somewhat hard, everyone is out there trying to sell ads that don't do anything. Advertising is a black hole for most businesses, which is why we have different plans to show the advertisers just where there money is going and how it's working for them. There are some publications around town that are just *horrible* and are getting high dollars for page ads. I don't know who reads them, or why advertisers would throw money away on them. Even the ads aren't "informative" just flashy and pointless IMHO.

But, the need for a "guide" to city life, and things to do is very real.

I've lived here most of my life, and still don't know any of the places to go.

And, with places opening and closing so fast, maybe this sort of publication will help the good ideas to catch on and survive.

I hope to have a pre-publication mock up in the next week or so.

Scott...here's a thought for ya...
There's a publication here in Reading called Loose Ends...which lists all the things to do around town...bars, concets, nightlife, etc. ....
They distribute it free to all the bars in town...and the advertising of said bars pays for it. They've been doing it for over 15 years now, so I imagine that it makes money, lol.
What makes this mag stand out is all the new pics each week of peeps having fun in the places mentioned...some new very odd trivia each week...and the best catch phrase to be listed on the front of any mag : "We've upped our standards...so up yours !!"

Unfortunately...they do not have a web site to check out...but it was just a thought of something you could do...

Hey Hildy-
I noticed that Reading is getting alot better acts coming to town in the last few years. What is the name of the stadium that they play at? Is it the Sovreign Center?

BTW-
THe Reading Phils stadium is great! I like going there much better than the park in Philly. It's alot cozier and cheaper! How'd the Reading Phils do this past season, anyway?

There was something I saw at a bar in the South Side last year like that. It featured a bar of the week or something like that, it was pretty cool. We do have digitalcity/pittsburgh and the City Paper. They come in handy telling what is going on, so the information is out there already, its just a matter of looking it up. Unfortunetly, this is Pgh where not much happens. I just met a guy through work the other day, he was from Kentucky and he said he absolutely hates Pittsburgh, its boring. Now I don't think Pittsburgh is bad, we just need to make people get involved in what is going on.

Yep, it's called the Sovereign Center ! Great hockey in there too !! (Reading Royals)

The Phillies didn't do too good, but they did set an all time attendance record this year and led the league in attendance...4th all time for the Eastern league...can't remember the number though...

Back on topic...ya'll should have no trouble getting something together to do In Pittsburgh !

Hey there Pittsburgh.....my home away from home!
Let me know where it's happening next weekend! November 9-11.
I'm the #1 Canadian Pittsburgh Steelers fan!
I've been to many of the local bars around the stadium, but I thought it might be time to step out of my comfort zone. Can anyone tell me if the Locker Room has reopened?
Steelerious is in the house and wants to rock!
