So when you just want to go to the gym and toss the machines around like King Kong (say I dunno bad day or something), what goes on the Ipod for inspiration? I have things like metallica and some other metal, I'm going to toss on SOAD's BYOB and some other thrash trash.

When you want to be able to zone out and lift like no tomorrow, what songs or bands are the safe alternative but bring you close to roid rage? Why?

Cheers!

On the (pilates) reformer, some kind of New Age thing like Steve Halpern's Chakras or Kitaro. For weights or the treadmill something more upbeat -- like Chieli Minucci, Marc Antoine or Wayman Tisdale.

I have lots of songs on my ipod for working out. Personally I like rock, some classic rock and dance music from the 90's. The best type of music I find is anything with a really good beat that is energetic.

I find the best era is the seventies. There is classic rock and lots of dance music. The new wave era of the eighties has some great one hit wonders.

I have lots of songs on my ipod for working out.

I use my ipod for everything now. I haven't touched a CD in years, unless it's to download an album onto my ipod (mostly download off the net).

I even stream my music either from the ipod or directly from iTunes onto my stereo.

I record CSPAN - one hour of Dems, one hour of Reps, then randomize it on my iPod. That will make you destroy any punching bag. :)

Depends on the mood, I lift well with either : heavy metal, 70's disco or techno. 3 totally different types of music, but they do it for me.

If you really want to overdoe it then Death/black Metal does it, nothing beats people screaming into your skull

I've found "Face the Pain" by Stemm, particularly effective.

Rammstein's works fairly well, Wollt Ihr das Bett in Flammen Sehen? is a great warmup song, while Links 2-3-4, helps set me into a really stead pace. Although if you really want something to raise your pace then go for Firestarter by the Prodigy! When that comes on my iPod for some reason I start going really fast... The scary part is if I start singing along to it!

And for the real fruitcakes you can fall back to some speed/thrash metal - Dragonforce and the spinal-tap length guitar solos being played at 180+ bpm are not the easiest things to try and work out to!

I use my ipod nearly every workout including running and on the bike trail. I have an eclectic mix of music...right now I'm listening to some of my favorite women singers/bands. Most of the songs are stories about 'girl power'...corny I know, but hey, whatever gets me through it. :-)

I like anything that has a fast beat or anything hip-hop...
I found this site "Jog Tunes" that you can find songs for your workout using BPM’s.(beats per minute) and arrange them into your ideal workout playlist.

I thought that was kinda kewl…

Mostly metal! Early Metallica, the more energetic Tool songs, Killswitch Engage, Motorhead, Rammstein, Black Sabbath, SOAD (Toxicity), and a little Pink Floyd for afterwards.

I don't work out as much these days due to back problems, but I used to love listening to 70's and 80's stuff whilst sweating!!

Waz, how come you can post on the US forums when I get kicked out of the UK's because I don't live there ?? Anyways, Elvis is always good :) However, how about some good old traditional football chants? I was a Spurs supporter, yidddo :)
