Posted: 5/6/2005 7:14:16 AM | I don't see anything funny about it myself. It shows that they have no regard for a country that has allowed them to enter illegally and prosper. It shows that they have no interest in becoming American patriots, that instead they want to take advantage of our generosity and still claim loyalty to Mexico. And not just loyalty but intention to take back parts of the US.
Are these the good people that so many people are trying to defend? | |

Posted: 5/6/2005 7:45:01 AM | I'm in California on the Peninsula today. Bro here has a wonderful Mexican Gardener. I used to manage Landscaping Crews, and I'd of taken 1 Mexican before 2-3 young "bucks" anyday. Latinos and fundamentalists really helped Bush in this last election. They are not going to take back anything though. What's the richest zipcode in America? Atherton, CA. They're paying 25 million there for houses to tear down on an acre or so. Don't see many Mexicans there beyond Landscaping for the day. I agree that there are concerns. How immediate they are I'm of course not qualified to determine. | |

its not about color, I have had many friends that were Mexican. Its about showing some appreciation to a country who has given them much more then their beloved Mexico.
There is a right to freedom of speech, so I don't think that we can force them to remove the sign, but I still have the right to express displeasure. | |

If the want to be here, so what. This country was designed to be a melting pot. Anyone can come here and make a life for themselves, but it should be legally. The f-cking Mexican govt. gives it's people pamphlets on how to sneak over here. Terrorists can get in our country via the southern border easily. And it's plain naive to think that they haven't come in yet. If I hated the US as much as they do, I'd be for sneaking in here via Mexico. Screw those people. And Screw Bush for not protecting our borders. I hate these happy shiny people who think that we need to learn spanish to not offend anyone who can't speak English. What if YOU went to another country and stood in line at the store to pay for something, and you can't speak the language. Oh, well, they should just learn English, right? NO! And I won't learn spanish, because we were not founded on that language. We were founded on English. I can't believe that there is even discussion on whether or not to make Engish the official language. I mean I thought it was. What are we gonna do, make it spanish? Or just not ave an official language, so we don't offend anyone who doesn't speak English primarily. I don't hate Mexicans. Or any other nationality that wants to make my country their home, I wish them the best of luck. If I were Mexican or other, I would want to be here, too. But I would go about it the legal way. And what the HELL are we thinking by even debating on whether or not to give these illegals the right to driver's licenses? Or the right to vote? Am I in a bad dream? It's a priveledge to drive. You have to be licensed. Most of the illegals who have the said licenses, have aquired them illegally, too. False documents. And the last time I checked, it's our obligations as CITIZENS to vote. These people need to be legal before that's considered. We're all so screwed. That we are taking in the feelings of people who are taking advantage of us is absurd. I do not care about the illegals. I care about the illegals making it harder for the ones who want to be here legally. I care about my tax dollars, and the dollars of all the other legal people here, being wasted on illegals who want to have babies and eat and get paid to be here because they have babies here. As if my tax dollars aren't being wasted enough as it is. I can't believe that we give some sort of considerations to these people. It's like some leech that won't get the hell off your couch, and eats all your food in the house, and leaves lights on, and won't get a job to support themselves. They're all bums to me. Get legal. Or at least make the effort to be legal. I know alot of legal Mexicans that feel that way, too. These illegals give the legas bad names. | |

They have alot of morals and ethics that most people have forgotten about. Their family values are something to be very proud of. But what's wrong with wanting them to be legal, and not pay for them being illegal out of my taxes? What's wrong with feeling oppresed, because everywhere I look, everything's in spanish?
I will say that it's not that I wouldn't learn spanish, period. Just not for the sake of not offending someone. But for educational purposes, like Frrosty, said. | |
