Why do you put "I like to ride on Harley's"?
Ummm my first thought to say to you is... SO GO BUY ONE! 
It seems like these women would date you just because you have one... Isn't that a little materialistic? Or wouldn't it make you sound like you're a bit easy... "own a harley?, come take me for a 'ride'!!"
Don't mean to sound insulting here, but I find that one line the funniest, and biggest turn-off. Albiet I don't own a harley...yet. I do want one and have a lot of friends who ride, but I wouldn't advertise it and I certainly won't tell a woman online dating, "I have a harley" in hopes of getting a date from them... its lame. Almost like saying I'm well endowed... as if thats going to get me what I'm looking for in a woman.
So seriously... any women here put that in their profile?
If so, don't you think its materialistic, and will just get you men who think you're the perfect woman to email for just sex due to your fascination with harley's? | |

Not a huge number of women in the world go camping and fishing on their own... but they will do it with a man. A woman might not want to own a Harley , but love to ride on the back hanging on to a big strong man!

Now if the woman was truly interested and knew about ridding a bike, then that would be different. She certainly wouldn’t be asking about a “ride” per say. She would be more interested in the bike itself, the feeling of it, riding on it on a great warm night, having an awesome time with the rider, enjoying the ride and every special moment from beginning to end. If you know anything about bikes, then you know Harley is the Cadillac of rides, the ultimate, it’s like buying the best of fine red wines and enjoying every sip of it. | |

Posted: 7/19/2007 4:06:33 PM | Riding a harley is part of a lifestyle. If you're part of that scene then it probably makes more sense. I don't see it as a materialistic thing. Harley owners tend to go to social events oriented towards those such as bike nights and charity rides. Then don't forget the big ones like Sturgis Bike Rally, Laconia Motorcycle Week, Daytona Bike Week, and Myrtle Beach Bike Week.

Maybe if and when I do get mine, I should change my profile to

OK...I have not looked at my profile of late...and it is invisible except from the forums, I believe...but I think I specifically say something about the lifestyle...and how that does not neccessarily mean I befriend only bikers.
(I know you were not singling ME out...but still...)
There are a LOT of guys who ride...who's wives and girlfriends wanted nothing to do with it. (And vice versa) So when you are single and looking again...or just looking for like-minded friends...you tend to want to find someone that shares your love of this.
Riding takes a LOT of a true enthusiasts time. After work, to work, weekends, holidays, etc....so finding someone who shares your enthusiasm for the lifestyle is a HUGE bonus. And...as a woman who will have her own scoot soon....well, it is always nice to ride with others, than solo! :) | |

i have seen wave after wave of men and women transform themselves from everyday people to daily black leather wearing easyriders.... i still do the style just not as new and shiny....... we can be a laughable group of pretenders.... but the Harley mystique is real and vibrant and i am sure you will enjoy it and revel in it after you start riding
are we really any different than the wannabe urban cowboys, non- ghetto hip hop gangstas, air guitar playing kareoke pretenders?
do yourself a favor and buy something bigger than a sportster....trust me on this point..... change out the pipes and give your bike an attitude...good luck and safe riding

Tim...I think I have seen a few of those myself...and I will probably get hollered at for saying this, but a lot of "wanabes" come off that way...."Ohhh...aaaah...I just love a man with a Harley...there is nothing sexier!" LOL But wannabes are not really anything more than possible future enthusiasts...once they get bitten, they are hooked. :)
This made me think of when my ex and I split. We used to do a LOT of camping, hiking, sort of stuff. Well, when he split, he gathered his clothes and ALL of our camping equipment that we had accumulated over the years. And this was in the summer. So I can see how I might have been drawn to someone who had the gear since I no longer did...might have put something in my profile way back then like, "Have camping gear, will travel!" LOL Commonalities! But yeah...I doubt I woulda been saying, "Oh...I love a man who can pitch a pup tent!" | |

I have to chuckle at this---I have a friend who absolutely rails everytime we see or pass a Harley. He's a so called alpha male with the typical arrogance/clueness so many of that type possess so naturally if he's not into something it's complete BS. He rides KTM dirt bikes and just can not say enough how Harley technology is rooted in 100 year old designs, how they can't hit top in in no time flat and on and on to the point I'm bored to tears. I do remind him chicks are drawn to Harley owners far, far more often than KTM's which he grudgingly admits is the truth. It's almost to the point where I can speak his rants for him now! LOL
Gals who post the "I love Harleys" in their profiles have become as common and cliche as a few other things once were. Walks on the beach, sharing a glass of wine to name but two that seemingly appeared on so many profiles they eventually became topics of humor more than anything else. Personally I don't care for bikes in general for myself but yet more than a few women how do seem to think they're "all that" contact me occasionally with the first questions being "do you have a Harley......?" LOL
It does appear some are genuinely into that whole thing while others do it for the attention it surely must attract. Like anything else if that's what someone uses as their criteria when dating (or not) another not much we can do about that. | |

I did the right thing and spent my $$ on a home for us worked hard ... good single mom... 15 years... and just when I was in a position to buy my scoot.. finally! Guess what? Life came along and gave me a ruptured brain anuerysm with a hemorragic stroke on the side - okay - now GUESS WHICH side??? Yep.. my clutch hand! And I haven't worked since.... so there's yer answer... FOLKS... can't drive anymore but stilll love the wind in my face... still want to call me materialistic and shallow?... NOT!!

I've had a guy send me a msg saying:" I've got a merc and a bimmer".
Like that would impress me. It's sad to have to resort to material matters to make friends or otherwise.
BTW: I don't like Harleys. A sporty Japanese racebike is much cooler. | |
