| Is it okay for a woman to hit a man? Posted: 5/7/2005 5:21:37 AM | Whilst, I am not condoning men hitting women, unless the circumstances warrant this, what do people think about the idea that despite this new age of 'equality' between the sexes, that women can still hit / slap men and get away with it, with many people finding it funny that the man has been hit.
Obviously, playfull smacks are OK, and they are normally retaliated with a playfull smack on the bum, etc, however there are many circumstances when this is not the case.
Many men are abused, and have their lives at risk due to domestic abuse, and whilst a man hitting a woman would create outrage, a ruined reputation and a possible jail sentance, inc. sodomy, a woman that beats her husband could just claim, neglect, PMS, being in therapy or a wealth of other cheap excuses removing all responsibility from herself.
One thought that comes to mind is that if a person cannot control themselves, then they shoud loose their perks and be treated accordingly so. Hence if a woman cannot take responsibility for her violent actions perhaps she should be prevented from having the opportunity of being violent.
Any feedback? Figured I'd do a "Ritz" senario ;-)

Boy, I think my but was red for a week.

Hitting another person is never OK
Wow, comming from Palpatine that says a lot!
Seriously though, I don't agree with beating/ hitting women and I don't agree with women doing the same. Its a rare moment when hitting someone, let alone your partner, is truely justified.

| Is it okay for a woman to hit a man? Posted: 5/7/2005 7:22:37 AM | no.. it's not, unless:
1. self-defence 2. play fighting [and it's slapping at hands/arms trying to entangle her... hmmm, lol... never mind] 3. he makes a remark, either funny, facetious, outrageous, and she does a *light* slap saying, "oh you, cut it out..." [or a light poke, when it's in fun]
*others anyone*
but never vicious attacks in temper, like my EX sister-in-law, man she was crazy cakes that one.

It's just another step closer to divorce.
KIDS SHOULD NEVER SEE A PARENT ASSAULT THE OTHER PARENT.

Domestic abuse and battery is not OK.
Domestic violence perpetrates dysfunction in our society and culture, and is one more dysfunctional action that drags civilization backwards. It is generational in nature. If kids see it and experience physical abuse, they will likely be involved in it as adults, either as the instigator, or the recipient.
If you are the recipient, where the partner is abusive, pick up your keys and wallet, and LEAVE.
Get someone to help you get your personal belongings, or law enforcement to back you up, if necessary.
Don't go back.
If you are the abuser, GET SOME HELP. Seek out domestic prevention programs. Refuse to get personally involved with ANYONE until such time that you have taken responsibility for your behavior problem, and made a personal commitment, through what ever mechanism, to NEVER do it again.
