Are they really neccessary and what sort of impression to they give to young women out there and what is it teaching the male youth of australia when they advertise women in such slutty form. Personally I detest them and and I am far from being called a prude.
Do we really need them flashed across our screens every commercial break??? | |

Kinda seems like preying on the young mobile phone users and the lonely to me....sorry if this has drifted off topic! lol | |

It does send the wrong message to the young teens
hey if your older than 18 then fair enough you can choose what you want but under that age i dont believe it needs to be in there living rooms
altho it is up to parents to control what they watch but as we all know the parents arent always around and the kids just have to much access to this sort of stuff
and no i,m not a prude either but there should be limits
obviously they do get buisness from these adds otherwise they wouldnt be there
but at what cost to our sociaty :fustrated

But then they also do the same thing to sell mobile phones.....How many times have you had some young english or european backpackers come into the industrial areas trying to flaunt their sex to sell mobile phones.....
And you can say, no thanks, and they will persisit....You tell them you're not interested, thanks, and theywill say but you haven't heard the great deal.....All the while flashing cleavage and the big smile and it pisses me off that they think they will sell something by giving guys 2 minutes of perving.
One shop I was in, it got so bad that they'd come in so often and interrupt us and be so pushy that I'd be polite and say, no thanks....and if they persisted and carried on I'd just say, "look, sex sells...get your fcuking clothes off and we'll see what we can all do about it"....They'd go away....just like they were asked initially....
Unfortunately though some guys fall for this pathetic marketing ploy and I've seen shelves of product that was bought because "she was a stunner".....Pathetic

How can a country/culture engage in thoughtful considered debate on the real issues when the usual fare served up on TV is such crass rubbish as the so called 'reality shows' ,BIG Bother (sic) comes to mind, the so called True Crime shows such as CSI, in its various guises, Where are they now, Thank God You're Here...the list of mindless viewing goes on... Now I am not a wowser , nor an intellectual snob but I have found a relatively simple solution, I simply don't watch commercial television..period.
The second issue is the coordination of the attack. The Ad agencies have become very sophisticated in pushing our buttons. A national ad campaign will be coordinated in the major media outlets: radio, TV, film advertising, Bill boards , Magazines and Newspapers. Again it seems to me the only sane solution is to limit your intake.
Unfortunately the kids have oftne been brought up with the aid of the electronic baby-sitter...the TV. It was simple and convenient to plonk them in front of Playschool, Sesame Street...whatever. The media is in fact what they learnt..not just their ABC's. | |

Yes, let's protect our youth. Make them change the channel and watch a late night show of music clips instead. Get them away from the writhing chick on the bed. In music clips they won't see scantily clad women pulling porn faces and thrusting themselves against tough looking guys...or will they???
Seriously though, are the youth some people here are concerned about even watching tele after midnight? Target market would be guys who have perhaps just spent a night alone in front of TV, or have been out and have come home alone...they've had a few drinks, feeling unwanted, and are more likely to respond positively to the visual stimulus of a receptive woman encouraging them to call. It's a legal product I assume, so why shouldn't they advertise it in the most effective manner. It's not like it's the only annoying style of advertising on TV.

They would not keep showing the ads if they were not making money from it, so it paints a picture of maybe how many people out there are feeling lonely enough to ring them.
It sounds like another example of businesses taking advantage of social problems to make a profit. Like the 'cash converter' type stores that opened up everywhere once the casino was built in Brisbane...

anywho i dont agree with them, i dont care that males between 16- 25 use the services more than anyone else, i dont care that anyone uses the services what i do care is when my daughter wants to tape a late night show, such as a movie and shes flooded with all these pathetic ads.

Personally it just becomes part of the wallpaper if I am awake that late to see it on tv. | |
