I just had to post this: I received an email from a guy who seemed like a nice man, we exchanged emails for a few days
We had talked about meeting but a couple of days before we were supposed to meet, he sends me an email and says "I'm sorry, I didnt know you had a dog, I can not go out with you because I hate dogs!" What the heck is up with that? If he had looked at my profile he would have seen I had a picture of my dog on my profile. My guess is he got jealous because the dog was better looking than he was! Just a thought!!!

I've had guys tell me that some women won't leave the dogs at home. Ever. They bring them on dates.

I can understand not wanting that.

I promise you, my dog has never accompanied me on a date! He is my buddy, my walking partner, nothing more. If I loved my dog more than I love men I certainly wouldnt be on a dating site trying to find someone to go out with! I think it is unfair to judge a person based on past experiences.

Well, I don't know about "a lot" of guys, but surely he did not pay much attention to your profile. Many animals are better looking than people. Certainly their hearts are better than many humans because they certainly have more of an ability to love unconditionally. I love all animals, have had a good number of them, and even spent a few years working at a zoo. I think that anybody who "hates" an animal is somebody I would prefer to stay away from.

Well I like animals and I have a dog, but some ladies seem to carry the animal thing too far. Guys tend to work outside and know what dogs eat..................and then watch the gf let that dog lick her in the face.

REDNECK STORY
I had a buddy that was dating a woman with a lap dog. When she went in the house, he told me about the dog. "He went over there and crapted on the sidewalk, then he stuck his nose in it. After that, he wiped his nose on the grass and what he didnt wipe off, he licked off. I brought up the fact that she allowed the dog lick her in the face. He stated that she still does. Then I asked him if he was going to kiss her good nite. He thought for a moment and stared off into space like he was having an epithany. Then he replied: I suppose so, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

Well, Miss Claudia - - he should have said he doesn't date flakes. That's too bad that you own a dog and he is your "walking partner, nothing more." I mean, I know people who have dogs who serve their breeded purpose, and that's fine - - though, those people would likely go hunting with them - - not pose them in pictures. If he's just your walking partner and you don't love him more than men, then maybe you should set him free. I can understand a guy not wanting to date me for having a dog . . because my dog ain't going anywhere. I do love him more than most people. And, I'm not apologizing for it. I don't need a guy who loves my dog as much as I do, but, if he doesn't love him at all . . he's not for me. Because my dog rocks.

not always a problem with the dogs......some are cute, i find the problem with the owners.....hygene for a start.

all that licking hands and stuff........then what do you do with your hands.

i was once out and about in the middle of a field taking pictures, i had placed my camera bag on the floor then a guy came along with his dog, whilst i was talking to said guy i turned and noticed his dog was peeing on my bag, tho i didnt like this i didnt blame the dog but the "owner" when he said "whats he done wrong then...he has only peed on your bag" i politely told him to f**k off.

when humans sit at the dinner table and then let their dogs eat from their hands then carry on eating at the dinner table.

i would never blame the dogs etc....they dont really know any better but human hygene habits with some animal owners dont leave a lot to the imagination.

and when a dog owner says "its ok he/she wont bite" so you bend down to stroke it only to have the darnd thing very nearly bite either all your fingers or your head clean off.

never mind....ruff ruffffff or is it woooooooooooooooooooooof wooooooooooooooooooooof

While I LOVE dogs, recent events have discouraged me from dating women who own them.

I went to pick up a date at her house and was seated in her living room waiting for her to get ready. The dog was raising hell because there was a stranger in the house, so I told her to let the dog come in to check me out.

I was seated on the sofa, when her 70lb chow attacked me, leaving 4 very deep punctures in my calf. We never did make it to dinner and I left after bandaging my leg.

Call me a germaphobe but the idea of kissing a woman who has dog slobber all over her face on a regular basis is a turn off.

oh and the bit i forgot to mention about the hygene stuff.

the problem is when one doggy starts sniffing round the rear end of another doggy woggy then some time later the same doggy woggy starts licking some ones hands.....uuurggghhhh

when dogs sniff the pee on the floor and get their doggy noses down there then.........lick your fingers.

it would be ok if one takes their doggy on a date make sure the other party is ok with it and dont mind having their fingers licked by the doggy woggy which previously has been sniffing other dogs pee stains on the floor.

i would sooner a date of mine bring their mother or some thing or their sister........now that would be good.

I would sooner know whether my date is a nancy boy around dogs . . . or not. If you can't handle a little dog-licking (or, don't know how to put a dog in its obedient place), then you won't be able to handle me picking scabs and sucking my own blood . . . or, have the capacity to make me behave.

Sounds like it was more of a cop out than anything. Unless he didn't look at your profile whatsoever? Did you message him first or him message you first? If he messaged you first that would be pretty odd because usually most people check out the profile before sending a message and well he wouldn't have missed the pics.

My guess is he wanted a way to back out and thats what he came up with.

you picking your scabs and sucking your own blood..........no probs for me at all but your dirty hands after the doggy woggy has licked it.........no way.

talking of obedience......i once shouted "SIT" to a doggy woggy and the thing jumped up howling and i rekon it nearly had a heart attack...not to mention the look on the "owners" face.......i was ok...i was running fast in the opposite direction.

i dont have problems with dogs (apart from fouling in public) tho i have to admit iam much more of a **** man.........

mainly because you dont have to walk `em

I generally prefer cats. There are certain dogs that I think to be awesome - golden retrievers, Newfoundlands, collies and a few others. I definitely am more into cats, but I like animals, and I would not have an excuse for not dating someone because she had a dog. Some people don't like someone to have certain pets, because they don't like their smell, the shedding of hair, may have been bitten by a dog when they were kids.... Most men, I think, like dogs. I was just raised with cats, but I wouldn't think anything of it unless her dog hated me and was very aggressive and wanted to tear a whole in my jeans to expose my derriere to the world:) LOL Otherwise, I don't really care.

I didnt say that I did not love my dog. He is my best friend. He eats a home made diet that I cook, and he goes to doggy day care so he doesnt have to be alone while I work. He is my buddy, and I love him alot, and he will be with me for the rest of his life. But for you to say that you love a dog more than people in my opinion makes you the flake!

I was talking to someone on the phone for the first (and last) time and I asked if he had any pets. He told me no... I mentioned mine (five cats, three dogs) and he said " Oh... so THAT'S your baggage, they tie you down too much." Then went on to tell me he was just going though his 3rd divorce, they had run up huge debt he was stuck with , and he was filing bankruptcy. Then went on for 10 minutes about what b*tch she was (still VERY angry). Personally, I travel quite a bit and can afford someone to watch my animals while I'm gone. Think being broke would tie you down more than having animals. Whom ever I end up with would have to love animals, it's part of who I am.

Dogs can be pretty territorial, and unwilling to give up “quality time.” Some dates might be annoyed by this competition for attention.

My pug-children expect to sleep on the bed pillow right next to me, and howl if I try anything different. I have definitely got some figuring to do…

It is probably best that a pet person finds another pet person to date. Just make sure to buy a king size bed.

I knew my last date had a dog (like Toto from the Wizard of Oz) and it loved everybody. I was particularly sure that it would like me since I had treats (I don't believe in leaving too much to chance), but after having worked for years at a zoo (you had better like animals to work there) I know how to get along with animals and have had contact with some that people never get a chance to have. I do have some good zoo stories (Never bitten or severely injured, but head butted, chased, and kicked, but the kick almost did make me a soprano ).
