| Stuck in Profile Rut Land and the Merry-Go-Round is broken. Posted: 8/12/2007 5:59:36 PM | This is my third kick at the can on this site and have been here since mid-June.
I get a lot of 'views' but not a lot of emails/hits. I am somewhat against writing what I am looking for as I loathe writing a shopping list.
I appreciate that my age is a barrier to some, but going beyond what I cannot change, is there something about my profile that could be 'perked' up?

I like your profile, the only thing I would change is the main profile pic. Change it to the one of you sitting on the table with the legs, I guarantee you, your mail box will fill up in a flash
Good luck! | |

I'm not sure what's the matter with the guys in your area, as I can't see why they wouldn't write to you. Maybe smart, attractive woman scare them - so, perhaps write to them first, instead of waiting for them to gather the courage to write you.
I thought your written profile was good. That's all I've got.

Posted: 8/12/2007 7:44:45 PM | I absolutely adore your forum posts and fully expected your profile text to match the witty, insightful replies that you write on the threads....but...uh....hmmmm...I was a bit disappointed. A sexy minx?...sounded more like SuzyHomemaker...or Cinderella.
Men want to scan your list of interests to see what they might have in common with you and what interests they might share. Add some guy friendly activities and cut back on the sewing/needlepoint angle.
While you spoke about your profession and family you failed to mention anything about you personally. I have no idea WHO you are, or WHAT you're all about. What are you passionate about? What makes you smile? What sets you apart from other women in your age group?
Since you say that you've lost 20lbs and cut your hair, I expect you to look completely different from your displayed photos. Post some recent pics so that men don't have to guess why you haven't.
A lot of members don't participate in the forum pages so you might want explain your interest and to direct them to your links to learn more about you.
Unless you are expecting to be contacted by someone in the industry I suggest that you explain your future course of study and what it means to you personally. Will you be a full-time or part-time student? With working late and studying, how much time can you devote to dating?
Ok, so you don't want to post a laundry list of male qualities that you admire. Could you give us a hint though? Surely you must have some preferences. When you envision yourself on a date, what does he look like?...how are the 2 of you intereacting?...what activities are you sharing?

Excellent points!
I read my profile again and I do sound rather drab...........what the heck? I am likely more inclined to respond to thread posts than write about myself.
I am going to Jasper in September to attend some photography sessions and participating in some hiking. I was holding out posting new pics until I saw how those turned out.
I appreciate the input.

I am a wee bit unique than some ladies my age as I have retained a sense of glee with life and the surprises it presents me.
This sentence doesn't scan well. Also, I always recommend NOT comparing yourself to other by putting them down (however obliquely). Rather than say "than some ladies", why not just say you are unique, and have a sense of glee?
PS - I also love your forum posts, and have been a fan for long time...

| Stuck in Profile Rut Land and the Merry-Go-Round is broken. Posted: 8/12/2007 8:29:26 PM | My girlfriend gave me a little insight.
She told me that I write as I do at work (corporately) and I should save that for my journal ramblings.
She also stated that my forum posts are more of what I am like in real life.
The challenge now is to formulate a profile in the 'language and flow' that I use in the forums.
Drats. Homework.
OE: Perked the profile up a bit by using some more relaxed writing.

Posted: 11/27/2007 5:43:18 PM | reading your profile I am laughing so hard that if I was drinking milk it would be coming out of my nose at this point. but in all honesty, this has to be one of the greatest profiles I have read on here. you get humor into it which should draw people in more to find out about you then your 1st date is a riot as well. I would suggest going with the last pic as the main profile as it seems to suit you the best of the ones you have up currently.
