The year 2012 - End of Days?

Various prophecies including the Mayan Calendar seem to be forecasting the End of Time as we know it in the year 2012 - due to a planetary alignment, religious intervention - you name it. So do you believe that for whatever reason something major is going to happen and if so, how do you plan to spend the next few years?
If you don't believe, suspend your disbelief for a while. How would you spend your last few years if you thought everything was going to end?

Do you have any idea what the acual last day will be? I plan to have BBq the night before. Might as well get rid of all the food in the Refigerater. I would hate to see it all get spoiled. Anybody have any ideas for last day eve decorations for the party? 30 days or so from the last day should be good for one heck of a shopping spree . I do need that date, I would just hate to have the CC Bill come due and the last day turns out to be another mounth or two out. Just think what that would do to my credit score.

This might a good time to start a cult. the cult believes as long as your hedinistic and having wild monkey sex the last days will be held off. Of course there are no gareentees this will work . What the heck I'm will to give it a go. i mean i would be doing to save the whole world. now what did I do with that viagra?
world it's been nice.

From what I understand, they didn't predict an end... Just a change.

The Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2012. It predicts the end of an AGE, not the end of the world.....

oh my god, people have been "predicting the end of the world" or "big changes" for time immemorial.. based on ARBITRARY "HUMAN" time or calendars

what possible meaning could 'human' time or calendars have to the 'gods' if there are any?

remeber the BIG PANIC about Dec. 31, 1999? (or Jan. 1, 200) if you prefer) ?

like previous ones for Jan. 1, 1900, and 1800, and so on, and so on..

(based on ONE calendar, the Gregorian)

That depends on whether or not we are the god(s) who created us...

For a little more insight on the Mayan calendar and what it means to someone who has actually studied it, check this out... It's 35 minutes long, but well worth it for those with an open mind...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YomEEicpxcc

It predicts a change of conciousness worldwide... When the majority of us wake up to who we really are...

Is the end of the world as we know it really such a bad thing?

^^

those 'changes in consciousness' have been predicted to occur in the past ad infinitum..

so why hasn't it happened yet?

why a specific date/time?

why couldn't that happen tomorrow? or today, right now, this instant, for that matter?

humans seem to have some sort of fixation about predicting the unpredictable..the future; so they glom onto all these vague, dreamy dream-like ramblings..(like Nostradamus...ever read that crap?) and pretend taht it has 'significance'

same reason they pay economists and other 'futurists' to 'predict the future'..most project a straight-line and miss the dynamic changes that occur, almost invariably they are wrong.. statistically the few times they might be 'right' could easily be attributed to chance occurence, 1 time out of a 100 or 1000

Hey-- A bit gay, what the heck are you talking about?

Really? You sure you're not exaggerating(lol)?

A global shift in consciousness? Where are your sources? We are not talking of the end of the world here... Just the next evolutionary step... Do you deny those have happened in the past?

Come on there, Pal... Either you watched the clip I talked of in my post or you didn't... If you didn't, you addressing me is pointless...

I mean, what's your point exactly? Do you deny evolution of the mind?

This should prove interesting...

Not at all like that... The ignorance of your posts here is breathtaking!

They say we started at the cellular level 16.4 billion years ago at which point it took 1.62 billion years to evolve to the next step which they call the Animal age... It continues to 3115 B.c. To the Bronze Age which they call the National level where it took only 394 years for the next evolutionary step... The cycle goes (according to their calendar) until Feb. 10th 2011 where we would enter the Universal level (we are at the Galactic level now) and 2012 is the year of completion where we come together as a whole thru spiritual awakening... Not by holding hands, but by sharing and being open to everyone else's ideas... You may have a long way to go admittedly, but hey...

Instead of mocking what you don't understand, why don't you watch it and then offer some valid criticism?

I'm not saying I believe it outright(tho I see the trend), but it has a nice ring to it...

Why don't you search for decendants and educate yourself?

You think every one of them was killed? You are wrong!

I think it is so funny when people spout things like that and claim they are fact when they are just pulling it out of their asses!

is all the noise now because a hollywood celeb (Mel Gibson, the Jew-hater, but self-proclaimed loving roman catholic) made a movie in the area, Apocalypto?

for an evolved person you still seem to retain a fair degree of an angry personality..

My friend and I were discussing this Mayan Calendar date a few weeks ago.. I'd never heard of it ... but my response well guess I need to put together another 5 year plan...

The history of the earth is one like the tides... rising and falling.. so I guess it's a matter of personal view if the "Date" is a good omen or not. Being an optomist.. I'd be spending the next fives years doing exactly what I'm doing today.. enjoying each moment as much as possible and enduring life's little downs with grace and dignity.. and using my brains to reinvent the light bulb...lol...

After the Romans didn't the the world enter into the Dark Ages? Why not if the calendar is true.. the world could be entering another enlightening age... we could conquer gravitational pull .. we could have perpetual motion machines.. hydrogen fuel cells that emit water instead of fossil fuel motors... Kumbaya.. maybe.. but if we all got together and worked for a fuel revolution the date may signify a rebirth not the death of an age. I personally think the times we are living in will be viewed by history as the stagnant age.. where computers stagnated our thinking processes.. where wars stagnated our invention for the common man... because if you look around much is just stagnant waters today....!

Meh... Closed minds just bug me for some reason(That's where dogma comes from donchya know)... And no I haven't seen that movie... I read about the calendar and watched footage of their decendants explaining it and learned that they are still around...

I don't take history lessons from Scientologists, lol.

Again... They are not predicting a catastophy(from what I've gathered leastways)... We aren't supposed to all die... Just change our way of thinking towards nature and each other... Just a big change... Personally I see that all the time... We are more in tune with fixing our situation than ever before...

Wow.... it positively REEKS of ignorance in here! Why am I not surprised

The Mayan calendar and what researchers are predicting cannot be proven until that time, no guff... but it is very interesting when you actually open your mind and read about the wisdom of the Mayan civilization, their spirituality, their mathematics and their calendar... quite staggering in all of it's implications....

Some have no desire to think outside the box or to see beyond what is directly in front of their face... I am assuming, considering the odd and incessant referrences to marijuiana

I personally would rather focus on evolving toward a higher consciousness (funny how that can be achieved without the use of drugs ;) and searching for truths that resonate for me toward such ends as opposed to mocking another person's strides in that direction.... but hey... that's fine... seeing how utterly transparent it all is anyway

What I always like to say to prophecies like these is the following:

I bet you five thousand dollars it WON'T end!

If you don't understand why this would be a good bet to make, just try to consider why it wouldn't be so bad to lose five thousand dollars if the prophecy were true...

Yes but I dont think anyone could say how soon.
and if so, how do you plan to spend the next few years?
Good question and very thought provoking....I guess as I do now, what would I change? Could I? I'll think this one over for quite a while.

The universe, time, the world...whatever it is all the silly occultists think will happen.

The point? Even if I lose the bet, the world will be over anyway, so what does it matter?

They only predict a change in our awareness... How is that going to destroy the world?

But we wouldn't expect you to view what the "silly occultists" have to say with an open mind... Maybe you have it all wrapped up?

the end of the world is an issue that too many cultures and people have tried to predict, but most of them have failed. That is something nobody knows. I guess the best we can do is try to live our lifes the best we can. Loving our brothers and sisters. ANd wait in peace til the day comes. We should not worry the exact date, It is useless

Not sure, I have a very good program for understanding the stars and tracking movement of the planets etc.

I think they just said "thats far enough, we can recalculate later" "lets catch this bus"

As far as how I will spend the time between now and then I AM the same growing flower I was yesterday.

These are my last few years.
