His pics were good, had nice things to say in his profile, was considerate and witty in emails and on the phone, and actually asked me about myself and listened. We had a good number of things in common and his daughter is very important to him, which is as it should be. I was a little nervous meeting him, but that's normal.
He walked in and WOW- beautiful eyes, killer smile and was not only as nice as he seemed on the phone, but also very smart and well spoken with charisma and a great body. I was a bit floored by it all (in a good way) and felt like I needed to pinch myself. Lucky for me, he wants us to go out again next week.
I can't be the only one who has had a good experience on a first meet. Any stories to share? How did it turn out? Have you ever been wowed by someone in a first meet... | |

We spent the next few hours talking nonstop and I absolutely adore that man...

I recently (about a month ago) met a guy for a coffee. Conversation was great, his smile was nice. But we live a bit to far away from eachother to start anything. We still email from time to time though. | |

That was #3 in terms of first meets from here.
One other one was a nice guy, had a nice time at lunch with him, but no chemistry on my part.
The other was a meeting in a park with a light supper. Had a nice time, felt an attraction, good first meet- it was after the first meet that thigs didn't work so well. Nothing "bad"- just we weren't the right fit for each other.
I just felt the need to comment on this one, #3, because it was so much more that I would have expected.
If you "meet" someone here you would actually like to meet in person, if you go expecting to have a nice time, but not to find love at first sight, you're going into it with the right attitude, I think. Just take the time to be safe- meet in a public place, let someone else know where you'll be and who with- and go and enjoy! You may end up being very pleasantly surprised! | |

but I will say I have meet many nice men on here. just 1 or 2 creepy guys, the rest were nice, honest, sincere. I even met a few without exchanging photos. no big deal since the photos often do not do them jsutice anyway. and most have met me without a photo and not run off in terror. most have also wanted a date after the coffee meeting
why am I still here then?
hmmm... still looking for the missing piece...
but trying to be hopeful-

But it's nice to see another
I had one...we met at a coffee shop, and then on the way to the pub we made a stop (unplanned) at an Antique mall, and spent a bit in there. That was fun! Then we played 4 games of pool and shared some nachos in a Pub....Needless to say it was a great date and one of the good 1st meet experiences. | |

She has a 13 yo daughter and I have never had children so this is going to be new water for me. I told her this would be my third,they say three is a charm or three strikes and your out. When we first met, I was amazed that he looked exactly like his photo, I picked him out of a crowd right away. It does take meeting a lot of frogs to meet your prince, but if you are willing to devote some time to the process, and think of blind dates as entertainment, you can meet some great people. | |

I met another guy from here. Fireworks went off on our first meeting. We held back and took it slow. Every time we meet, fireworks still go off. We're dating exclusively now. We talk on the phone every day.
I won't say there haven't been a few rough spots, but for the most part things are going along nicely. Frankly, I'm head over heels for him. We've been talking, here and there, about the future. But for now, we're just taking things one day at a time. | |

Posted: 8/24/2007 4:01:03 PM | I recently had a first meet. Well it was great he was adorable. I mean everything was better than from Emails, Phone etc. Then He had to tell me I looked so much like his ex-wife it was uncanny. So that was the deal clincher for me.

Posted: 8/24/2007 4:06:51 PM | i have no horror stories to report. The ladies i've met off here were nice enuff people. A couple of them their pictures were obviously quite a bit out of focus or out of date or something.
I've shot pool over a couple of drinks for a few hours with pretty much each of them. A couple of others we just went for a good walk with the dog, or had a cup of tea at the beach, or in a park somewhere. We left it on good terms. No harm no foul but no sparks.

Posted: 8/24/2007 4:44:32 PM | Why, yes--I've had a few. Nothing that panned out over the long term, but the great first meetings usually also started a period of great dating with that guy. And hmmm, come to think of it, the average ones often led to, well, average dates...
My favorite first meeting is still the one when the guy stood up so fast upon seeing me that he knocked his chair over as he exclaimed, "Omigod, you're gorgeous!" It was even nicer to find out he was sincere.
But I'm quite willing to have that experience topped!

which was a few months ago was
off the charts. I have never been so wowed in my life
and that is saying a lot. He has the most wonderful sense
of humor that I have ever seen not to mention that he was everything
that his profile stated and so much more. Yes fishies, it does happen!

Posted: 8/24/2007 4:46:33 PM | I had some decent first meetings although the men were not men I felt I wanted to spend any more time with... a few were decent people ( maybe 1%) but just no chemistry there. I held out for someone who had the whole package... since I'm one too.
No regrets but it did take 2 years and meeting over 100 guys face to face.
In my experience most of the guys I met were in some cyber fanatsy and out of their freaking minds... not even worth consideration ( 97%) as to what they offered and what they asked for...

Had maybe 3 where the date was fine and a laugh but no spark or second date but.
Two of them were very good, one of them i spent over a year with and another is still in the early stages but its looking good so far.
I just try and approach things with a good attitude and be nice and pleasant and it seems to pay off. | |

Posted: 8/24/2007 5:54:57 PM | | my best first meet was a man who ultimately became a platonic friend. we met last november, it began snowing just as he picked me up, i was wearing entirely impractical shoes...he was charming and chivalrous, opening doors/car doors, taking my arm to ensure i didn't slip in the snow... good at conversation, banter and subtle flirting...had a genuine interest in getting to know me, rather than having a superficial and one-dimensional agenda...beautiful eyes, warm smile, and the most amazing hugs *sigh*. ultimately his priorities don't really allow for romantic relationships at the moment, and i'm not his usual type, but he's the most amazing person and i wouldn't trade him for the world. it may not have been a romantic outcome, but he is by far my fondest PoF first meeting ; ) | |
