Arizona Camping / Get TogetherPage 1 of 1
Along the lines of a simple Get Together, but for those of us who enjoy the outdoors and camping, this would probabply for a weekend.

I know of a few sites here in arizona, some with services like electricity and showers, some with just an area and you have to build your own fire pits.

Maybe some activities for the kids and some just for the adults? Anyone here have any experience with event coordination?

Any interest?

Definitely a good idea for summer. We should consider a spot that is single-day accesible for those who don't wish to "rough it" but still wanna have fun. ..and when the weather cools down a bit, perhaps I can put together a nice golf outing. I am pleased to report that the sport does afford great first date occasions among those who enjoy it.

There does not seem to really be any interst. All the lower spots with services will not allow fires at this time of year. Personally, I am going back on top of the rim this weekend. I love camping and I can do it by myself and I am still happy.

Just a suggestion:

i know the guys are down for this, but hopefully their are a good amount of women too. I would recommend Labor Day weekend; so a campsite needs to be locked down now.

I hear Roosevelt's water level is great, and they have the ammenities...again just a suggestion.

I would say make it a family event, the turn out will be better. Also, make a picnic out of it, everyone bring something to share.

My kids go to school tomorrow. Labour day I was thinking of going to NM. I think I'm going to count my pennies and head for Rocky Point the weekend of the 26th-no kids. There's a hotel that has beachside camping/RV spots, anyone want to ride along?

yes! Rocky Point.

There is also a bus that takes you down there and picks you up. Door to door service for 65 bucks.

We can camp anytime of the year. Im up for Rocky point.

We can get group rates on shuttle (I'll drive down myself, I'm close) and the hotel/campsite, perhaps even group rates on meals. I think I'll go down next Friday and see what I can arrange with some friends who live there.

No kids first while we get to know *some* of each other? And anyway, I've hada summer full of kids all around me, (I worked daycamp this year) and my daughter, as I type, has had four phone calls from kids and seven in the house. I bet there's going to be a slumber party tonight. So please, no kids. I love kids. No kids.

All right!, so we have maybe five six people interested, good enough for a small camp out. I'm supposed to go to RP with a friend weeked of 7th, right after my foot doc shoots scar tissue disolving cortisone between my toes via 2in needles, so, no, I donwanna party that weekend, BUT I will use that trip to secure the cheap rates, etc., The shuttle is pretty inexpensive, I'm happy to use my place as a halfway point while everyone gathers and we jump on a group shuttle (even cheaper that way) and I recomend a certain meian priced hotel on the beach which has a good bar attached, a taqueria and excellent restaurants very close by and cheap camping right beside it, so peole of all budgets/lifestyle can be happy. Last I was there, latenight bonfires were OK on that beach. Personally, I'm camping, and I should be dragging some other single Ajo females down with, all age groups.

No kids, no couples (uh what would be the reason of bringing your squeeze?), and if you're on call, bring your own vehicle the whole way. Cell phones may or may not work, pre-paid mex minutes available at high rates, so contact your cell phone company.

BEST DATES???? Start sending them my way. Loosen up people, it's fun in Mexico.

I have years of experience doing this sort of deal. It does take a lot but usually the first few are the hardest and the more we have the easier it becomes especially if it is regular. We can always move around with the weather. A couple of people mentioned apache lake at burnt corall. From experience that or rossevelt lake from the 3rd weekend in september through October is just gorgeous. Nites are cooler, days not more than mid 90's water is calm. Those like myself can bring our boats for all to enjoy. You can water ski at that time water is warm. Heck I go up to Apache the first weekend of November every year with about 200-500 people and we go in the water. We reserve 90%of the hotel space and camp area. Have a Rib Eye cookout on Saturday night a blast. we started out very small and it has built to this in 10years. Anyone who might be interested can email me . We can start to put this together for the mid september range if you like. In the meantime or to do planning I'd like to get to the rim. We just keep posting dates and whomever shows the better. Use my Yahoo addy just find razenaz2003.
