| Worst dressed & Best dressed First Dates! Posted: 9/5/2007 1:11:28 PM | I Once had a first date come and meet me in a bar in downtown Toronto Wearing these brown Ugg's boots, the old school thick cotton black track pants tucked inside the boots, and a pink sweater with a black huge ass bubble vest! I couldn't understand why she wouldn't take the time to look decent for a date. She was in her mid 20's She hadn't just come from the gym apparently she was home through the day. Then there's the other best dressed where we met at a lounge on a Saturday night, and she had on the Sexiest looking black leather skirt. It wasn't too short, nor too long it showed enough leg to keep my imagination rolling. and she had a sexy red V neck sweater, with black leather boots. She looked really hot! Why would some people not care to look good especially on a first date! I always take my time to make sure i look decent on any situation. whether it's a suit and tie event to shorts and sandles at the beach. | |

Darned if I know. I had a first date show up in the overalls and boots he had been cutting fire wood in that morning. If i remember right, he had put on a clean t-shirt. Granted we were meeting for lunch at a diner, but would have appreaciated he left the sawdust at home.

| Worst dressed & Best dressed First Dates! I was actually OVERdressed as usual, and he was definately UNDERdressed. | |

Me personally, my attire has never been mismatched on a first date, because I always talk about this before meeting. That eliminates lots of surprises. I usually state I'll be dressed casually but neat, as a hint to what would be appropriate.

because I always talk about this before meeting. That eliminates lots of surprises. Most people ASSUME that a dinner date in a nice restaraunt would require someone to dress appropriately. Shouldn't have to treat your date (a grown man) like a child and tell him what to wear!!

Like you, I'm the kind who will always show up slightly OVERdressed vs. slightly UNDERdressed for whatever the occasion might be, so I fit best with gals who enjoy dressing up a little and are stylish. Doesn't mean I think I'm better than someone who prefers to be in (clean) jeans, just my preference. And yes, I can tell that's your style too, I note you're even in a skirt wading in the creek in your pics.

I was wondering how the heck he would be dancing in workboots!!! Once when I was a teen my so called friends set me up with some guy that looked like a hillbilly - overalls and all!! Definitely two guys that blew it by what they wore!!

| Worst dressed & Best dressed First Dates! Posted: 9/5/2007 5:13:04 PM | | Well.... telling your date to make it casual doesn't always work, as is obvious from the stories of those who made it TOO casual. I once met a man at Timmy's, I was just in jeans and a T-shirt.... and when he showed up, well.... he worked as a courier, it was a hot summer day, and he showed up in the sweats he had worn for work.... with so many holes in them, they wouldn't be safe for painting. .... and he had not had a shower yet..... ewwwwwww! | |

| Worst dressed & Best dressed First Dates! Posted: 9/5/2007 6:00:46 PM | | My boyfriend thinks he's dressed to the hilt when he wears jeans and an unwrinkled t-shirt with no holes. Rest of the time he wears sweats. Is this a problem for me? Yes but he forewarned me right from the start "This is just who I am" and I had the choice, take it or leave it. Maybe that's what these under-dressers are stating w/o actually coming right and saying it. I still wear the obligatory black dress, nylons and heels when we go out because that's just "who I am." We're a mismatched couple in so many other ways too, but as long as we're comfortable being ourselves it's never been a problem for us and we've always just accepted each other for "who we are". | |

You have to dress accordingly for what you are going to do. I find shoes make or break the outfit. I've gone out in jeans and a nice v cut t-shirt, (no holes) but at least wear shoes that are dress casual not work boots or runners. it's amazing how easily a pair of nicer looking shoes will make a casual outfit look dressier then it is.

Yeah well... we don't let him out of his cage a lot :) Actually I'm the one who dresses up. And who normally decides where we're going. So when he emerges from the bedroom in sweats, it's like "hey baby we're going all out tonight, the sky's the limit. So, would you like fries with your Big Mac?" He has a pro job, he dresses up for work. Guess he figures that's enough of an effort....

| Worst dressed & Best dressed First Dates! Posted: 9/5/2007 6:35:00 PM | haha well let's see
i tend to wear what I normally wear on a date because really... why the hell would I get all fancied up when I'm not a fancy person?
I wear what i'm comfortable in.. what I normally wear, so there's no surprises if I wear a fancy****ail dress one night.. then we start dating and i'm back in the jeans and band tee shirts
I wear what's me.. jeans and a t shirt, they should be there because they're interested in getting to know me, and i'm the kind of girl that wears just that.
DAMN I have to say though.. i love a guy in work clothes (dirty steel toes, dirty pants/shirts, messy hair mmmmm haha)

| Worst dressed & Best dressed First Dates! Posted: 9/5/2007 7:48:42 PM | For dates I prefer a comfortable button down shirt and jeans. Nice enough to meet with someone I've never met before.... but not quite "job interview" clothes.
I also tend to try to avoid doing "let's sit here and interrogate each other" dates when dealing with a first date. I at least want to walk around while we're handling the interrogation...

| Worst dressed & Best dressed First Dates! Posted: 9/5/2007 9:10:49 PM | | just too many to list. this guy that wore a trench coat in the summer. he wore the same outfit on the 2nd date so i had to ask him if he lived in his car. Then another one who wore his pants up so high. At least he tried to dress up so i took him shopping for the 2nd date. | |

| Worst dressed & Best dressed First Dates! Posted: 9/5/2007 10:40:06 PM | | One time I had a date for some wine tasting. When she showed up, I had to just tell her: "Sorry babe, the date was wine tasting, not stable cleaning. You should have dressed for the occasion." It pissed her off, but hopefully taught her a lesson. | |

| Worst dressed & Best dressed First Dates! Posted: 9/6/2007 6:39:52 AM | | Should be discussed beforehand..at least what the plans are. If we are going out for coffee, a walk in the park, etc..I certainly don't expect her to dress to the nines and I am not putting on a suit for that occasion. Now if we decide it's a live show downtown and then dinner at a nice restaurant, we will dress accordingly. I don't think I have ever overdressed nor underdressed for a date. | |

| Worst dressed & Best dressed First Dates! Posted: 9/6/2007 8:31:13 AM | | When ever I'm meeting woman on a date they usually ask me what I'm going to wear and vice versa. Most of the time they try and match me. I've always dressed to impress. | |

| Worst dressed & Best dressed First Dates! Posted: 9/7/2007 4:56:06 AM | Oddly enough, I will often advise them what is appropriate dress for the venue. I forgot to do that with the stable cleaning girl because she said she knew the place well. | |

| Worst dressed & Best dressed First Dates! Posted: 9/7/2007 6:59:03 AM | Clean... seriously, how hard is it to shower/bathe before a date? Reading some of these posts... wow.
Had a date show up in t-shirt & shorts (I was in skirt & heels) for a dinner date and it was fine, because he was obviously freshly showered. Guess I am pretty laidback, but as long as you are clean and not absolutely ridiculous (thinking back to post about clown suit ), I'm fine.

| Worst dressed & Best dressed First Dates! Posted: 9/7/2007 7:58:59 AM | To avoid this I do usually sepcify what kind of dating that I am asking her on... like lets go walk down by the water front, grab a tea and site arround something casual... so like jeans are good...
BTW track pants are NEVER a good idea outside of breaking a sweat or laundry day!!!!
