| Nothin worse then a bully...
Posted: 9/8/2007 4:50:48 PM | Looky its a bit of a novel ive written here(practiceing for my biography lol) But....
Yesterday at work,i took one of the service users i work with out to the cinema and then to Burgerking (gotta love my job).
The service user is autistic,epileptic and non-verbal ( says " fu*k-off" clear as a bell when he is vexxed,but otherwise,communicates useing makaton).
Ok so although he doesnt speak,nothing wrong with the guys hearing,he understands everything thats said just fine.
So there we were in Burgerking,minding our buisness,when this couple walk in with a small child.
The man looked like he'd cut your throat as easily as shaking your hand,big guy he was,sterio typical hard-nut.The woman was kinda skrawney looking,you know how some people just look DIRTY,like they dont wash and such?
The girls working in the joint were foriegn,german i think.Anyway they ordered their food and there must of been a mix up with the order,because this guy starts running his mouth."you fu*king stupid bi*ches!cant even speak fu*king english you dumb t@rts,what are you working here for?!" and "i ordered ONE coke,not two,f*ucking dumb sl@G" and "ima f*ck you up if you dont listen!"He went to their table,sat down,and continued to holla out at these girls like this.Then the mrs joined in "F*cking a$$-holes,aint even given us any f*ckin source" (gobby for a scrawny bird she was to).Obviously faniced themselves as something a bit special them two did.I was disgusted.Everyone in the place just went silent,while these two kept shouting.Then the kid piped up "yeah,stupid!i hate them i do!".He must of been about 5.It went on,and one of the girls started crying.
As we left,they were standing outside,and when we walked past,she made a commment about the guy i was with,she called him a fu*king retard,and something about why was he out in public etc,laughing....his face dropped,honestly he looked shatterd by that.Now, id heard enough of her by then,so i asked the guy i was with to wait for me a bit of a way away, walked over to her,got quite close,and i said "scuse me,what did you just say to my mate over there? I know i didnt hear you right,see i thought you were being disrespectfull,i misheard you,didnt i?" She wasnt quite so full of herself then,she just gawped for a minute and went "Er...oh,er,i didnt know he could hear me" I said "see those two things on the side of his head,there called ears.If u look,ive got two of them as well.That big hole on the front of your face,thats called a very large mouth.We've had no choice but to listen to you for the last 20 minutes love,what makes you think we'd of missed that?" I then suggested very politely and discreetly that perhaps if i could use my fist as a gobstopper,and that might solve the problem.(Yeah i know,my bad.) Would you believe it she actually said she was sorry.Bloke didnt say a word,just tutted and shook his head the whole time.They were nothing but bullys,and everyone knows bullys are cowards.
How i behaved was not only unprofessional,it was very naughty i know (for the record,i wouldnt of done anything because she had a sprog with her,i just wanted to make her think).I did not really do the "right" thing,but id do it again in that situation im afraid.
Point of the post is,do you turn the other cheek or do you stand up to people like that?
Do you personally confront a bully,or do you rise above it (i couldnt do that)?  | |

looks like i have the longest quote on here....i have stood up to bullies before...Ended up with me against 3 lads and a brick on abus...bus driver ran off..my girlfriend at the time jumping into the argument and the police being called...
whilst everyone else just sat and watched....then come up to me after the police arrived to say they were just about ot help....!

I hate the deluded bullies as well, those who think that they arent but are. The maurauding packs who attempt to bully others with snidey comments yet claim they are so innocent in everything. Makes me feel a bit sick really, i can be a right cow but at least i admit it.

I work with special needs children, and although it is classed as unproffesional- i'd have done the same in your shoes. I feel to ignore these bullies is like giving them consent to carry on.
I've also taught my children to speak out against this kind of thing as to be wih people like that and say nothing is tantamount to being guilty by association. | |

They suddenly lose their voice without their pathetic little possy bigging them up. They think they are so brave, pah! There isn't a brain cell between them that is remotely clever!  
Depending on the situation I may or may not speak up to them but most of the time I rise above it. If I don't then I argue and get angry which is what they want because then they feel smug. I refuse to lower myself to their trashy gutter level!  | |

Would of done exactly the same thing....and I have. I HATE bullies with a penchance. I remember being bullied when i was young and vowed when i got big enough i was going to get them all. I was about 7 and they were about 12=14. Like typical bullies always bullying those younger and more defenseless then them.
So when i see someone beeing bullied I dont care where it is ..if they cant stick up for themeselves i will. I dont get in thier face and do it much like you did lilxcx. Politely .
but with gusto ..

Having been bullied and lied about etc in my life i tend to fact-gather, and then write a letter to all parties concerned, that way any lies, gossip etc, that has been passed between the bully and their targets, can be shown.
usually makes them feel complete tw@ts and crawl back under their stone. | |

Posted: 9/9/2007 2:08:12 AM | Having been bullied for most of my life i tended to turn the other cheek. What was the point at an early age of antagonising the bully because they'd only make matters worse for you.
Then one day i woke up... no more i thought ...i'd had enough of being a "victim" to these people, and started to stand up for myself. Last time someone tried to bully me it was into not talking to my best friend.. so i told them "i have my own mind thank you and i can speak to whom ever i chose too" with that she put me onto ignore  must say i was quite proud of myself for that one.
But...just a point... to stand up to a bully now could result in all sorts of bad things ... being shot stabbed etc, so i do tend to think now before decide to stand up for myself, i think i'd rather be a coward and walk away then defend myself and risk serious reprocussions. | |

I have done many times ... the last time was when four lads started calling my daughter names .. we were walking in town when we passed these lads , they followed us and started calling my daughter rude names. I found out later that one of the lads had asked her out and was gutted when she turned him down , he couldnt handle the rejection , so he called her names instead and his mates joined in.
I turned round and said " you are pathetic , it takes four of you to try and upset one girl , very macho isnt it boys ? "
They turned a lovely shade of red and ran off ! | |

i loathe, hate, detest (cant think of a word strong enough) bullies.........every since i was about 5yrs old i can remember this one boy getting repeatedly bullied because he spoke different to others since then ive always backed the "victim" and stood up along side them.....only this year my 12 yr old son was being bullied by this nasty kid who liked threatening others by saying he cut there throat n stuff and actually smashed a cd he had found on way home from school and held a shard of it upto my sons throat....(i never found this out until a few days later) so i went looking for this boy who is 15 and when i found him i marched straight up to him infront of his friends and held him upto a wall and told him that if he continues being the way he is my brother would drag him of the street throw him in back of a van and drive somewhere that no one would be able to find him again..........(yes i know this was wrong, ) coulda gone very wrong for me aswell lol but bottom line is he walks round school very differently know and holding anything upto anyones throat is the last thing on his mind
sometimes these individuals need a taste of there own medicine to make them see sense | |

^^ Yes,my work training has,and although it isnt really the point,i had clocked these two for what they were.I agree with you completely,but even so,i wouldnt change it.

Yes its shocking really,they all just sat their munching their burgers with their eyes fixxed on the table in frount of them.I did ask the girls mate if she was ok,she said she was ok,but they didnt understand where it had come from. | |

I teach my children to defend themselves and they have my full blessing .
Bullys do tend to be cowards and as such need dealing with.
many years ago, a friend of mine..her son was being bullied at school. They tried all the usual methods..nothing worked. it even got to the point her son wanted a gun to take to school as this bully had threatened to slit his throat!!
So my friends husband found out where this kid lived and knocked on his door. The father answered..'are u andrews's dad?' 'yeah..and?'
at that point my friends husband smacked the other kids dad in the mouth and informed him that each and every time his son tried any sort of bullying he would be back.....
bullying stopped.

Posted: 1/3/2009 2:09:30 PM | Bullying normally begins with the parents letting there kids getting away with almost anything. Plus they turn a blind eye to this sort of thing, and give the excuse that there just kids.
Sometimes kids are just bullyed both verbally and physcially by kids so they will be socially accepted by a popular peer group. Well back when I was in high school, they bullyed students just to look cool. | |
