| Pay Dating sites.
Posted: 9/3/2004 10:46:37 PM | Ok. I've had contact with someone on a site which requires u to pay to msg people that show interest. Now call me paraniod but do they use lures to get people to sign that doted line.
am jsut being safe here as shes ranked as one of the most attractive/intellgent/funny people on the site (safe to say not my usual catch) and don't want to be a sucker. | |

I just don't want to pay about $25.00 to send one email. Maybe I won't find another person interesting until the next month then I would have to pay again.
Maybe if they charged the cost of a stamp or $1 an email, I would consider that an option for a pay site.
I still wouldn't leave POF. How ever, it does make me wonder how this site can afford to do this for us, for free. | |

Problem with free sites for me is there mainly american base so have very few brits on them and even smaller when u're looking in a specific area. So unless i my only perferance is do they have a pulse am going to end up with 3 people. I've read that some people only use paysite because they think it's safer to. A lot less crazies/nutters. | |

I think though, that unless you are really serious about finding someone, and you don't pay unless there's is a specific person that you have in mind that you want to contact, it's not really worth it. | |

For me, it's all over the big ocean (or few oceans).
But still like it here best.
I tried two dating websites in my homecountry.
One was so full of sex that even I got red ears (learned a lot thoug (laugh)).
The other one was free and had the possibility to send a heart, no text but something standard.
Oh yes, got hearts as wel. But that was it! Oh, there was much more possible, but than you had to pay. NO WAY. Don't mind paying, but not if the add says that it's free.
So now I'm here, typing very foreign words and feeling happy with it. | |

It's only been a day and a bit tho since i Msg her and she must get around a ton of msg i imagine as she has rocketed up the 'who's popular charts'. So i can't say am feeling to confident about her choosing me over the others. It's starting to look like a on-line version of 'Average Joe'.
I was fairly happy with my msg tho considering she hasn't got much to go on in her profile and i'm willing to be patient as she has a kid so that can take up the days. Or perhaps i've been done.... who knows :)
Anyways, The site is really quite good, a lot of nice ideas that make the process a lot less stressful, like showing when people last logged in so u can see if u're wasting u're time waiting for an answer from a 3 year old post.
I'am getting a lot of hits on my profile but no one that has done anything more than look. But as i said early days.
Oh! and an old friend is in town too. HAHA! I'm meeting her for drinks on Thursady. I've always really liked her but she was way out my league. However last time i seen her i was about 4 stone heavier so we will see what happens there. Not holding out much hope on that either I'd rather keep her as a friend so it'll be up to her to make a move. | |

That time is necessary to make sure you know everything about a person before you tie yourself down to them. She seemed pretty mature, but treated me like crap and really didn't know what she wanted. Since then we've kept in touch (I'm weird like that - making friends out of exes) and she has changed so much over the years that she is lightyears away from the person she was then.
As mature as you are and as ready as you seem, take your time. If you don't like being alone, date, but don't tie yourself down too soon. Make sure you're where you need to be and with the person you need to be with. | |
