| Is there a difference between American and Australian Women Posted: 9/14/2007 3:55:42 AM | Do you see a difference in American Women and Australian?
I have a friend who said there is a vast difference in how the standard of living is and family life. I wonder if I was to come to Australia, would I be hooked on what I see and experienced. We are here in America losing the battle with family life for sure...
What do you think? | |

| Is there a difference between American and Australian Women Posted: 9/14/2007 5:33:29 AM | All Australian women do is go round all day saying "Crikey!!!!"
Some don't wrestle crocs or keep pet cane toads,,, but they're the exception,,not the rule.
Most of the women here have Russian Husband catalogues and keep comparing us to them,,,it's demeaning

Yup, huge cultural difference between the two camps ol mate.
My two bestest friends in the whole wide world are ladies, one in Oz and one in the USA. Absolutely rock-solid people the two of them, but worlds apart (pardon the pun) in many, many ways.
Australians in general speak more quietly, they think before they speak, they don't blurt out the obvious and are quite adept at sarcasm and self deprecating humour. They're some skills you guys need coaching in, and is why you don't often get pommie humour. Surprisingly enough your Canadian cousins share the same 'humour space' as aussies. I've travelled with all sorts of folk and it's always intriguing to see how different cultures react to different situations, and how certain turns-of-phrase can go over some peoples' heads completely.
Having said all that I love them both.
Happy fishing... | |

If you read some of the Australian threads you will see that in this area we're not doing so well either..... But hey...I'm not complaining.
^^^^If you come here would you be hooked on what you see and experience???
Well that depends on what you see and experience and whether or not you have an addictive personality I guess.....
Don't know much about the standard of living in America but I'm not complaining about mine....

Yeah Auzzie chicks dont find the need to shake their 'booty' on tacky video clips and demeaning themselves for the sake of perving american 'bro's' .....I beg to differ. Take a look at some of the ex neighbour 'stars' and I don't mean Kylie. Women are a reflection of the men they are hanging around. If a guy treats a woman like one of the blokes, then she acts like one of the blokes. Life in Australia doesn't compare with other countries. America is in the fast lane, and people seem to be a lot more stressed out there than Aussie's.

| Is there a difference between American and Australian Women Posted: 9/14/2007 8:07:09 AM | Lee, there's a lot of differences. The standard of living is hard to compare because in the U.S. you can have a multi million dollar home with a trailer parked next door. Ours is more regulated which is a good thing.
The cost of houses is crazy here compared to there.
wages will be similar.
Fuel is about $5.00n a gallon.
Aussie women are VERY different to Southern women. I haven't really met any Yankee women or West coast women so I don't know what they are like.
The country is pretty good, especially if you live in or near Brisbane. Great weather.
I hope this helps | |

| Is there a difference between American and Australian Women Posted: 9/14/2007 2:54:43 PM | Australian women don't wear shiny lycra outfits ..... Australian women prefer terry towelling American women want to bust a cap in their husband's asssssssss ..... Australian women just want their Husband's to get off their lazy asssssssssses American women love botox and face lifts and bum lifts ... Australian women love chewin tobacco and arm wrestling American women talk loud .... Australian women can spit long distances
Gee I love Australian women!!!!!!!!!

| Is there a difference between American and Australian Women Posted: 9/14/2007 3:29:10 PM | Let me see:
Australian women want to be loved and respected and treated with consideration, I am sure that is the same with American women.
And on a more serious note - Aussie women drink beer, wear strapless towelling dresses and thongs (thats footwear by the way). We can burp the alphabet and we like to sit around talking about girly things while the blokes throw a few snags on the barby and talk about blokey things and fart a lot. We say "bloody hell" and "get stuffed" a lot and aren't afraid to scratch ourselves in public I thinks that pretty much covers it.

| Is there a difference between American and Australian Women Posted: 9/14/2007 5:18:46 PM | I like the differences...The only thing--I would not deal with a lady who chewed tobacco...Oh no... I prefer a nice Woman, charming and quiet. I got tired of the loud mothed American Woman. I live here--but Lord help me... I am 50--so I am not into that Woman shaking the booty all the time. It's cool to see them on video...because that is the Video Girls....
I already had one of them---made the drastic mistake and married her. Thank God I woke up. Now that I am divorced...I am happier than ever. If you want to know--I am a 50 year old Man- who's a single Parent of boys 11 and 9. I have been doing this for almost 8 years and I love my boys. One of the ladies I met from your country said...I'd have ladies lining up to meet me if I came there....I have no idea? I so far talked to her by phone and had a great time....

| Is there a difference between American and Australian Women Posted: 9/14/2007 5:28:55 PM | Its more normal to find a lot of professional women in the states You wont here Some....but not as many
Women in the states also seem to be higher maintenance with a percentage of princesses Here....generally....women have more of a practical nature (well mostly) And tend to be more nurturing and less demanding (which may or may not be a good thing)
Compare a Texan and an aussie you'll get more similarites than say a Californian and an aussie.
Re sex: American women in general are more prudish. Aussie women are a lot more casual about sex and there seems to be this weird thing here where sex is about a woman helping some guy get his rocks off? Weird! So even though sex is more open praps...tis a very sad thing for the women themselves.
If you are a GOOD lover, please apply for your visa through that door over there ====> We need you.
And if you are an average lover, please apply for your visa through that door over there <=
Oh! And ALL women here wear THONGS.
EDIT: Just saw your post Honey how much per minute were you paying on that phone call?

| Is there a difference between American and Australian Women Posted: 9/14/2007 5:36:26 PM | Lee....I guess it's the same when we go there...
I went to a restaurant once and I asked the lady about my reservation...She just looked at me with a blank look on her face. I said" I'm sorry, didn't you understand me, I am enquiring about my reservation"....Her reply was" Honey, I just love your voice and you could talk to me all day".....
That is a pretty normal response in the South....I guess they don't see many Aussies so it's like that.
I'd suggest you come out and have a look.....The above post about guns is correct though. I found it very foreign to be driving around all the time with a loaded Glock 9mm sitting in the console and knowing the guys we were with all had concealed weapons....In Australia you just don't carry guns...
You'll find Australia is much safer and your kids will probably notice that too. It's different, and as an Australian I prefer it here, but the US has its good points too obviously.....like house prices, car prices you can buy a car with ZERO interest etc etc....
I'd suggest a holiday, but try and hook up with some people(maybe from PoF), and check it out as a "local" and not as a tourist.
I'm actually heading your way for a couple of months in 3 weeks time, and I'll just be hanging out with friends and travelling around...Not being a tourist as such....It's a much better way to get a feel of it.

| Is there a difference between American and Australian Women Posted: 9/14/2007 5:41:01 PM | Champrins...Calling between our countries is cheaper than calling Brisbane STD in Australia a lot of the times...
Because I am on the phone there everyday, my call rate is $2.00 per hour..... If you go to Walmart and get a calling card it's also very cheap.
oh that reminds me Lee....Our supermarkets close at night.....We don't have Walmart where you can stroll in at 2.30AM and buy whatever you want...lol

| Is there a difference between American and Australian Women Posted: 9/14/2007 5:47:47 PM | Just checked out your profile. Yeah you'd probably get plenty of dates....and plenty of action. Aust is just in recent years getting a small African percentage in the population. Up until 10 years ago I seriously had never seen an African person here unless part of a performing arts group. (It has changed now tho)
Problem being tho, IF you met someone you like/love and even if you got married, it is so highly improbable you would be living here. You'd most likely have to live in the states.
a) There are age restrictions b) There are work restrictions c) You need to have assets and be able to provide for yourself financially d) You need to go through some kind of federal and state criminal clearance process e) All that takes longer than your visa will last and you get sent home anyway while they do the rest
But the odds are they wouldnt let you in here.......we have already a big problem with the 'baby boomers' (post war babies) who will be facing retirement and there isnt enough pension money. They dont look favorably on that age group at all.
I have friends who are married and have been for years and have to live in 2 separate countries until she retires, then she can come here but on her own money. Not one cent from the govt and no medical insurance etc.
New Zealand I believe isnt quite so harsh.....
Whatever you decide to do......good luck

| Is there a difference between American and Australian Women Posted: 9/14/2007 5:56:32 PM | Edit: Briz yah I know hun. I do a lot of OS stuff too.
Have a good trip btw
The comment of mine re call was in relation to someone on the phone throwing out flattery and saying to a man he could get plenty of attention here? Ya know....THAT kinda flattery...and I was wondering if it was a pay per minute phone service person. If someone is flattered they'll call more often or stay on longer?
There are a huge number of phone sex or women companion operators in Australia, and most of the clientelle is off shore I believe.
Hmmmm. Wonders if its the accent?

| Is there a difference between American and Australian Women Posted: 9/14/2007 8:23:29 PM | Cringe.
It is amazing how the Australians here are generalising, and frankly, it is all rubbish. We have loud women, we have proffesional women, we have booty shakers, we have liars, we have beautiful women, shy women, kind women, nasty women.
What you find will depend on who you talk to. Just bear in mind that we are as aware as anyone and you will fit in just fine.

| Is there a difference between American and Australian Women Posted: 9/14/2007 10:09:12 PM | American women live in America and Australian women live in Australia????? is that the difference?
My guess is there's such a wide variety of women on both continents that the question is moot.
Ok, this american woman is just going with the flow here... LOL

| Is there a difference between American and Australian Women Posted: 9/14/2007 10:17:30 PM | Yes Helix, I cringed too but when confronted with such a ridiculous question (and I'm not trying to be offensive to the OP, but good grief, how on earth can you ask such a sweeping question?) of course everyone here was going to let loose. I think there was quite a lot of restraint shown actually
No matter where you go - club, suburb, city, country, church, bingo hall, family dinner table even, whatever - there will be vastly different personalities with vastly different outlooks/values/morals to go with them. It's as ridiculous as another thread asking what is wrong with Australian men. There are good and bad everywhere - one person's bad may be someone else's good and vice versa, you just have to keep looking until you find what you're after. It's certainly not something that can be broken down into locality.
