| When we were at School Posted: 9/18/2007 3:09:36 PM | Does anyone remember a Teacher being wrong about something at school? I was doing a science class one about polution and the teacher asked us about all the different types of polution in the world. I put my hand up and said light polution, and the whole class laughed and the teacher said what a stupid answer which made them all laugh even more at me. Lucky for me I knew what I was talking about cos I had a book from the library a few weeks before and it was in it. I seen the head teacher about it and later during the week the teacher had to apologise to me in class lol. You might think smart arse but I had read it in a book and I wasn't gonna have a teacher telling me something was wrong when I knew it was right. Light polution is basically when you can't see the starsin the sky in a well lit area like a city. It's like being at home and you can't see outside at night with the indoor light on. Has anyone ever had an experience like this? | |

Yeh once in a biology class the teacher was talking about how all fish lay eggs. I said no they didn't, the teacher asked me to stand up and tell the class why they didn't. She was trying to show me up, but I kept tropical fish so I knew that certain breeds, guppies, black mollies etc had live fish fry. I told the class and shot her down.
We also had a history teacher when I was 15 that was a utd fan with a season ticket, he used to riddicule any city fans and said that city had no chance in this particular derby, but city won 5 - 1

| When we were at School Posted: 9/18/2007 3:48:57 PM | | i told my teacher pat nevin played for both everton and tranmere and he claimed he only played for chelsea. i was right and he admitted it when i showed him evidence | |

| When we were at School Posted: 9/18/2007 3:53:55 PM | | Is Pat Nevin old enough to have been your teacher ? Ok sorry I get it now. I went to an all boys school and my games teacher said I would never make it on the rugby field. I proved him wrong though when I got to finger Clare Henderson on the penalty spot after the end of term ball. | |

| When we were at School Posted: 9/18/2007 4:08:43 PM | | I got into a big ding dong once with my chemistry teacher about Bosphurus and Phosphurous, the difference between them and which would ignite quicker than the other which resulted in me getting six of the best. I was sneaky though and padded my bum with my chemistry copy. | |

| When we were at School Posted: 9/18/2007 5:03:22 PM | I work at a school supporting children with special educatial needs. Some years ago one young lad (aged 6) with Aspegers Syndrome was asked what 3-5=, he correctly replied -2 ....the teacher tried to tell him that it was impossible to subtract a larger number from a smaller one. When confronted after the children had gone out to ply the teacher confessed that he didn't want to confuse the other children that wouldn't understand about negative numbers. Needless to say I made him apologise to my lad, and give him work at a suitable level too. I often see teachers getting uptight when a child calls their opinions and 'facts' into question, I can't see what's wrong with saying you've made mistake, or that you are not sure but will find out and get back to a child. It's good for a child to see an adult handle criticisms in a calm inoffensive way, they are, afterall, out childrens role models.
ahhh....stepping down from my soap box now....
