|
| halloween Posted: 9/20/2007 3:25:20 PM | | I think there's usually black and orange rice krispies this time of year, so maybe you could make some black and orange rice krispie cakes? Or just add orange food colouring to it, then shape them into balls and draw pumpkin faces on them with one of those icing tube thingies and black icing or melted chocolate? I think you can also get like bat-shaped moulds and stuff too. | |
|
| halloween Posted: 9/20/2007 10:39:18 PM | shape rice crispies into ghost and cover with white chocolate, decorate with two choc chips for eyes
stick licorice into oreo cookies for instant spiders to top a sundae full of tiger ice cream which is black and orange
ends of carrot sticks as witches noses .. dye ranch dressing red to use as a dip
deviled eggs with a pimento in the middle as eyes... drizzle diluted ketchup to make them bleeding eyes
|
| halloween Posted: 9/20/2007 11:03:21 PM | | You can purchase really small flower pots, (about 3 inches), crush oreo cookies and fill the pots. Then stick in gummy bear worms...it looks like dirt and worms. | |

| halloween Posted: 9/20/2007 11:28:06 PM | | Pillsbury just came out with a cookbook...one of the little ones found at the check out counter....with all kinds of Halloween ideas. It has everything from mummy sandwiches to spooky punch, chili, bat wing dip, food to make for take home favors, etc. I just got my copy yesterday and most of the recipes are pretty simple. Good luck! | |

| halloween Posted: 9/20/2007 11:30:32 PM | | I just remembered something that was popular when my kids were younger. Take a plastic glove put one candy corn in each finger and then fill with popcorn. Tie closed and they have a party favor. | |

| halloween Posted: 9/21/2007 9:42:15 AM | EyeBall Slime (Punch)
approx 1 pound Peeled seedless grapes 2 x 2 litres Lime Rickey( green) soda.. (grape works ok too but stains if spilled) a pint of vanilla ice cream
peel the grapes and put in bottom of punch bowl.. pour in soda and add ice cream. the melted ice cream makes the punch look slimey and a bit frothy.. and the grapes look like eyeballs in the bottom. Serve in clear plastic cups so the eyeballs show. (my kids loved it and it was always at big hit for class hallowe'en partes at school) Peeling the grapes is tedious but the kids are so delighted over the slippery grossness of them that it really is worth the effort. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jack'O'Lantern Cookies
basic sugar cookies cut in pumpking shapes. orange icing...canned is fine as you want it thin(ish) anyway.
candy corn for decorating , or whatever trimmings you choose
each child decorates their own cookie , either from scratch.. or just adding the face..depending on ages and amount of adult supervision( help)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bugs On A Log
celery pieces filled with cheese whiz ( processed cheese spread)
raisins scattered over the cheese.
| halloween Posted: 9/22/2007 4:04:46 AM | Dirt Cake
1 pkg of chocolate cake mix 1 pkg double chocolate cookies 1 container ready made chocolate frosting 1 pkg lady finger cookies 1 pkg gummy worms 1 tube chocolate icing gel 9" x 13" baking pan
Prepare cake as directed and leave in pan. I use the aluminum pans, so I can just throw away when empty. While cake is baking, put cookies in a ziplock type baggie and crush them to look like dirt, not too fine, leave some lumps. When cake is cooled, frost, pour cookie crumbs over frosting and gently pat down into frosting. With a fork gently loosen the crumbs on the top a little to look like dirt. Decorate the lady fingers to look like tomb stones with gel icing, like RIP. Poke holes in top of cake and push the ends of lady fingers in, also push gummy worms in holes. Use your imagination and really dress up your grave yard dirt cake. There are so many candies out there now that are really cool for this kind of cake. Examples: tiny pumpkins, spiders, cats, etc...
| halloween Posted: 9/25/2007 10:18:32 AM | I make JELLO treats for the kids class parties that go over well.
One option is to make "candy corn" cups ( I use small 6oz clear plastic cups) ~fill each cup 1/4 full of orange jello and let set for an hour in the fridge ~add another 1/4 full of yellow jello and let set for another hour ~ fill remainder of cup with a dollop of whipped topping and put a candy corn on each!
I have also made ones with black jello.. and hidden gummy bugs or other halloween candies they have at the bulk food store in them.. I've also used peeled grapes with a blueberry stuck into the end for "eyeballs" Your imagination is the only LIMIT!!
| halloween Posted: 9/25/2007 11:39:14 AM | For the adults at the party, Bloody Brains:
| halloween Posted: 9/25/2007 11:51:00 AM | Pumpkin Pie can be pretty easy, and pretty tasty. Plus you can get the kids involved in scraping out the pumpkin (it can get REALLY messy ) but the satisfaction of scooping it out, cutting the eyes and mouth out, and also having something to eat can be most satisfying. | |
| halloween Posted: 9/25/2007 1:49:04 PM | i make my pumpkin pie topped with a brown sugar encrusted pecan filling its heaaaaven.. or should i say hell-licous? | |
| halloween Posted: 9/25/2007 8:46:30 PM | Halloween Frozen Cream Pie. (Variations)
This desert takes about 12 minutes from start to finish and kids love it! (So do adults) Make as many as you'd need depending on party size and desired serving size. I full tub each of Sherbet and Cool Whip will make at least two pies depending on pie crust size (possibly three).
1 - Graham Cracker Pie Crust in tin (Oreo Cookie Pie Crust can work great too) 2/3 parts Orange Sherbet to 1/3 part Cool Whip (you can use lite if desired) (adjust accordingly for color and creaminess) Candy Corn Chocolate, Licorice, Sprinkles, Crushed Cookies or other decoration topping
Let sherbet soften just a little at room temperature (just enough to be able to work with it). Mix sherbet with Cool Whip until completely blended. Filling should be more orange than white color. Spoon into pie crust and smooth evenly. Decorate like a Jack-O-Lantern face with Candy Corn and your choice of decorating toppings. Cover loosely so as to preserve decorations and place in freezer to harden. Allow to soften for approximately 20 - 30 minutes before serving. Example for decorating: Use chocolate/crushed cookies or dark candies/sprinkles to make triangle eyes, nose and large, toothy grin on Jack-O-Lantern face. Outline edge of pie in Candy Corn.
You can also make this desert into a Green Monster or Witch Face by using Mint Sherbet instead of orange flavored. Or top with layer of Cool Whip after initial freezing and use dark candies/cookies to make a Howling Ghost Face on the white topping. Lots of variations for such a simple and fast treat.
Have a great party! | |
| halloween Posted: 9/26/2007 2:12:21 PM | Witch Fingers...
Store bought sugar cookie dough shaped into fingers and slivered almonds as fingernails. A little red gel icing can be used as a little blood around the nail tips and nailbeds.
Very easy | |
| halloween Posted: 10/5/2007 7:16:23 AM | Hey Shygirl, I hust picked up a Taste of Home mini cook book at Wal-Mart, that has 92 party and ghostly treats in it. Also every recipe has a photo with it. It is way cool and a big help. I love these little cookbooks, I'm a room mom, cheer mom, and scout mom, so I'm always in need of ideas. These little cookbook are great, they also have them for quick meals, dinner for two all occassions and needs. Look for them at the checkout stand. Hope this helps. BeachBebe | |
