Our life, as we think of it, can only ever be an approximation, a partial account, so there is always more and less to what is really what than we know. Looking back with more information and a different perspective, the contrast between what was what and what we thought it was can be stark, almost not recognizing what was what for what wasn't what, but it never was. So the only life stolen wasn't. Too much effort is put into the idea of one's life, and not enough into living it. Ideas must not be confused with life, and life must be lived but in confusion, which is what's what until we make it what wasn't, in hindsight. I never feel like someone stole my life, I chuckle at the comedy of mistaken assumptions I have left like a trail of breadcrumbs in the forest. | |

I feel robbed of all the broken promises and dreams that I had allowed myself to believe.
I have no regrets (o.k. the one is that I chose who I chose to be my daughter's dad)... everything happens for a reason. And I would NOT change the fact that I have a beautiful baby girl.
You could look at life like "I can't believe I wasted so many years with you".... but you know... those years had some good times and bad.... and all we can do is take what we have learned and run. Use that knowledge to grow.
People only do to you what you allow them to!!! | |

Posted: 5/13/2005 6:05:33 AM | My ex wife #2. Turned out after five years that she did not want to be in the relationship from about the six month mark. Found out finally that she just didn't have the balls to say it so she pretended, she was too afraid of what family and friends would say about her, blah, blah, blah.
On the one hand, yeah, I feel like she stole five years of my life. On the other hand, it was a fantastic learning opportunity that gave me many chances to grow. I am who I am now partly because of that relationship so in retrospect, it was time well spent.....just doens't mean it was fun. | |

Posted: 5/13/2005 6:38:49 AM | I lost my first 21 years so yeah. The only thing is....I don't regret it. The few people that know how my life was tell me it was horrible but what if it didn't happen? I wouldn't be me...I love who I am and if things went differently I'd be just another sheep.
As far as a gf stealing your life. Well thats your own dxmn fault because if there is an OUT you fvcking take it. Quit living for other people and live for yourself because you only get 1 shot at this. Doy uo want to wake up at 50 wondering what happened? Step the fvck up or get out of the way.  | |

People will string you along if you let em...
thats why its so important that a person be whole to be in a healthy
relationship... so you can walk away if the situation is one to be
considered unaccaptable.
Sometimes people stay with someone when they need to leave.
some situations are not healthy and eventually destroy a persons soul.
Some people are not strong enough to walk out and some people walk out at any sign of conflict or upset.. so it is important to be reasonable and communicate.
A person who has background themes could be just using you. Be sure your needs in the relationship are being met and be sure you can take care of yourself
because its bad to be surprised but its worse to be totally emotionally, finaicially devestated and it happens all the time to people. | |

Posted: 5/13/2005 8:53:36 AM | The only way somebody "steals" your life is if they lock you in a cubicle with no contact with the world, hence I'd say employers steal way more of your life than any relationship ever will. 
Anything you do voluntarily cannot be blamed on somebody else. Including selling your soul to the man for a buck.  | |
